Very interested. Consider V4 for the blue if we're gonna try and replicate it with stock though
Will you be taking feedback?
Yep, I'm in. Hopefully I can cover split ortho with this too.

What split ortho are you thinking about that would not be covered by planck compatibility?

I realized that you said 40% and Planck/Preonic so it should be good. The ones I'm thinking specifically are the Corne and Iris so as long as there are a couple 1.25U and 2U in the set it should be good.

Wouldn't this be like basically running a GB for GMK Space Cadet 40bit Kits? Just without the custom colors. But considering the work has already been done, why not just ask Oblotzky to potentially run a GB for just that kit. Although that seems a little counter intuitive to just doing a Round 2.
Why not run this as an Assembly kit, like what Oblotzky does?

40s users get a lot of flack for complaining about compat so this is just a way to guarantee we get the compat we want and not put it in the hands of a much wider, and admittedly more numerous majority.
Focus on price and compatibility will be paramount.
Which I kinda get but still seems like you should just try and convince Oblotzky to do a GMK Space Cadet 40bit Kit Round since it already exists and exactly what you want basically.

Didn't ask but based on his previous ICs he is not interested in supporting Minivan or minivan-derivatives (of which there are several in the works)

Yeah I'm not trying to convince a guy who's actively trying to put someone out of business by boycotting keycaps anything. Doing it this way basically guarantees we get the compat we need.
OMG OMG YES YES giv me that :o
Ya know, I wasn't super into Space Cadet when Symbiosis ran, but I keep going back to the closed GB page and poking around at pictures, so maybe I should stop lying to myself about not liking it. I'd be in for a run that supports a certain roomie 4-wheeled vehicle keyboard.
And since this seems to be a less-than-traditional-keyboard friendly thread, I'll ask: any chance for Colevrak support?

As colemak user myself, I respect the request. I won't say NO unless this does go GMK, if its KAT, well we can pretty much do ANYTHING.
How do we feel about numpads? Personally think we need to have all 4 operations on the right side in the right profile instead of the "traditional" way of having Div be the same profile as "x" Thoughts?

Personally I feel like a numpad should have a 2u enter key and 0 key at the bottom. Everything else should be 1u. That's just a blanket statement for all numpads. Also I think the KAT would look pretty good for this. Any chance of getting the front side legends too?
If we move forward with KAT, what about an Alpha kit that is just the sublegeneds (no latin alphas)? Please, I'm begging you make this happen.

As for kit feedback, please make it so ortho kit is a standalone kit instead of supplementing the 40s. This gives me a GMK base + 40s vibe.
I'd be very down for KAT Space Cadet, but can't say I'm fond of the "40s first" mentality of these kits. That said, I understand it's aimed as a reaction to the "40s last" mentality that's often prevalent.
Personally I think it would make more sense to have separate mod kits, one/two for 40s/ortho (depending on whether you split) and another for larger boards. Expecting users of larger boards to buy the 40s kit and then an addon for that may not be ideal (I understand the irony here, but you've undermined your own point by making it KAT).
I do love the "overcompensation" kit name though.
Nonetheless, I wish this project well, and may join if the kitting goes somewhere I like ;)

The Standard Mods kit was not designed to be a 40s kit. It is a mods kit for most users, and the 'overcompensation' kit is designed for 65+ boards. If I were to redo the kits in such a way that you only need alphas and overcompensation, you would have many duplicate keys. I'm tweaking the mods kit so that you don't have to buy it and overcompensation for a 60%.
Since we're still having a lot of discussion on the best way to kit this, and with so many options, lets have a little poll.
https://www.strawpoll.me/18970284
Litch and Eternal have combined 40s and Ortho set and a 60/TKL set, both with full mods and some spacebars
Milkshake has large 40s kit like we are proposing but also large 60/TKL set like Litch and Eternal
They're not all that different from each other, but clearly different from what we're proposing here.
We've been in touch with a US vendor and working on contracting some renders but I really want to get a closer to final kit design set first before we go producing any renders. I know you're hungry for it though! Be back again soon
For the Colevrak Kit, Dvorcol has a great reference depending on if you want to support just Colemak and Dvorak or if you want to support variants of those and a bunch of others by adding a few keys.
Oh neat, we'll definitely use this thanks!
A Colevrak kit with "accurate" symbol placement would be enormous.
You could just go for it and pay the price, but... since this is KAT, we might as well separate a couple of layouts into their own kits.
But honestly, if cadet monolegends become a thing I'm not even interested in Colevrak kit.

Litch and Eternal both have Colevrak kits, are those a problem? They're basically full alpha kits....actually that's probably how I'd propose we do it so you don't have to buy both.

