Dope layout. I really like it. The bezels are too small for me though.
-
As a fellow non right shift user, I think this looks really interesting. Arrow keys separated like that almost makes me think of the Cajal but made into a 60, which is definitely a good thing :)
-
Looks nice, but as I type "properly" that would mess me up. I suppose there are enough who type "incorrectly" though. [edit] The quotes denote sarcasm - I know there is no "correct" way... but for those who touchtype using the home row method already have muscle memory for right shift every time you start certain sentences.

This is a tough one, I've had people say both too thick and too thin bezels.
Going to see what the best option is, might be to keep it this way, but I will see once I get more responses.

Yes, this layout is definitely not for people who type correctly. I have to tried to do it the right way, but it didn't work for me and I also guess many others.

**** right shift

tap holds are amazing, You can easily make the up arrow, shift on hold, up arrow on tap
-
I like this layout idea a lot. I have thought about something similar in the past. I think my only issue so far is the "sperno" engraving on the front. I makes me think of "sperm" to much.

It's pure preference. I'd just go with what you yourself prefer. Personally, i LOVE giant MEGA bezels i.e. Piggy, M0110, etc.

Yes, we are currently changing that. It did catch some eyes, the font I mean.

I understand the idea but it'd be a very audience-dividng idea. As others have said, plenty of people type using rshift, myself included. "I never use rshift lol who uses rshift? therefore rshift is functionally pointless for everyone" is the same as saying "I hit spacebar with my index finger lol who uses thumb? therefore spacebar should just be on r3 somehow and here's a true ergnomic SKL (spacebar keyless) layout.". Of course if you just wanna make a keyboard for you, go for it! Just know you are actually alienating quite the userbase.
-
why the uneven gaps for arrows
-
nooooo my poor right shift what has the bad man done to you
-
something refreshing for a chance. nice to see a flex hotswap layouts for the beginners.
very nice.

thought it was a 65% for a few seconds

Yes, that is why there a plenty of other keyboards for you to use that have Rshift. This board is for people that don't ever touch Rshift or right hand mods and instead would like arrow keys. 40%'s "alienate quite the userbase".
-
why the uneven gaps for arrows
We didn't want too big of a chin, so it is horizontally thinner. And we moved the arrows to the right, because otherwise it would look too empty.

Exactly this. Thank you.

EVERY design decision is going to be "audience dividing". Including the R-shift would "alienate" people who like this layout becasue it lacks it. Your analogy in incredibly flawed. He's removing a duplicate key, not moving a key.

deleted sorry.

I too have never employed the use of a right shift key. I've often wanted to just chuck it off of my keyboard. What I don't want to chuck off of my keyboard is the function row though. I like having my F keys and a tilde. Love the layout aside from that.
Even given this drawback (for me) I might still consider this. You end up with a pretty compact board with a fairly minimal sacrifice at the end of the day, and I do appreciate the exploded arrow cluster.
-
Digging the layout, barely ever use r-shift. Nice to have the size of a 60% with arrows.
-
10/10 **** right shift
not that i use dedicated arrows either though

Big update

More renders

protos have finished production and are shipping to us.
We have received pictures that we posted in the discord server.
Because the pics by the manu are not that great i haven't posted them here.
We will provide better pics of the protos when received and do post them here.

THESE ARE R1 PROTO PICS.
THE RED AND BLUE COLOR HAVE BEEN IMPROVED IN THE R2 VERSION
-
This is sweet, my only wish is that the hotswap PCB supported split backspace, which I guess would need to be done Wuque style with the split keys being north-facing

Any chance for a e-coated black version?
-
That Blue proto doesn't look close to the initial renders. Are you happy with it or are you still planning to tweak it a bit before?
Asking just because I loved the blue from the renders.

nope sorry, possibly cerakote though

I am happy with the finishing and the color on the sample pic looks nice.
And i agree, the render color doesn't look like the sample pic.
Hoping this difference is caused by bright studio lighting in the sample pic and dim light in the render, so when you have it on your desk it would be closer to the render.
If this is not the case we will be tweaking the colors, but they will never be exactly like the renders.
-
Could see if we can mod the hotswap pcb to iso? By resoldering the hotswap socket?
-
What do I need to do to get a sperno plus with a function row?

Things I'd rather not mention publicly.
But yeah, this sounds like a good idea.
We'll be focusing on the original layout first though.

Protos have been received.
Reviewing them now and already making changes.
Will be posting the changes soon.
Also the color will be made darker (closer to renders) for final production.

As a right shift user I'm personally offended.
Kidding, actually an interesting take on the layout, GLWGB.

please make sure Mykeyboard does not add insane markups to the price as usual.
black/brass looks gorgeous though. will consider it depending on final price in €.

Looks interesting. Different layouts from the ones we have hundreds of are always nice to see.
I'd be in for the brass bottom version if we could get it without the logo on the top side.
-
- Last round of samples there was an issue with the switch tolerance, which is now fixed.
- The R2 blue and red sample are now closer to the renders and just Better
- There is now a sound test of the full alu and brass bottom version. The video switches between different microphones.
- Asia vendor is QwertQop
- Looking into UK vendor per demand.
- Keyboards being sent out to streamers, so expect more contect on this board.
- redoing the renders like the exploded one to match the final colors. (But we will also have pics of each proto color)

I can already see a €500+ price tag for the alu version

Sadly this is the case with all keyboards recently.
For example the freebird75. 180 usd and 240 euro on candykeys. Which is a 33% increase (just numbers), this is the same with the sperno.

proxying it from the US then, if it doesn't inflate the price just as much.

Gb delayed.
Will post new gb date soon, wont be too long from now.
We just have some more things to smooth out, we didn't want to have a rough gb start.
Problems were getting a uniform image out of this board.
Like a mixup between r1 proto colors and r2 in terms of pictures

new gb dates are nov 4th till december 9th
