Finished my build! Quick phone pic; really happy with how it turned out. The thick PC plate feels and sounds very nice. It feels like it vibrates a bit on impact; not too sure how to mitigate that without stiffening the board too much. There's very little clearance underneath the PCB with the plate.

The front height is really low. Way, way lower than any keyboard I've typed on. Weirdly comfortable but also makes me concerned that I have bad typing form.

Overall, very happy with it! Love typing on it!

Looks good! What switches did you build it with? How is the board holding up so far?

Not a full update like I hoped to give, but here is what I know:

Batch 3 reanodizing: bad news unfortunately... The anodizer stopped replying to emails - I was trying to wrap up the final details and then there was just over 1 months silence (to me and a couple others that use them). Apparently they were swamped with work. They have replied now, and I'm still finalizing the order I'll have with them. I can't read the future, but crossing my fingers to have them sent mid July and get them back early to mid August.

Batch 4: waiting on final confirmation, but Batch 4 should be finishing anodizing any time now, so expecting to get them at some point this month. The end is in sight finally - thanks again to everyones patience.

It's surreal to me that this has hit 3 years. I don't think I've ever waited this long for any purchase I've made ever.

Haha, this IS surreal. I remember that I ordered the board right when the GB open while I was at a wedding. To think that this person now has been married for 3 years and I still haven‘t received the board is kinda wild..
Tho, statistically, they might be divorced already..

Batch 3 reanodizing: Not the update I wanted to give, but I'm not really sure what's going on at this stage... It's been a few weeks since hearing anything back, so at this stage I'm a bit puzzled. Hopefully they're just extremely busy, as they haven't replied to someone else I know that's using them. I will continue trying to get an update.

Batch 4: Good and bad news.

Good news, the 220s have been received. I will reach out to those expecting, and collected addresses, send shipping invoices, and get them packed.

The image of a Dark Gray 220 won't format correctly so: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/420671918740340737/880962293616222268/image0.jpg

Bad news, the 280s in Batch 4 will need to be remade due to an anodizing issue. From what I understand, the material where the feet mount to warped during anodizing because of how thin it is. I believe this'll take another month, however I'll get a more firm date soon.

Wrist Rests: They were not shipped to me with the 220s, so I assume they aren't done and will be sent with the 280s.

Even though I am really looking forward to getting my blue gray, but at this stage I am a little worried that new anodizer is not going to do a good job matching it to the OG batch(which looks awesome imo). Someone going radio silence has always meant something bad has happened, in my experience at least.

I wanted to post a lot more of what I'm pulling together to try and make things right for those that've waited all this time, but it's not ready yet, so I'll hold off from any more info for now. I'd like to present it as full as possible.

Batch 3 Reanodizing: Pretty bad news, but with some good news. Basically no news from the anodizer since they received them early August. Honestly, I have no idea what they've been doing apart from giving me very low effort responses like "we are busy with a big order and will do yours after" etc. Ultimately, I decided about 1.5 weeks ago to just give up, and try and get the parts back. I know somewhere else I can take them now, so if I could at least get the parts back, that'd be much better than having to remanufacture the parts all over again. They've just verbally agreed to send the parts back as it isn't "done" yet, whatever that means. Hoping I can get the physical parts back and deal with the finishing afterwards. Will update if/when I receive the parts back. I try to keep emotion out of these updates but this has been pretty defeating to me, but I'm determined to see it through. Thank you again to those that have been patient throughout, it really does mean a lot.

Batch 4: Remanufacturing has been mostly successful, about 80% are ready, but the others need redoing again. I've asked how long these should take and whether it's possible to just ship the good boards + wrist rests to me for now.

Batch 3 Reanodizing: Not good news on the reanodizing front. I had some raw cases anodized by the anodizer I was planning on using, but to keep it brief, they turned out terrible - pictures below. As mentioned, these were supplied raw, and the simple request of silver AKA clear was made. Dents, scratches, patchiness, etc. Regardless of the quality, they would only be able to anodize in preset colors & finishes, and none were close to the Blue Gray of this project.

Summing things up, I've reached out to five anodizers - three said they wouldn't be able to guarantee better, one ghosted, and the final one that actually anodized something couldn't put out close to an acceptable quality. On top of these, the manufacturer that I've used reliability for the past few years cannot get closer, and changing manufacturers is why we're here (and to me, a pointless misadventure both with time & money). I hate that it's this way, but I feel like I've exhausted all my options.