^^^^
The Colevrak kits in Lich and Eternal look big because they are the full Colevrak+ from the graphic I posted (white+blue+brown). As Harlekein said, you still need Alphas to cover the rest of the board. Such is the literal price weirdos like me pay for using a non-QWERTY layout.
In terms of Harlekein saying:But honestly, if cadet monolegends become a thing I'm not even interested in Colevrak kit.
I think they meant a symbols-only run, with no latin characters at all (like a hiragana-only "Kobe" kit) would mean they wouldn't need/want a Colevrak kit.
Correct.
I would buy this with an ISO-FR kit. Not for 40s but for 60, TKL or even full layout.X 2 :thumb:
Ergodox? Boardwalk? Ergodox? Boardwalk?
Please keep the r3 Ctrl in the ortho kit, please and thank you!

The poll results were pretty clear so we're working hard on updating kitting to be more consistent with Litch and Eternal. We're still maintaining an AMAZING 40s kit.
We've got some great players involved, I can't wait to share!Ergodox? Boardwalk? Ergodox? Boardwalk?
YES!Please keep the r3 Ctrl in the ortho kit, please and thank you!

Right now its up in the air whether we will be able to do properly sub-legened Colevrak. Need to discuss it with the team but I'd love to be able to do this!

Lemme say, after seeing Symbiosis and the original Symbolics kb, I'm really glad you're breaking with the theme of black legends for the bottom half mods. I think it looks odd. Love white legends all around.
Shouldn't this just be called KAT Space Cadet now?

Space KAdeT.
Would love if we could get a full hyper7 set ;)
2. Modifiers that, rather than PC-style "ctrl"/"sys"/"alt" have the Lisp Machine-style "hyper"/"super"/"meta" legends.
3. A 1.75u ESCAPE key to go in the usual caps lock position. I know there's probably like two other Lisp enthusiasts who use Vim, but hey, a nerd can hope.
1. Black legends on blue keys on the two lower rows, like on the original Space Cadet. On the original, this was supposed to mean that white-on-grey produced printable characters, white-on-blue produced special characters and black-on-blue were modifiers --- though even the original documentation noted that they weren't particularly consistent about it.
I worry you'll struggle to get all these kits to MOQ in a GB but I'm cautiously optimistic!I think KAT MOQ is different than GMK and isn’t based on sets but overall unit count.

Interested! A full Colemak alpha kit is something special :D
However, some small feedback to the Colemak kit: As it stands right now, if you use Colemak DH, you have the same sublegends on the neighbouring keys D and V as well as M and H. Can you therefore also include a V with the three horizontal lines sublegend and an M with the <= sublegend?

A asdf row closing bracket key _might_ also be appreciated by some Colemak users. Info: https://colemakmods.github.io/ergonomic-mods/wide.html
I used Colemak DH in the past but I use the Workman layout at the moment. Just wanted to mention that I would buy a Workman kit if you made one, but I also understand if it's too niche. The monolegends don't cut it for me, unfortunately.
I'm in for alphas, mods and black mods for a 60%, Space Cadet is a must-have for me.Assuming that OC refers to off centre stem, it's worth noting that KAT Alpha's 6u space was off centre stem. I'm unsure if they have a centre stem 6u mould.
However, it would be awesome if there was a 6uOC spacebar in the spacebars set; I'd also buy that, the novelties and the numpad to kit out my G80-11900.

The “c” isn’t centered?
the c probably stands for concave.

Will the black text kit be regular dye subbed? If so I can foresee problems matching the cap color to the other reverse dye subbed blue, since the blue is being executed differently.
Whoops I missed something! Sorry!! The closing bracket key in the asdf row isn't the only thing needed for the wide mod, an apostrophe key in the qwer row (' and ") is also needed. Sorry, I missed that because it's part of dvorak anyway and therefore usually included with colemak but not in this case. The closing bracket key is fairly useless on its own unfortunately so I'd recommend you should either add the extra apostrophe key for wide mod support (:D) or remove the closing bracket key (D:).Interested! Okay, I went over each kit, and these are the problems I have noticed:
Colemak:
R3 has F∩ (intersection) and P∪ (union) - should be F∪ and P∩ instead (note the Dvorak set has its R3 P key right).
R2 O∂: the differential symbol should remain on R3, in the ;: key.
Dvorak: many symbols have been shifted right, no doubt due to the presence of typographical symbols on the leftmost keycaps (;: , etc.). I don't know if this is a mistake or is intentional, to avoid having symbols on non-letter keys.
UK ISO: it's clearly UK+US. I'm not complaining about the content, but I would consider renaming it "English ISO". Okay, add R1 <> for the coolness of the terminal style. :D
French ISO:
R4 ² : the superscript symbol is so far up, it looks like it's in the Shift layer. Should be moved down to reflect it's in the base layer.
R4 É7 should be È7 (grave accent, not acute accent - the acute accent is on É2).
R3 M± should be a plain M (or not, given it'd be the only letter without a math symbol on top).
South ISO:
R4 and R2 ºª : those two should be in lowercase - remember those are superscript lowercase letters (see U+00ba and U+00aa).
R4 \| : the mod-colored key is present but the alpha colored key is missing.
R4 2" : that 2 is noticeably larger than the other numbers in the same row.

