That's why I'd never consider painting. Not that it doesn't look great, just too much upfront cost for what would amount to painting a few toys. And who knows how many times I'd actually use it, plus the cost and waste of buying paint for such small projects.

I'd rather just pay someone else to do a much better job at a fraction of the cost, but I'll probably have the waterslides on it before that happens too :))

When I said, "even one color" in my previous post I was suggesting the spray cans. Even just that makes it look a lot better

there's something I don't quite understand. These models seem that can be positioned in various stances, how can you paint them if the joints are movable? Do people glue the joints?

Well you build them so you just paint the parts before assembling them, I don't really remember how the joints were but I'm pretty sure that you don't paint those.

I haven't bought any new models in a while. It was too tempting to buy them all so I had to stop myself. :)
Why is no one painting here! It looks so much better even if it's just one color
Personally, I don't paint because I can never be bothered to start trying it. The sad part is that I have the airbrush and compressor and the brushes on hand already. I just need to go to the local hobby shop to get the paint/primer/gloss/etc and I could start anytime I wanted.

This thread is tempting me to spend more money that I want to.... I had a bit of airbrushing stuff back home in Canada too.....

The trouble with painting is the huge upfront cost with compressor, paints,  mixers,  putty,  primer, base coat,  gloss.

It's way way worse than keyboards.
That's the upsetting part, I have all this stuff in Canada already...

Damn you rich people..  Tp4 wish he could afford all that stuff to paint models.

Ramen diet good sir.

But actually it was because I used to work in hobby shop and bought things at cost so I just kind of bought whatever I thought I might use.

I have built a couple of Gundams (was one of my favorite shows growing up). I also really like zoids but they are hard to find/expensive now.

If we WERE to build actual robots to ride around in.. Zoids would be more realistic than Gundams..

Gundams are tall and lanky for NO good REASON..

I was quite spoiled by my step father in Japan at this point in my my life and I remember building tons of zoids, a couple of them were massive too. I wonder how much those were....

1 alu korean kb can cost more or the same of a complete painting equipment good enough for gunpla. You just need to search around.

Also, most of the kits that are painted are atleast MG grade. No point painting HG since the details are not that great. MG grades all have skeletons which is used for the joints and moving parts. It would be covered by an armor and that is what is painted in the kit.

TGR Jane CE | TX-CP | ZZ96 | HHKB | Ducky Shine 3 | Atreus | Infinity Ergodox | IBM Model M | Smart Pad | Taobao Acrylic 96 | TGR910 SE | RGB96 | M4-A | Moon

Pending: Exent | EM7 | M-60 | Kira EXS | 910 Poly | Kn210 | Alice

Depending on where you live I could recommend an inexpensive setup to begin painting. Building and completing a project has its own merits and feeling of satisfaction though so it's up to the user to determine the worth

I have "a little" airbrush experience, I could probly pull off a sorta decent looking model.

Is that the MG dark matter as it looks rather small if so, looking good though if you wanted to do a metalic paint job you can paint all the red parts silver then paint clear red over them giving it a nice, titanium looking finish :)

Also just looked the sword is nice, did you add the nicks in it as that looks very nice if so

Yep. I tried going for a beat up look, the shoulder plates got the worst of it though . Once I get more into the hobby maybe I'll invest in an airbrush.

Whatever looks good to you man :thumb: An easy way to browse is on any gundam site or ebay, just refine to whatever grade you want (you'll probably want to start with a high grade) and see what catches your eye.

Nice! I was super into these when I was young. It was one of my main life regrets though, I spent 10 days in Japan when I was like 14, visiting a friend, and all I wanted to do was look for models... total waste of time :/

Slightly off topic but when I saw this colorway I kind of got excited, the folks in this thread will see it too i think...

Round 4 SPH (Blue) + Round 5 Honey (White + Red) + Yellow? = RX78 SA Keycaps

All it needs is some more red, and a little bit of yellow.

Just a pg unicorn? Go deep and get led unit and full armor p-bandai set :thumb:

oh well duh LED kit. if you don't get that why even bother

I wish I had another full armor set to hook you up with . I mean I did but someone in my house tossed my extra set. =/

Big box with the set all the way on the bottom and a bunch of different kinds of packing material on the top. Even though the set is large, as in a big as a pg mk ii box, it's deceptively light. So someone put it out when garbage collection happened and I never saw it again. Lol

I've always wanted to get more into the gundam building. Do you guys watch the show a lot or do you just like the models?

I used to watch it when it first came on toonami (gundam wing) and then the season with the golden suits(?) but I feel like I'm missing out on a series with so much.
