Moar potatoes

If you want to keep the LZ brass clean I'd recommend not doing fingerprint checks, hand oils very quickly tarnish!

Lemon juice + baking soda mixed to a toothpaste consistency to clean brass ;)

And for others wanting to protect, a common method is covering the exposed side of brass with an iPad screen protector (or maybe two with those huge weights!)

Thanks for the tip! It came with the fingerprints though, so I'll just take it as a blessing from LZ god himself.

And the black looks so sexy

Buy a can of brass lacquer for $20. That's the proper way to protect brass.

Also a pain to remove and will affect the look. But yeah, you can get satin or gloss finishes I believe.

Anyone try Plastidip (gloss finish) to semi-seal the brass part? lol

Mine is scheduled for delivery today. Says it was "rescheduled" but I never did look up the original delivery day so no idea what it was. I changed my order soon after I made it and looks like I forgot to cancel the SS weight when I switched to brass.  Now I have a SS AND a brass weight coming. Should have studied my order more carefully, I guess. Although I'm 1 of 2 for an LZ-CLS with both types of weights, so there is that.

The CLS looks like it has some more slight blue hues to the grey then the KMAC2.

Is it a lot more blue? Man! Not sure now...some pictures look like a dark gray, some look like a lighter blue!

How about a comparison to your X60?

It's darker then the X60. It's not really blue looking to me, but it does have more blue hue then the KMAC2.

amazing pics. The silver might actually be the most beautiful colorway.

A small breakdown of the colors.

BLACK: (20) - 24%
-WK: 6
-WKL: 14
Silver: (14) - 17%
-WK: 1
-WKL: 13
Grey (49) - 59%
-WK: 12
-WKL: 37

Its quite interesting to note that there is more WKL in grey than there is black + silver in both layouts combined.

I honestly don't remember but I'm guessing the brass was more? I screwed up the order on my end. Had a flurry of changes, switched from SS to brass and somehow left the SS on the order. I kept meaning to contact LZ about it but never did.

Brass and SS were the same price, IIRC. I don't have the pricing for this one saved in my sheet, so I can't be sure.

Dark grey is a VERY hard color to do right, especially with this alloy of aluminum (6061), so I suspect that's why it's not quite perfectly grey. This is actually the reason the MIRA uses 6063, so that they can get the lunar grey to look right.

Every alloy of aluminum gives a slightly different color overtone, and every anodizing pool gives a slightly different color. That's why sometimes you'll see Chinese GBs talking about "bad pools." The benefit to 6061, however, is that it gives dark grey overtones to whatever color you anodize it.

Most of this information is available on the AAC's website, http://www.anodizing.org/.

Fun fact, the AAC also regulates the price of the process, so it should never cost more than $150 (and even that is generous) to have something the size of a keyboard stripped and reanodized in the US. Generally the cost only gets raised if you need over 100 parts anodized, and that depends on the shop.

Brass and stainless steel plates have some scratches.
hope you understand. I made a hairline with my hands.
I was surprised at the muscles in my forearm.  ;)

Brass is weak in fingerprints and sweat, and discoloration occurs.
It can be removed or protected with a clear coating or scratching.

Received mine today, and packaging was perfect. Bag is awesome. Machining is great, and the blue tint to the grey is pretty nice.  The tint doesn't show up in my photos.

I apologize for the spam, but at this point I'm pretty desperate for an Alps plate, and pcb.  If anyone has one for sale just let me know.

German customs is a clusterfk right now, ever since December EVERYTHING I got from outside the EU (with one exception which was a bubblemailer) landed at the customs office for me. When I asked them what was going on they said that they've never been that busy since 2010. Probably trying all they can to get in more money.

At my customs office they told me that every commercial package NEEDS a copy of an invoice or any other type of payment confirmation on the outside, kinda like Massdrop does it. Duck also did this with my Black Bird, but I got that before everything went to sht so I don't know if that even still works. No words about private shipments like these though.

What really put me off is that it wasn't really necessary before and I couldn't find anything about that elsewhere. So, in further investigation I tried to get someone who knows what's going on on the phone but it felt like a waste of time, the people from the import office in Speyer (who apparently does all the stuff from the US) told me that they basically never (unless it's a sender known to fake invoices, I asked them if a few vendors were on there but they weren't) send anything with an invoice inside to be picked up at the customs office, which can't be the truth because I had to pick up more than five correctly declared packages with an invoice inside from the customs office this year. NONE of them were opened prior to me opening them at the customs office.
No one really knows what's even going on, it feels like talking to 6 different people will get you 7 different answers right now.

tl;dr: It sucks being a keyboard enthusiast in Germany right now.

gl finding a manufacturer here that does small quantities at non-absurd pricing. I'd be all for it though  :thumb:

German customs seems to be a frequent problem. Do you guys usually get hit with large custom-fees?

I can remember that I had to pay around 30€ for my Orion v2. Custom fees for this board can only be more expensive.

anyone else with pretty high friction with these pcb mounted stabs that came with the kit? i know cherry stabs are pretty sticky in comparison, but i haven't felt ones like these. i don't think it's the keyset, as they feel fine on other cherry stabs on a winkeyless board that i have. i've tried lubing them with some thick krytox, and it helps a bit, but still not great.

i guess this might be a problem with these TX87 PCBs..? do i just need to wear them in?