A few notes on the ortho kit:
Very annoying that KAT reversed row numbers, but here we go:
R2 BACKSPACE: This would be more suitable in the Colemak kit. It usually isn't included in ortho

Colemak user here. I support this. Almost all my keebs are Ortho so I'm getting that the Ortho kit regardless, but was I disappointed to not see a 1u bksp in the Colemak kit (and didn't notice it was in the Ortho kit).

Hi, I've taken the liberty to make the right corrections to the french kit legends (mainly R4).As a graphic designer and future user of the set, it's important to me to have the right legends, properly composed.I also noticed that some letters are not exactly on the same baseline, there're some inconsistencies, but I guess it's not the very final document.Hope it'll help. Thanks
I updated the OP with the changes, I think we already had them, just didn't have the post updated! Thanks for the eagle eyes!

I second this, we're not in D&D, good alignement is the only one ! ;D
Are there any colemak users that would need the 1u backspace without the rest of the ortho kit?
I'm trying to think of a keyboard layout other than ortho that has a 1u capslock key (that's what bksp replaces) and honestly can't think of one. But including it in ortho rather than Colemak - if people care about such things - forces a bunch of ortho users to pay for a key that only benefits Colemak users.
Again, I'm getting Colemak and Ortho, so it doesn't matter to me, but I can see non-Colemak ortho users not wanting it. There are people out there that even one extra key in their set is anathema to them. Conversely, I guess it forces Colemak users to pay for an ortho-only key, but usually Colemak users are happy to get any support at all and would be less likely to complain about paying for an extra key. ;D
Hey all! A little update, we're having trouble acquiring access to the OG board we thought we could use to color match so, to move things forward, I'm offering you this poll:Voted SP. You had me at a full colemak alpha kit. My thirsty, desperate ass is happy with that.

Does the OG color match matter to you or not? Please vote!
We have some renders just waiting for color codes right now.... ;)
Hi, just registered here to comment on this beatiful kit!+1 on the yellow Esc and Return option.
Love it, can't wait to see it moving forward but I was wondering, is anybody else here a fan of the yellow Esc and Return like the SA Symbiosis did? How much would it delay the process and how much would it cost, if possible? Maybe even as an addon kit!
Thanks!

Hey guys! We're still waiting to hear from Keyreative, and Chinese New Year is upon us so may be a bit yet. Sorry we don't have any other info to share yet
has anything new happened in regards to this set?
I was wondering if the surface will be glossy?
Little update in the OP... (more to come very soon)
Do you have KLE links to the 40s Mods and 60+ Mods kits?
Could you verify key widths (http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/gists/bea72b4f1295a4941934d491e25216ad)?Do you have KLE links to the 40s Mods and 60+ Mods kits?
I'm afraid not
This is all looking pretty good. About the novelties though, one of the things I liked about the GMK symbols kit was the inclusion of the hands in R4 (R1, in KAT) to use as arrow keys. Also, the set of Roman numerals from R1 to R4 (R4 to R1 here) to use for a column.
Any chance of including either or both of these things?
Both Enter keys in the North ISO kit have white legends. I guss this is just a mistake in those images and the second ISO will have black legends?Yes good catch
Hey folks! We've taken some suggestions and implemented a number of them, feel free to review the kits again one last time. We're also happy to announce we'll be having a yellow accent kit as well! No pricing on this yet. We'll keep you posted! April will be here before we know it!

Holy **** I can buy *just* a Colemak alphas kit, without needing to buy alphas + extra Colevrak kit with a million extra keys for different layouts. I'm in just because of that. This is WHY KAT/KAM are the coolest things out there as far as keycap profiles. And it's not even the profile. Just the simple fact that moq is based on 1u and not quantity of sets.
Is there no estimate for accents kit yet?

Correct.

Is there a way to purchase a Hyper7, PCB and case?
Love that board, would like to get one.

Any last minute chance for a yellow R5 ESC?
So am I right in thinking that for a Corne (helidox / crkbd) build, I'd need an alpha's set and an ortho's set?
And as I'm UK based a UK ISO set?
Cheers

Ah, that's a good point... No num row to worry about etc...So am I right in thinking that for a Corne (helidox / crkbd) build, I'd need an alpha's set and an ortho's set?

Yes, alpha and ortho should cover you. As far as ISO goes, I'm not sure it applies to a corne but it might depending on how you have your board set up.
the 2u keycaps on the top row of the hyper7 kit, are do they mount on a stabiliser and one switch, or on two switches without a stab?
