About carrying keyboard

I'm a student and I carry my hhkb daily to the school. I'm now using a soft sleeve and I usually just put the keyboard in the bag with other notebook and other stuff. My bag is heavy and there are a lot in there. I'm always afraid that since I'm only using a soft sleeve, the continuous pressure of the weight of the bag or the book will damage the topre switch, or make the key feels less satisfying. I already got a roof for the keyboard so that in the future I can put the hhkb in the sleeve with the roof so that the key won't got any pressure in the bag. However, I'm still afraid that by carrying the keyboard for a few days, I've already done some damage to the keyboard. Is that even possible?

I use this when I have to throw my keyboard in the backpack, etc.  Got it from WaterField a few year back... not sure if they still make them.

I feel ya, I often carry my hhkb back and forth from and to the office, with small bag

Currently I also live with soft case, and a hard case would take much space in your bag unless it's a perfect fit
What I do is I just make sure that nothing is against/preassurize the switch side, usually put it on top of everything in the bag

I always liked this for carrying the HHKB

I use this from my 60% Hammer Alps board. It's a great case. For my Orion v2, I use an aluminum case with foam I cut out for the Orion v2. I want to get a smaller aluminum case for my Lightpad (I already have one designed for the Lightpad and Octagon as a pair, but it doesn't fit the look of the current set up I have).

bchen112: You have nothing to worry about. Even if there is some pressure on your keyboard, it won't hurt anything because the pressure is distributed between so many switches.

If you took a few springs out of a mattress and stood on them, you could damage them. But when you lie on a mattress full of springs, your weight is evenly distributed over all of them, and the springs hardly move.

Try this:

1. Disconnect your keyboard.

2. With your open hand, press down on the keys.

You'll see that you can hardly press it at all, because all those springs are sharing the weight.

I've carried MK's around in backpacks with all kinds of stuff, and have never had any problems. As long as you use a sleeve to prevent scratches, you'll be fine. Cheers, A.

I use a cheap gun pouch I got off from Amazon for lik 8 bucks each. They fit 60% Keyboards like a glove

That's pretty cool! Then people may also think you may be "packing heat" and not mess with you.  :?D
