Introduction

TheKeyPlus is an acrylic keyboard shop, aiming to do cheap,fast and reliable services.
There is a small introduction of who I am and how I do cut acrylic and whatsoever on my website (link below).

In the future I'm planning to release many other products and make acrylic really affordable for everyone.

Inspiration

The Bongo Box is an acrylic artisan box inspired by the original bongocat.
Before making this project, i started by contacting all related people to bongo the artisan Maker hello caps, the designer of the bongo case for keyboard and the creator of the original meme (StrayRogue) of the bongo cat. They all agreed to let me run this design.

The Product

At the moment the prototype has 7 layers, but realized that some SA caps won't fit since the gap
from bottom to top is not big enough.
So I duplicated the middle layer (in the end it doesn't change anything), you can look at the renders below.


Specifications :

- 8 Acrylic Layers + 1 Cover
- 3mm acrylic layers
- 1 Clear Acrylic Cover
- 21mm Max Caps height
- Price : 40$/€ shipping excluded.
- Storage capacity is TBD, I would like to base it off IC results, right now the prototype is 5x5, 3x3 and 7x7 are the possible options.
- Length : 20 cm
- Width : 13 cm

- 10 M2 Screws
- 1 Clear Acrylic Cover
- 1 Bongo Box

-Frosted White

All the possible colors are shown below with some samples. The 5 colors with the most votes (excluding frosted) will get chosen for the GB.
IF many colors are tied in number i will raise the cap of colors.
The accuracy of the picture isn't going to be 100% accurate in real life, which means I won't
change the color during the group-buy for whatever reason.
Which means before the group-buy runs I will make a poll to choose the final colors.

Bear in mind that frosted acrylic with those cut is really difficult to capture, so i hope the other pictures make up your mind.

FCFS(FirstComeFirstServed) GB, all units sold or end of date of the GB.
No MOQ, 300 Units cap.

TBD, collecting suggestions information but i see no reason at the moment to delay it.

Q&A :

What does it include at 35 bucks?
It includes the bongo box of 8 layers 3mm thick, 1 acrylic cover, 8 screws, 4 standoffs.
Will extras be available ?
Yes.
Who will be the sellers ?

How many units are available ?
300 Total units.
Will other colors be available?
TBD.
Will there be a round 2 ?
Depends on the results of this GB but normally, yes.
For how long will the gb run ?
The GB will be run for one month or until all units are sold.
Can I buy 69 units?
If you can afford it, yes you can.
What is the ETA ?
3 Months for production (no delay included) .
4 weeks for shipping + packing + sorting.
Will it be open source?
No, but other rounds will be run.
Will we see another size ?
Not sure, maybe.

Updates
17/07 - Proxies will be added (i will contact some proxies for all continents after lots of feedbacks, If the number of answers is satisfying we will most likely do an unlimited GB. Also lots of people told me about lilac/wysteria color our supplier have one color similar so this color will be proposed for sure.)

Regarding the results lots of people would like a US proxy (which i totally understand) BUT consider that the original pricing might be affected from this. I will look further into it after i get a satisfying number of answers.

Update :

After lots of feedbacks from the IC form, I will indeed choose proxies for all regions.

Also the lilac/wysteria color has been asked a lot of time, i will try to find something with our supplier.

GB will most likely be unlimited since the results are satisfying enough (or soft cap).

I'm back with some update.

Proxies are added to the post, I'm still waiting for further informations for some other proxies.

For SEA, i couldn't find any proxies satisfying enough and some of them declined.
If some people are in the same country and know each other i will try to find a way to merge orders if you want, still working on this.

Price changed because of the air freight, i hope you understand but 5 extra bucks avoid the hustle for everyone from every region.

I'm planning to send all vendors some units of the bongo box so they can take pictures and do some posts.

Also estimated GB date is Mid-August.

For the EU people, i'm going to ship everything from France, for the Middle East people we will ship from Lebanon.

For the colors, a lot of people asked for a sweet purple and pastel colors, so i'm going to come back with the decided colors to satisfy everyone.

Also, the group-buy is going to be unlimited for 3 weeks.

Will you sell a stand for the Box? At least in my case I imagine this being on my desk and being flat on the table isn't the best way to showcase them. Having the box at an angle sounds better for display purposes.
Maybe an acryclic stand for the box could be a nice option to have?

Tripling the stand idea. Would definitely look better for display purposes if it could be angled.
Also perhaps on a future round you could do a 4 x 4 macropad/numpad board (also angled).

Hey guys, project not dead,

I would like to add that we have all our proxies, Asia : www.rebultkeyboards.com !

I'm sending samples to all proxies so they can take more pictures and give you a better idea, they will all receive stands to show you how it looks.

Acrylic Stand will only be available in Frosted as an extra for 5$.

Hopefully group buy begin 15th august, unlimited. Size is 5x5 for this run. Future round for 3x3 and 7x7.

I will make a giveaway in reddit r/mechanicalkeyboards.

Hello guys,

Basically we had an issue with our original supplier so we have to change the thickness of the acrylic we are going to change to 2.5mm i will add 1 more layer so basically 3 layers in the middle instead of 2, so all SA Caps can fit.

Colors are still TBD, will give further update later this week.
