I let someone borrow my tripod, and now I'm stuck with crappy pictures as a result =/

Anyway, I just took one since it's also a crappy day out, I'll save the rest for tomorrow's blog update:

I think from that view, it might be too nuts.  From a more birds eye aerial view, it's a little better.  But I think you're right, this may be too much red lol

So, the clear plastic loops for the shift keys that I pulled from my FILCO set fit loose and fall right out of my RA shift keys. Does anyone have any suggestions? My first time fully replacing caps.

^Put some silicone grease on the male portion of the white tabs.  That will let them stay in the keycap while you are threading the stabilizer bar through them.

Glad I didn't grad those red mods, it makes the board too loud, and not enough subtle classiness.

Had to post my "Pure Alert"
Vanilla pure without back lighting, MX Reds, tsangan kit gave me the short shift and the star key since the ~` key is a different  profile. Almost forget the amazing red Whisker cable that matches perfectly.

I like the feel of these keys but the alternate profile to OEMs that the regular Pure PBTs had will take some getting used to. I want to see if there is a way to get these keys to work on a Steelseries 7G that has the big ass enter. Pictures are off of my Galaxy Nexus perhaps later at home I'll get out the SLR.

Use a small piece of thin paper, and cover the holes of the shift keys, then put the stabilizer piece into it.  It gives the stabilizer piece a little more surface area for better fitment.  (That's what she said?)

PS: To all the guys saying I don't work hard enough for all of this supposed money I'm rolling in, I've been working 18+ hour days for over the last week on this group buy, for which I am greeted with rude slander and libel in return. Haters gonna hate, but they can all kiss my ass because no matter how hard this is or how much work it ends up being, its worth it to see these projects brought to life. This summer was extremely fun for me doing this instead of slaving away detailing cars. For that everyone, you have my thanks.

@danielucf: I love that look but prehaps swap the / and backspace keys with their alt colors or similar? I think having the/ key opposite of the keys above and below ruins the continity... maybe.

Yes, in the plumbing aisle.  Shouldn't be more than a few bucks....plus you can use it to lubricate the stabilizer bars too.

I like this a little more since  there isn't any spacing like on a TKL. I thought about doing white control keys too with this too.

^ I may have forgotten to put some of the corrective white mod kits I received from SP to fix the red mod mistake in some of the orders. In the majority of them I put the keys together into 1 correct base set, but in others where there was plenty of room, I just left them in the original bag they were sent to me in. The extra bag helped pad the box and kept them from moving around as much. Its possible I didn't grab one of those bags and you're missing a third of your set basically. If that's the case I'll send you the keys pronto.

Cheers,
Dave

So, the clear plastic loops for the shift keys that I pulled from my FILCO set fit loose and fall right out of my RA shift keys. Does anyone have any suggestions? My first time fully replacing caps.

When I had a similar problem (with different keycaps), I used some 'invisible' Scotch tape.  I heard about this idea  from somewhere on the internet, but I can't remember from where...

I put some thin tape on a cutting mat, and cut this into 0.20 inch squares. I put one square on the key cap stem (adhesive side toward the key cap). When I inserted the white stabilizer do-dad into the key cap, this made what seemed like a nice fit as it pushed the tape into the key cap.

I haven't tried to remove this to see how easy it would be to get out the tape piece to re-use the key cap in future mods.

At any rate, one more idea if the need arises in the future.

Too true, the red is ideal, maybe because I have already a lot of white and grey keysets but this one with the red modifiers really do set it off nicely.  ;D

Can't wait to get mine because this Red Alert 2 buy was superb.  I'm happy with what ever Dave hands out maybe because I am stuck here in the arse-pit of the planet and I am happy to be part of any Group Buy arranged in the good U.S. of A.  :D

Received the RA keycaps with red modifiers today! Thanks, rag!!! They look fantastic. I'll post pics as soon I have a chance.

The red modifiers had trouble holding plastic stabilizers. As a fix, I cut small pieces off the heavy gauge plastic bag that held the spacebar and pushed the pieces in. The plastic worked perfectly. They fit nice and tight.

This was the first group buy I've been in. I'm very happy with how everything turned out! Props to rag for working through the crap. I'll be happy to take part in another group buy!!

Coolio, yeah that's a common problem with SP keys. I'm sure there are a few threads on the various ways of getting around it. That seems like the best option though. It just needs a little shim. Thanks for the compliments! I do my best.

They really do just look amazing. There something about white keys on a black board that just look awesome.  I tried playing around, adding different red/white/black novelty keys, and i just coulnd't seem to find any set up i like more than just the set by itself.  Thanks again rag, great set

Man all these pics of red mods really make me jelly.  I find it ridiculous that SP managed to screw up my red mods so badly (THREE missing keys!)
They really have to get their **** together.  Thanks for taking care of it so quickly, Rag.

I'm going to wrap one of my TKL boards to accommodate the RA base set + red mods.
Does anyone have a recommendation on what color to use?  I'm thinking yellow but not sure how that'd look.

These look excellent on my TKL Filco in black. I thought I would need to pickup a white board somehow to make the keycaps look decent, but a black case looks superb against these caps.
