Favorite stock Zealio weight?
« on: Fri, 23 March 2018, 01:56:38 »
Just got a Zealio tester, and can't decide between 62g, 65g, or 67g. The only thing I know is I am not considering 78g.

Those of you who like Zealios, which weighting is your favorite?

If everyone liked cheese and chocolate ice cream would you chose it?

Switches are no different, just because most people prefer a weight doesn't mean it will work for you so the answer to this question is not going to help you decide.  Assuming you have no preference for the sound as they're similar repeatedly press each one with your ring finger (next to pinky) and see if it's fatiguing  - if it is go lighter.  That's about all you can do with a tester, the only better way is to go to a meet and try a board full of them :)

I've used 62g and 67g. But now I'm using 78. I kinda like them all for different reasons

62g: Good all purpose switch gaming and at home typing
67g: Good for work typing
78g: Good for work typing but I can't imagine gaming on these

Zeal himself prefers 65g

If we're voting, personally love 67g, not having tried others. :^)

Thanks to all for the responses. I now have some of the feedback that I was looking for. I am now capable of making more of an educated guess as to which I might prefer. :)

New 67g zealios are more tactile and a bit more heavy.   I got them with zephyr keyboard.
I enjoyed using older 67g switches but I am not sure about new ones.   They might be too heavy for me.

I don't know what to do know.

OK man don't freak me out. I just ordered a pack of 67g switches because 78g was too much for me! Now I'm reconsidering whether should I order 65g instead.

65g but Gateron screwed up the springs on the last GB. Will buy springs separate from now on.

67g for sure. Somehow the 2g difference managed to give it way more tactility than the 65g.

Then again, this is from R5. I'd love to try the latest rounds sometimes.

67g have the most striking feel when you first use them but after getting used to them 78g gets my vote

I prefer 78g, but switch preference is a very personal thing. It's tough to say what you would like without actually trying all of them on a board.

I tried to type on new (R11) 67g zealios.   They feel great !   as zeal webpage says "Our 67g spring now features an even crisper and tactile bump".

I hope they are as good as you say because I'm waiting for a pack of them myself. If not I'll try 65g!

Edit: I just received 67g Zealios. Much better than 78g for me (nothing wrong with 78g, just to stiff IMO) and they still have cushion and snappy tactile bump. However I'll try 65g anyway when R12 will be shipping. I should've bought 65g along with 67g to test them :)

67g.

I usually prefer lighter springs, but I think 67g works best with the tactility of the switch after trying 62g springs. I am not sure there would really be a distinguishable difference between 67 and 65g switches though.
