Keyboard Reviewer at the ready!
« on: Thu, 25 October 2012, 09:53:21 »
Hey Guys

I'm Tim from eTeknix.com, the peripheral reviewer. Had a fair bit of experience with many mechanical keyboards and now I'm looking to take it a step further by moving into the modding area. I've got some great contacts in the industry, so I can pass questions on if anyone has any.

Currently got 3 keyboards on the go: MadCatz STRIKE7, Gigabyte Osmium and a AZiO Leviathan Mech5.

I'm also working with a product designer to create a few of our own mechanical keyboards, but this is still in the early stages.

Looking forward to being a part of geekhack!

Tim

Tim,

Welcome to GH and from one product review to another... that last week of the month, right?
60% keyboards, 100% of the time.

Not sure if you are implying that its quiet or busy, as it's the latter for me at the moment!

Will post my keyboard concept tomorrow.

Welcome to Geekhack!

An interesting choice of keyboards - many around here prefer something a bit simpler.

Any particular reason, having tried many keyboards, that you settled on these three?
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I haven't actually settled yet, these are just the last 3 I need to review. Hoping to get myself a nice simple mechanical keyboard once I've settled down with them.

Those three are about as far from simple as you can get ;)

That sounds incredibly kick-ass! Any chance of a GH discount?
