Hello!
« on: Sun, 23 September 2012, 14:19:56 »
Hi guys, my name is Daniel. I just got my first mechanical keyboard about 2 weeks ago. One of my friends referred me to this site for custom keycaps and general info about mechanical keyboards. My mechanical keyboard is a Rosewill RK-900BR keyboard with Cherry MX Brown Switches. I hope to eventually participate in a few group buys for keycaps once I get the terminology down.

Welcome to Geekhack!

You have come the right right place - just lurk around for a while and you will soon becmoe familiar with all the terminology :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I love my rosewill, it feels like it's solid build quality, even with the wire it's detachable came with a USB and ps2 cable. I'm definitely glad I picked brown switches I tried the mx blues, blacks, and reds the other day and the browns are by far my favourite.
