[IC] KTT HaluHalo Switches
« on: Mon, 12 April 2021, 18:34:31 »
Hi Everyone,

In collaboration with AlphaKeys, we’ve decided to bring back our Halu-halo Switches, but this time with KTT as the manufacturer! All 3 stem colors will be offered this time around! The switches will come mixed together, we won’t be selling the different colors separately. The switches will also come in ice cream pint packaging! You can see what it looks like below!

Why did you make HaloHalo themed switches?
In addition to color coordinating our setup, our choices were also heavily inspired by Halo Halo. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s a dessert from the Philippines made of crushed ice, evaporated milk, ube ice cream, sweetened beans, coconut stripes, sago, gulaman (seaweed gelatin), pinipig rice, boiled root crops, fruit slices, and flan). It’s one of our favorite desserts, and we’ve always thought the bright colors contrasted the purple very well. So, we figured it might look nice on some switches as well, but we’ll let you guys be the judge of that.

We also wanted to address the spelling since this was brought up a few time with our JWK Halu-halos. Our switches are spelled Halu-Halo instead of Halo-Halo due to the trademark Input Club has on Halo Switches.

What’s HaloHalo?
Click this link.

What do the switches look like?
Please note that these colors may look slightly different in person than they do on your computer screen.

Color Matching Photos
More
We’ve included a photo of the sample switches next to actual pantone color chips so you can get a better idea of what the colors look like. For comparison, we’ve also included our JWK Haluhalos (on the far right), and GMK Vaporwave in the background. The purple housing of our KTT Halu-halo is ever so slightly darker than our JWK Halu-halos.

What do these switches taste like?
Although Haluhalo is delicious, we do not recommend eating switches.

Specifications:
    - Linear
    - Manufactured by KTT
    - Polyoxymethylene (POM) stem
    - Polycarbonate (PC) top housing
    - Nylon (PA66) bottom housing
    - 63.5g (bottom out) spring
    - 5-pin (PCB mount)
    - Factory unlubed

How much would it cost?
$0.25 per switch (Sold in packs of 10 for $2.50) + shipping during GB phase. As with most group buys, you can expect the switches to cost more during preorder and extras phases.
A free Halu-halo switch sticker will be included with every order (Design to be announced later)

When would this group buy occur?
If there’s enough interest, the groupbuy will begin very soon.

Where would this groupbuy take place?

    AlphaKeys
    MyKeyboard
    Zion Studios
+ Other international vendors (to be confirmed)

Heard good things about other KTT switches and it’s been months since I’ve been able to get my hands on any ube ice cream. Ready for this!

Edit: missed the line about the packaging, love it

Thank you! Halo-halo is the best!

We don't have the best recording set-up, but we'll be sending our samples out to some people who do for soundtests to be made. I know Zion Studios plans on making one as well. Although, please note our current samples are 3-pin, and the production run will be 5-pin which may change the sound a bit.

How were the original JWK HaluHalo? Wasn't able to participate. Interested in this, GLWIC.

    Thank you!

I quite enjoyed the JWK Haluhalo, but that's also because I like JWK switches in general. They're the same as any JWK linear, just a different color.

Yeah, can you do a comparison with the JWK ones?

If you're curious about the color difference, we have a JWK Haluhalo on the far right in the pictures. If you're curious about sound, we'll make sure to have sound-tests available soon. Although, please note the samples are 3-pin, and the final switches will be 5-pin so there may be some variation in sound.

You could also search up some of the KTT Rose (3-pin) sound tests currently floating around. These switches will be using a 5 pin KTT Rose mold so it will be quite similar.

Is this a new 5 pin KTT wing latch mold? Seems like they are 3 pin in the pictures though.

The samples in the picture are 3-pin. The 5-pin mold wasn't completed until a bit after these samples were made. The production run will use the new 5 pin mold. It will be the same mold as our upcoming 5-pin KTT Rose switches.

Heard good things about other KTT switches and it’s been months since I’ve been able to get my hands on any ube ice cream. Ready for this!

Edit: missed the line about the packaging, love it

Thank you! Hopefully we have enough interest to move forward with this! :)

never tried KTT switches, but that price definitely attracts attention

not personally a fan of the random assortment of switch colors, I would prefer to pick up some of each color, but I get that this is a design choice based on the theme

I missed the first Halu Halo GB, but I'll make sure I won't miss this one. Can't wait to feed my keyboard with this matamis (sweet) switches. That container looks great.

Can we get tactiles in the near future?

Can you give some more detail on how the colors will be mixed in each pack? Is it completely random or will it be 3 of each color and 1 random? If its the former, OOF. If the latter, take my money.

I think I read somewhere that they were going to try to equally have each colour

I think the stem colors don’t represent weights, there’s only one listed.

Hey there, bought a bunch of these on GB and waiting on em now. Do you recommend filming these? From what I've seen the JWK versions (despite being JWKs) sound pretty good lubed and without films, and KTTs Kailh style switches I'm told don't really need films due to how stable the housings are. What's your recommendation?
