Title: Black / UV Green keyboard design
Post by: mephi on Mon, 31 January 2022, 07:59:27
So I'm looking for comments on the keyboard I'm designing. The layout is already set because I'm rebuilding from a previous design and I'm looking to move from a 3d printed case to a CNC machined one, and my CNC router isn't big enough to build the old design which had a single case shell and lots of awkward compound angles.

I'm looking to make one vaguely based off the Microsoft natural 4000. As I like the split and angled design.

The controller will be housed in the block beneath the main two boards, the numpad/arrow block will have it's own controller, and be detachable. I still need to design a wrist rest...

The two halves or the main board are bolted to the central column, I'm a little concerned about how that's going to work from a balance and sound/feel point of view, so I'm wondering if I might need to make a bracket to support them.

Finally got some time on the CNC, here's the first parts of the chassis.
I'll post an updated pic when the key plates are in.

And here they are with the keyboard plates and keys installed.
Hopefully do the numpad this weekend, then I can start on the core and controller.
