IC Geekark Selenites, any suggestions/comments appreciated

Introduction:

Hi~I'm Mink. First of all, huuuge thanks to NightSakura夜桜さん. This set was created based on a set of "fonts", which was hugely inspired by the simplicity and elegancy of hangul and katakana, and the popularity of Japanese sublegends - something more aesthetic rather than functional(and I'm pretty sure more than half of the users can't really read hiragana). Combing it with some non-earthly elements and moony colors, I hope this selenite-themed set would create a sense of mysteriousness.

Why Geekark? :

Obviously, such a set would be too expensive to be a double-shot abs set, so it has to be dye-subed. Geekark is specialized in dye-sub keycaps, and they are the creator of some pretty popular sets such as MiTo XDA canvas and pbt versions of MT3 profiles. In case you're interested, in the newly published 3ildcat video, Geekark BoW was included

I thought it would be cool to have something more interesting than the typical rama artisans. Thus, I made the call for a 3d-metal-UFO-shaped artisan keycap for the keycap set(just like the the little spaceship on enter key), and I'm pretty sure the design will soon be published. It should be spinnable, and we will play with the lights (shine-through? emit light from below?). I will update on this.

I like the katakana legends pretty much but not sure if it's popular enough

I'm not a designer and this is my first time, so any suggestions are greatly appreciated(would katakana sublegends look good?). This set currently is only confirmed to be ran on Geekark. More vendors can be added if people are interested...

I think the set's theme/novelties are cool. Just a few things to pick out:

1. Your base kit has the light gray space bar (only 6.25) and dark gray accents for enter and novelty esc.
- no regular accented esc
- no other gray (light or dark) spacebars in any of your kits (1x 6.25 light gray in your base (no 7u), Neither for dark gray spacebars
- no regular enter key (only dark gray accent)
(I doubt adding all of this will increase price by too much given geekark's recent pricing, but if it does, I would remove the novelties from the base kit entirely)

2. What are the R4 1u accents for? I think there are a tad too many for R4 (unless this was designed for ortho or something). You can probably just stretch out some of those and make them 1.25u/1.5u's

+1 for this note dandruff made. I think having the dark 7u spacebar and white (regular) enter key would complete the base nicely.

other than that, this is a fun set. can't wait to see the UFO artisan you mentioned. glwic!

Sorry that this reply took this long, and thanks so much for your constructive advice! I've been receiving complaints regarding kitting and I think I will remove novelties from the base kit. It was a bit of a mess, as I was planning to make sure that the "base kit" is enough to fulfill normal needs(I don't like the idea of splitting into excessive kits) R4s are a bit too much I have to admit, I was trying to provide more choices...It's my bad, I think I'll have to work on kitting a bit more. Thanks!

Created an account for this! This is the first keycap set since the geekark triangle that got me hyped. I love the alien font but I really think that it should still be to some extent arranged in a way that’s similar to the English letters. Yo that X as an I messed me up big time

I love all sets with Alien language alphas. This looks super clean and the novelties are very cute, which really pushes it over the edge for me. Would love some color in the novelties for accents, but I can totally understand if that's not what you are going for here. I would definitely go for the base kit without sublegends, novelties and space bars. Good luck with the IC!

I personally think they have top notch quality(comparable or even better but cheaper than epbt), all they need is a bit more exposure.

By the way, it's Geekark who designed XDA profile, so technically they are the only one eligible for manufacturing XDA profile keycaps.

Glad you liked it, and thanks so much that you looked into it! As a fact, I switched X and I intentionally, as "I" was the current "X" at first! But after using it for a while I realized how the "+" was visually smaller than the other characters, so it doesn't fit that well with the other characters and it's better if it's an X as it's used less frequently. I also wanted the vowels to be basic shapes and I thought "ᐃ,ロ,Χ,O,ᐁ"would look better than"ᐃ,ロ,＋,O,ᐁ", and it's then that I decided to switch them. I understand how you feel that way, because I also thought about it for a while...

I think you might be right, maybe it should be better to switch them back to make sure that they are to some extent similar to English characters.

Great point! I haven't decided exactly what color to use though I think cream would definitely look better as it's what I chose before, but...I have Geekark BoW R1 myself, and I think it's a great idea to make the novelties compatible with BoW...!

I keep looking at this, absolutely in love witht the Alien-only base kit.

If you go the BoW route, maybe it would make sense to seperate the alphas and the mods? Don't know if that works with Geekark kitting, but then people who have BoW Latin alphas could opt for just the mods. Most people who need Latin alphas might still enjoy Alien mods (esp. for Home, Insert, PgUp/Down etc) and pick those up together with novelties? Maybe an accent kit with alien colors would also be interesting in that case. But I don't know how much this would raise the price for the Alien alphas plus mods vs. one base kit.
