NO LONGER FOR RAISED LEGEND STYLE. NOW CONSIDERING PAD PRINTED ONLY.
UPDATE 2: Quote from SP is $500 per legend to get JUST the molds made = $51,500 for 103 (space would not have a legend), $43,000 for 86, $18,500 for 37, so this is massively expensive. We would need a LOT of orders, at least 800 to justify this to get the per unit cost down to something reasonable. I think this will not happen. I asked if there was anything to bring the cost down, and the response was pad printing...
UPDATE 3: Since some of you expressed interest in pad printed ninja keys, I followed up. Prices as follows: 30 sets - $96.57 / set, If there is enough interest for more than 30 sets, obviously the price will decrease further. All sets must be the same color combination. Legends can be in the following colors: Black, Gray, Blue, White, Green, Red, and Yellow.
If you are interested in PAD PRINTED ninja keycap set please post. If you have already posted, please post again if you are interested in pad printed set. I will not count you if you do not expressly include "Yes pad printed" in your reply.

I would if it isn't too expensive.

Me too if they come in black :p

+1 but i like the ninja style quiet a lot and therefore my tolerance for the price might be pretty high... ;)

After several back and forths with Melissa making it clear what needs to be done, it sounds like a mold for every key with the raised legends will need to be made. Hopefully I'll have the quote soon and will update. If there is enough interest in black I see no reason why we couldn't get both or change from white to black. It all depends on who is interested in what, and if we can get enough sets to make it viable so they don't cost $90 a set.

Keycaps of Awesomeness
+1 Interest

I'm interested if the price is right
-
also interested

In for a set, perhaps two if price is good.
07/05/11 - Too rich for my blood. I'm out. Sorry.

Ditto
-
so these will be be molded into the side of the keys and not sticker?
-
I'd be down for a set
-
If theres a Poker set, Im definitely in, if the price isn't stratospheric.
-
Yes thats correct, the legend will be in the same part as the key as a single injection mold. Keycaps would be poker compatible, you will just have some extra ones. Still working out some of the details on design to try to keep the cost down. I had originally thought 104 set for highest compatibility, but that might get shaved down to an 87, or even 37 if the price is too high. Since a new mold will need to be made for each key, obviously the more molds that need to be made the more it will cost. Hopefully I'll have some quotes by the end of the day.
-
I would be in for a full set of these with white text on black keys, or black text on white keys.
-
In, assuming they're black and Leopold-compatible.
-
Updated op with quote. Looks like this idea is going to be cost prohibitive.
-
crazy expensive...
-
crazy expensive...
yes, unfortunately...
or anybody willing to buy 780 sets so the rest of us get if for a descend price?
-
I for one wouldn't mind pad printing on these caps. The legends won't be getting much wear anyways, so the printing should stay for quite a while.
-
just around my price range
-
how much would be for a set?
-
Oh only $3500 per set, quite a deal. I don't think pad printing is a good option. Besides there are dyesubed ninja available from KBC which would be better than a pad printed. Why can't I close this thread?
-
i would be in for one set, if the price is right :)

Pad printing to the sides is not that bad. Usually the keys are only touched at their top and experience shows, that keyboards almost never get cleaned until some dude paid a lot of $$$ @ ebay to get an old, used keyboard.
Did you ask for a price?

Just want to point out that those are silver-foil stickers.

Just want to point out that those are silver-foil stickers.
Yes, but as far as I know, SP could not do them in silver.

^^ BTW: whodunit?

All I know is it was done by someone on OTD.
-
Updated OP with pad printed quote.

I'm interested, Ill check back soon

$96.57 per set? Man, that's a little high for a set of keycaps.

yea it is. the ones off taobao are only 5
-
These could be that cheap too if hundreds of sets were made. Only when you can hit a certain volume does the per set price become reasonable. This price is also based on a 104 set.
-
Does anyone know if Filco sells Ninja keycaps only? or any manufacturer for that matter?
-
^ Filco doesn't sell them separately. At least not yet anyway. There are some Chinese clones on Taobao (http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=10439561168&ad_id=&am_id=&cm_id=&pm_id=) (btw, they're ABS not PBT).