To move forward, first I will ship all the kits out so that owners can see the exact anodizing mismatch themselves. I'll then start conversations with everyone involved, and gather opinions on what the best solution is for everyone. I'd like to come out of this with everyone as satisfied as they can be given the circumstances. I believe this is the best solution, but ultimately I'll listen to everyone and do my best. If you want to reach out sooner and start talking, feel free to, however I'd like to get everything delivered so proper judgement can be made before taking any action.

I'll send the shipping form tonight and start collecting that information. Shipping will be with DHL, and I won't charge anyone affected by the anodizing mismatch. I'll start assembling units, sorting parts, generally just prepare to start shipping again throughout this month, with the aim of beginning shipping towards the end of the month. Please note I currently don't have my car therefore can't get to the office, but should have it by the end of this week. I have an employee helping out with fulfilment, so it will be completed much quicker than previous batches.

I'm deeply sorry it's come to this.

Batch 4: 60% of the shipment arrived today, I should have the other 40% tomorrow. Unfortunately these were shipped to my apartment, and not the office, so I have to transport them over. As stated above, I don't have my car right now, but should by the end of the week. Along with the remaining kits from Batch 3, I'll start preparing to ship these throughout this month, with the aim of beginning shipping towards the end of the month. I'll be sending the shipping form tonight.

Finally, apologies at how overdue this update is. I truly appreciate everyone's patience in the late stages of this.

Seconding this. Black would've been my pick if blue grey wasn't available. So if getting them done in a different finish is an option, I might be interested.

Though I'll wait until I receive my unit to see how bad the color mismatch actually is. If it's not that bad, I'll probably just leave it as is.

Going to have to say no - I have no path to reanodize units, and reproducting units will just lead to more trouble. I believe the design plays a large part in the anodizing issues, as the top piece is the same thickness all round, whereas the bottom piece is very short at the front, and tall at the back.

I have no problem if people want to perhaps transfer to a 380 (or another recent project [Valhalla, 378, X60 V2]), not sure if that's of interest to anyone as they're very different projects.

I believe I recall that based on naming convention, the 380 would also be a TKL. If so, I would consider transferring to this project. Do you have any sense when that would be launched? I haven't seen an IC yet so I assume it is still quite far in the future. If we do that, what happens to our 220, do we have to accept the current ano or lack thereof? Would also be nice for any 280 transfers to get some sort of limited edition 380.

Right now, I'd say May start with very roughly end of year delivery. That'll probably change, but will give you some idea.

Regarding 220, you'd just get that as noted above, as there is no guarantee I will do a "320".

Happy to do a limited edition :)

Roughly speaking, specifiation of 380 is:
  • F13 80% Layout
  • DUAL V2 Mount (rather than top mount)
  • Screwless Exterior
  • Seamless Case Design
  • Brass Through Weight (basically identical to 280 but with new engraving)
  • 7° Base Angle (1 lower than 280)
  • 15.5mm Front Height ft. LEDGE
  • USB-C Daughterboard
  • Hyper Red (Aluminum) or 5mm Polycarbonate Plate
Layout is fixed full Left Shift, full Backspace, ANSI Enter, full Right Shift, Tsangan bottom row, with options of full or stepped Caps Lock. The biggest change will be the F13 key.

Colors will probably be Blue Gray, Silver, and perhaps Pink. If you guys wanted different from those colors then happy to discuss.

I'd be interested in a limited edition 380. Hopefully we'll get some kind of priority

My tastes have since transitioned to F13 TKLs and it was the one pet peeve I had with the 280, but I'd still want the 280 regardless for a piece of Noxary history.

If it is possible to get a full brass or SS bottom 380 in Pink then I would transfer. Understand that may not be possible or worth your effort but that's the only "limited edition" change I would ask for. Maybe if others agree it may be worth your effort.

I submitted the shipping form already but I just read about the 380 transfer and I'd like that as well. Would be cool to have a limited edition thing too!

Also interested in 380 transfer, I think after some reflection. Keep the anticipation going

Ahh I love the seamless design of the 380, but F13 tkls are not for me sadly  :(

There's a cerakote shop that's near me, maybe I'll look into that once mine arrives...

A lot more transfer interest than I expected - let me work it out and get back to y'all in a couple days. I realized I can't both let people transfer but also ship them the board first. I'll most likely begin conversations before shipping boards out. Seems like three scenarios are proving popular: receive BG board and get partial refund; receive BG board and also be able to purchase a limited edition 380; and full transfer to 380.
