Hello there!
« on: Thu, 19 February 2015, 05:56:21 »
Hi all from Spain!

Came here to introduce myself to the community. New user and kind of new in the mech kb as well, though I already own a TECK with blues. I recently found your massive GB and all the info everyone throws in here, so here I am to lurk a bit, and hopefully contribute as well sometime.

I've got mixed feelings on the TECK. It's a great keyboard, but it does have a steep learning curve and it required some unlearning to efficiently use it. Also, when you start using it on a daily basis, going back to a regular layout really makes you feel/look dumb typing  :))

Overall experience, very nice and really enjoying the MX Blues  :)

That's good to hear!  Just by looking at the layout I can imagine the difficulty...

Welcome to Geekhack!

TECK does seem an unusual layout, or at least different to what I am accustomed to.

Is there a particular reason you chose this keyboard?  One solution might be to get a more conventional layout keyboard with MX blues.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I really liked the split design with vertical staggered keys, rather than the usual horizontal staggering. I was also looking for something without numpad and ergonomic, so this was the choice I made. It takes some time to get used to the slash/question mark/quote keys, but I found out it only took like a week to get used to it.

I've never had a problem with tired fingers or pain as a result of continuous hours on the keyboard after buying this, so I guess it's been a nice investment, though I'm thinking on building myself an Ergodox  :)

Ergo Dox very popular - there is often support for that layout in group buys.  Plus a whole bunch of people who use them.

In fact there are some very, very nice Ergo Doxes around here :)
