First Mechanical - White Filco w/ Blue Keycaps
« on: Mon, 27 August 2012, 15:34:38 »
Just put this BEAST together. The wealth of knowledge on Geekhack was super helpful.

I wanted a somewhat retro look, so I sought a white case. Really hard to find white cases these days.

Filco Majestouch 2 Tenkeyless w/ Cherry MX Blues
WASD Keycap Set

I love the feel of this thing. I am really impressed by the quality of the board. Everything is really solid, and during disassembly, I saw that the moving parts were greased. Very nice.

My only gripe is that the blue keys are almost illegible due to the dark laser printing. It's like a ninja keyboard. However, I can still see well enough that passwords shouldn't be a problem.

Okay time to Look at it!

Nice attention getter.   I love grey modifiers on a white case.

Welcome to GH!

That's a nice looking keyboard :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

It is cream compared to the white keys, but the difference is pretty subtle.
