Didn't even know this occurred. Anyways, I think the keyboard culture has become big enough to spread into regional cultures with more regular meetups, rather than the necessity of a big national meetup to garner interest. I consider that a good thing, as enthusiasts can meet with other enthusiasts locally and regularly.
Or maybe we have become more immersed in Internet culture rather than actually interacting with real people.
You're right, local regular meetups is the better way of doing it. That being said I thing a huge national meetup would be awesome.
It would be awesome. It would have to be planned well and far in advance. And in a central location in the country, but not Chicago, because that has been done before and keyboardists seems a bit tired of it. Texas, probably Dallas or Houston, because those places two have layover airports (more so Dallas), that people from the middle of the country, the coasts, and the south can easily access.
Although the amount of local enthusiants helps garner support for a national meetup, and I am not quite sure how Texas does in this area.
Florida also would be fun, because Disney World, waterparks, beaches, and weather (When there isn't a hurricane).
