Since I got the mechanical keyboard fever I've always wanted a Clack Factory cap to replace the one i sold.
I decided to sculpt my own skull on a MX cap. Its a one off thing, let me know what you think of it. I still gotta finish the detailing work and paint it.

Edit:

I had the scrap the original cap and start over. I don't really like how this came out so I'll end up doing a 3rd skull.  After the skull is done I will make a generic hero.

Not bad..  not bad at all.  Is this your first time sculpting things?  Anyway, finish it first, paint it and then post back the result.

Wow! Great job on that. Also, if you look at ClickClack's vendor forum, he posts when the sales are. If you are able to snag one, they aren't too expensive. I paid $13.00 total for one red Click Clack factory second.

hah nice work, now you just need to paint it a color that is not available and sell it as the elusive CF skull.  I bet some sucker will be all over it.  Of course you need to crafty on your wording.  Have you seen the Chinese fake eggs?

BTW it is a nice first try, but could you make your own unique designes for potential sales?

Being that it has 5 teeth, he's not doing so bad on the uniqueness. This ones a bit closer to the Punisher skull.

Good ethics, boost.

And the work is great as well! Did you have difficulty sculpting the stem (from a casting) or this that a thick keycap that you've engraved down?

Either way, looks great. Are you planning on a deep forehead dimple like the normal CC ones?

thanks. no deep forehead, I might round the head on top tho.

I put about 1/8 - 2/8 of putty plastic and let it dry for a few days. Then started etching away until i got the outline. now jsut gotta finish all the detailing

Very cool, impressive, especially for a first try.

For Generic hero I imagine it being a face with some sort of mask covering/outlining the eyes?
or am i completely off?

either way i'm excited to see the image of the cap :P

It is smooth on the top. It's not white, that a very light gray which is the natural color of the putty plastic

I didn't hit it with a clear coat yet. Don't know if I will.

I just orders some blank caps. Once I get a cap that I like it will be molded.

Ahem, unicorn?

If you make me a black and white unicorn, I'll buy it from you.  Name your price.

Oh, and great job.  But dude, put the camera on something solid and take the pic, at least it won't be blurred.

Actually that's a focus issue, not a motion blur issue.  No idea how to deal with focus issues on a cell cam tho.

usually for taking shots that close, you need to put it in macro mode, or it'll be blurry. I'd say for a cellphone, you can back away (and then crop it, like digital zoom) if it doesn't have that mode.
