I usually download stuff overnight, and play locally. Much smoother, even with a fast and reliable connection (which I don't have, anyway...)

well that's the only other option hahahah..

Of course there's netflix though,  which buffers just like youtube , so that even an unstable connection's not such an issue..

But SD is GOAT for retro consoles.

Sorry, just had to post that as I'm finally picking up a good CRT this weekend.

I'm fine with watching something in SD which was meant to be watched in SD - like older TV shows - particularly those shot in 4:3 ratio, or video games. But if I can't stand watching something in SD when I know very well it could be in HD. It just annoys me.

That feel when you watch something you downloaded six years ago in SD and haven't upgraded yet.

-_-

Apparently 240 vertical resolution was acceptable for me at one time...

240 vertical ?  that's only 21:9 movies i think..   the 16:9 films are at least 350-400 vertical

For countries with ~1mbit  these are probably still the norm

ever since ~10mbit most people moved to at least 720p

and at around 25mbit, is when people began torrenting bluray-isos..

Like I said, this was a very long time ago. Low-tier DSL. Bluray was not a thing.

Yeah.

brb Gonna check.

Update: Just checked. Looks like it doesn't support progressive scan. Using it for systems released before 2000, anyway.

I remember there was this wide screen trinitron unit.. back in the day, one of my friends had it..

It supported 720p and 1080i I believe..   We were still playing xbox 1 and ps2 back then,  but the graphics looked really good to us back then.
