ZOO WEE MAMA THIS IS CLEAN. The double usb port is super cooool, you should name it type-2 since it has 2 usb port. Type-2 is a very sweet name (you get it because type 2 diabetes, and the word sweet in my last comment. It would be very sweet because its cool but it would also relate to diabetes since its sweet LMAO  :)) :)) :)) )

VERY interested to see developments on the EC variant. This would be the first I've heard of someone launching a GB for a totally custom Topre clone. I've seen plenty of after-market cases (Evija, HG), but never the full package. What a time to be an HHKB fan!

May we have a typing test at some point?

EDIT: I should add that the EC variant would be an instant buy for me if it supported QMK/VIA

Price is just fine, not every board is designed to be as cheap as logistically possible. You're not just paying for the raw materials/manufacturing, but also the design work, the QC/fulfilment process, R&D into future projects and a little bit of profit so the designer can justify spending time on designing future projects. Either way, there's no need to justify it. The price is what it is, and if you're interested only in boards within a specific price bracket there's plenty of options within it nowadays. :thumb:

I have not been a fan of recent boards going with the 6u "true" hhkb layout. I prefer the asymmetrical look of the 7u. With that being said, I do really like this board!

IMO, the 6u space bar of HHKB layout can be shrunken further even down to 5.5u from the right side of the space bar.
More

HHKB is the only keyboard layout that attempt to position our thumbs more in the middle of the space bar, and help our thumbs to have easier reach to the mods (command and alt keys) on the space bar row.
I prefer to use my thumbs to reach these space bar row mods so that I don't need to move my hands much. If someone is to add 1u keys at the two opposite corners of the HHKB layout, I can accept that those keys at the bottom most corners should be reached by our pinkies - and as such movement involves our whole hand, these corner keys at the bottom row should be assigned less frequently used functions.

Unfortunately this is not something available in key sets from most manufacturers.
NIZ (this Chinese EC keyboard manu) sported some 5.5u in some of its 75% products and not in a true-HHKB layout, in order to squeeze in the 1.25u mods on the space bar row.

6u wires nowadays are mostly DIY iirc.

The Appearance
Who shapes this HHKB?

Is it in the castle?
Does it lie on the road?

The vultures circle, and I stay alive.
The water runs up the wall, upside down!

A shape like a pyramid!
A wonderful Swan!!

really liking this one
wanted a true hhkb board and this is as close as it gets
:thumb: :thumb:

love that you can choose between different mounting styles, but a bit confused at the hotdog mounting
why choose this over the normal gummy o ring mount?
i've only tried the bakeneko very recently so i would like to know how different it is compared to a more standard gummy o ring mount

Specifically for sound. I don't know why I tried it but I loved it. The f1 gave me the idea but I wanted something different. The same mounts are used on my ergo and that is a joy to use!

Price is going to be a fair bit less than what is stated. Still finalizing but it will be announced shortly.

Cannonkeys are confirmed to be on board with this project! We are looking at May for the GB period. Format TBA.

So no longer raffle?

Will the amount of available units/MOQ situation be changing as well?

Just built my first TKL with a similar mounting style (copying F1 as well) and this thing is gonna be FIRE FIRE FIRE, guaranteed. Gimme dat hotdog.

Looking forward to it, thank God this timing isn't right up against derivative  :))

Currently powered by USB2514 - this chip is EOL, but we have enough in stock to make this work. I'm working tirelessly to upgrade this to USB3.2 spec, but that will make these a lot more expensive.

I assume in the context of the $100 drop in price that this upgrade didn't make the cut, but wanted to double check. Is it still the 2514?

is EC compatibility still confirmed? doesn't look like there's an add-on kit for it or any real mention of it on either vendor's website.
nm, joined the discord and saw it's still planned for the future as of 4/7.

Just wanted to check in on this. Is EC going to be an option later? Also, I can't seem to make it to the discord. It the link on the original post just leads to discord in general and not a specific server.
