Title: Keyboard Layout Diagrams
Post by: E TwentyNine on Sun, 14 April 2013, 09:34:31
I've seen a few variations of people proposing keyboard layouts and they show these nice graphics of what they look like.

Like most of the diagrams here (https://www.google.com/search?q=keyboard+diagram&tbm=isch)

I did find a site that would let you lay out a keyboard using a text notation of width of each key, letter, etc, but I seemed to have lost it.

So...what sites/programs will allow me to easily create a layout diagram?

On a side note, I've seen some people have keyboard graphics in their sigs.  Are those hand done or is there a program for that too?

Matt30 made a layout generator website but I don't remember the link of the top of my head. When I'm at home later I'll link you.

The keyboard pixel art signatures came from this thread (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=19113.0).

I don't know about matt3o's but neophyte has one on his page:

Personally, I prefer the older one with the text-entry and massive URL
http://ne0.cc/laygen/

here's an example of a KBT race  (http://ne0.cc/laygen/#Esc%3A%3A1.5%20%20F1%3A%3A1%20%20F2%3A%3A1%20%20F3%3A%3A1%20%20F4%3A%3A1%20%20F5%3A%3A1%20%20F6%3A%3A1%20%20F7%3A%3A1%20%20F8%3A%3A1%20%20F9%3A%3A1%20%20F10%3A%3A1%20%20F11%3A%3A1%20%20F12%3A%3A1%20%20fn%3A%3A1%20%20Del%3A%3A1.5%24%24%0A%60%7E%3A%3A1%20%201%3A%3A1%20%202%3A%3A1%20%203%3A%3A1%20%204%3A%3A1%20%205%3A%3A1%20%206%3A%3A1%20%207%3A%3A1%20%208%3A%3A1%20%209%3A%3A1%20%200%3A%3A1%20%20-_%3A%3A1%20%20+%3D%3A%3A1%20%20Backspace%3A%3A2%20%20%20%20Home%3A%3A1%24%24%0ATab%3A%3A1.5%20%20Q%3A%3A1%20%20W%3A%3A1%20%20E%3A%3A1%20%20R%3A%3A1%20%20T%3A%3A1%20%20Y%3A%3A1%20%20U%3A%3A1%20%20I%3A%3A1%20%20O%3A%3A1%20%20P%3A%3A1%20%20%5B%7B%3A%3A1%20%20%5D%7D%3A%3A1%20%20%5C%7C%3A%3A1.5%20%20PgUp%3A%3A1%24%24%0ACaps%20Lock%3A%3A1.75%20%20A%3A%3A1%20%20S%3A%3A1%20%20D%3A%3A1%20%20F%3A%3A1%20%20G%3A%3A1%20%20H%3A%3A1%20%20J%3A%3A1%20%20K%3A%3A1%20%20L%3A%3A1%20%20%3B%3A%20%3A%3A1%20%20%27%22%3A%3A1%20%20Enter%3A%3A2.25%20%20PgDn%3A%3A1%24%24%0AShift%3A%3A2.25%20%20Z%3A%3A1%20%20X%3A%3A1%20%20C%3A%3A1%20%20V%3A%3A1%20%20B%3A%3A1%20%20N%3A%3A1%20%20M%3A%3A1%20%20%3C%2C%3A%3A1%20%20%3E.%3A%3A1%20%20/%3F%3A%3A1%20%20Shift%3A%3A1.25%20%20%5E%3A%3A1.25%20%20END%3A%3A1.25%24%24%0AControl%3A%3A1.25%20%20Meta%3A%3A1.25%20%20Alt%3A%3A1.25%20%20Space%3A%3A6.25%20%20Alt%3A%3A1.25%20%20Ctrl%3A%3A1%20%20%3C%3A%3A1.25%20%20V%3A%3A1.25%20%20%3E%3A%3A1.25%24%24)

The quickest way i found want to get a blank layout and just handwrite in your layout. Its also easy to make changes.

The older one is the one I had found before.  Bookmarking it now, thanks.

With that info I found neophyte's thread on it on DT (http://deskthority.net/workshop-f7/tiny-javascript-keyboard-layout-editor-t5110.html)

Crap, dorkvader is right. I meant ne0phyte's. I confused that with matt30's color layout generator. Thanks for the help dorkvader!

Now the two just need to have a baby and we can conceive the ULTIMATE COLORED LAYOUT!

matt30 actually announced a layout generator (in Java IIRC), but never published it AFAIK.

Oh, yep I remember that. He said he was going to drop the source and never did.
