I'm in the process of making a custom keyboard from scratch. I don't expect to sell many but I can get all the cherry mx switches for the same price of $50 AUD, I pay $10 for case, $25 for a teensy, add on normal LED's for $2, RGB for $40, PCB + Diodes are free, set of regular double shot plain black keycaps for $13 so the cost of a base model Cherry MX blue, 100% Aluminium case, PCB Mounted switches, blue LED backlit keyboard for me to make is around $100 AUD. For an RGB, brass case, custom keycap, $171.
I will add pictures after I assemble it. Suggestions for how much I could reasonably sell these for assuming even $5 profit makes me happy?
Any ideas what I could improve to make cheaper with the same features and still sell at a profit? What such modifications would cost and sell at?
This is by no means an exact and accurate cost, I'd actually have to see the cost per piece; the production price has some wiggle room on the end of about $10. Only just finishing prototyping now so any estimates are appreciated. Will upload pictures with the post later.
