Well, Green Flash and Alpine see kind of the same new (Alpine still tastes better, IMO), so I guess they decided to save on costs and use the same bottles for both brands.

Tahoe, Mother Earth, Pretty Things, and Prairie are probably my current favorites when looking at the full body of what they make.

Mother Earth as in the little brew pub thing in north county SD? I haven't been there since they opened but I remember it being decent.

They do these great little seasonal beers.  Their standard beers range from okay to good, but their seasonal beers are where they shine.  One of the few places I've seen that actually has done an Eisbock.

Eisbock? Like HotD Dave? :)) I wonder if they actually went through the trouble of lagering it or just froze a strong ale.

Great beer. Has anyone here had the Habanero Sclupin? Insanely spicy - like your mouth and lips are burning after drinking it. I'd like to try it on tap, as I only have had a six pack of bottles.

You have my attention. My parents built me a 6 pack when they went to New Mexico this past summer. They brought back three of the same beer with hatch chilies in it. I really didn't like it at all. I love spicy things, but I haven't had a good beer with any spice (one of my first beers was the summer pepper brew from Coopersmith's in Fort Collins, CO). I'd be interested in trying more.

The beer my parents got me was Rio Grande Pancho Verde Chile Cerveza.

It was damn tasty, but I like strong beers. I normally pick up a few beers I haven't tried before and have it with a meal or when browsing the web after work. Just one bottle does the trick (unless work has been a nightmare).

The 500th and this one were picked up at the new beer store around the corner from my place: La Bièrothèque!

The wine flavors comes through surprisingly strong.

I had it when they first did a limited release at the brewery.  It was very tasty out of the tap, not too hot.  It had a nice warming feeling that was a great contrast to the almost fruity flavor of the IPA.

Looks like a good beer store. Is it a Craft Beer Cellar by chance? I found out about those last summer and built a six pack of exotic coffee brews. I'm trying to find an excuse to drive the two hours one way and happen to pick up a 6 pack or two while I'm there. :D I've tried most everything around here that I find interesting. I'll try Boulevard's Snow and Tell Scotch Ale. It isn't on the shelves in my town though.

For a novelty beer (at least that's how I'm treating it) it's really good.  It's nothing crazy extravagant in terms of flavor, but it's a decent ale.  7/10 would buy again for Iron Maiden label.

A damn fly decided to drown itself in the last bit of my glass of Sculpin! Most expensive fly execution ever.

I probably would drank it but he was still moving a little and that got me thinking how dirty that little bugger was.

Time to go drown my sorrows in something a little higher proof

Why would one ever buy British beer?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities. These days, you have to be careful of both. They both want to control you. The first group, by making you do the same thing over and over again. The second group is indicated by the letters I get from the Vassar girls who want me to put more women's lib in The Martian Chronicles, or from blacks who want more black people in Dandelion Wine.
I say to both bunches, Whether you're a majority or minority, bug off! To hell with anybody who wants to tell me what to write. Their society breaks down into subsections of minorities who then, in effect, burn books by banning them. All this political correctness that's rampant on campuses is b.s.

I've never heard the term 'Craft Beer Cellar' before, so I'm not sure. Here in Quebec the local dépanneur ('deps', convenience store, corner store) is the place to buy your normal day to day beer. Some specialise in craft beers, but they will always have chips, some canned food, daily life stuff, etc. on the shelves - they are never exclusively for beer. I assume it's all down to the licencing in the province.

Jwaz is implying California breweries make some of the best IPAs in the world and still holds Thornbridge in high regard. I agree California's IPAs are god tier but I haven't had Thornbridge so I can't comment.

"West Coast IPA" and general West Coast snobbery when it comes to IPAs means they tend to have better access to good IPAs.

I'm really liking it so far.
STOP IT I HATE YOU
(...)Whereas back then I wrote about the tyranny of the majority, today I'd combine that with the tyranny of the minorities.

In my quest to try all the coffee beer brews, I checked off these two this past week. I have had the Spaghetti Western for quite some time in my fridge, so I'm hesitant to make my judgement on it. That said, it felt a bit flat and underwhelming. I bought some really highly rated brews before I went down to school, this being the second to last one (I have Trappistes Rochefort #8 waiting for me to finish finals). I agreed to save them for special occasions and never considered any situation good enough. I'll try to pick one up and drink it fresh.

The Springfield Brewery Mudhouse Stout was great - at first. Still an enjoyable brew, but given the choice, I'd pick Mother's Winter Grind over the Mudhouse Stout 9 times out of 10.

I was just told about Boulevard's Early Rise Porter being released at the start of this next year. I look forward to giving it a try. Otherwise, I'm just trying to find more coffee brews to try.

Pretty Things is closing, so I had to grab 3 bottles of Barbapapa while the store still had some.

Oh my. I need to try this. How was it?

Speaking of Goose Island, have you had their regular Coffee Stout? It's about the only coffee stout I can find here locally that I haven't tried, so it looks like it's next in the queue.

It was really great. They use different types of coffee each year from Intelligentsia, a roaster here in Chicago. I'm a sucker for stouts with coffee and this one is basically the best. Currently ranked #12 highest rated beer on beeradvocate. Goose Island releases this officially on Black Friday and people literally line up in the early morning/the night before to buy this and a few other Bourbon County variants. I wish I was joking. I'm not sure if Missouri gets this distributed, I'd talk to your beer guy. Otherwise, your only chance is to trade for it :/

Do you remember the name of GI's coffee stout? I honestly haven't tried a regular coffee stout from them.
