[Update Mar 20 '19]
Hi,
We found we got some error paypal setting last week.
Some of orders can not go through.
This groupbuy will extend a week to late Mar :)
[End of Mar 20 '19]

Hey, everyone! I'm Shiang Yu from Doyu Studio.
This is group buy for Doyu Studio - Chiwi60 kit R2.

The Chiwi60  was conceived by the mechanical keyboard community member gok from New Zealand who named the keyboard after a colloquial term that was short for Chinese Kiwi.

The board is designed to have medium sized bezels with a 30 degree chamfer on the top face to provide visual interest to the most visible face of the keyboard.
30 degrees has been specifically chosen so that the top and side bezels still have presence from natural viewing angles despite the faces tapering away and also makes the keyboard appear shorter and sleeker.

The design aims to provide the keyboard with a seamless aesthetic and underglow that is integrated rather than just an afterthought.

A unique features of the keyboard are the optional dual 3u spacebar layout which allows for splitspace with convex spacebars rather than what you would usually have with the 2.25/1.25/2.75 split.

I have the R1 chiwi, and it surprisingly is one of my best sounding board even tho others have said it sounded hollow, just wishing i could get my hands on the 6u hhbk variant this round, but it looks like this option have been scrapped.

I built a tsangan layout chiwi and I understand what you mean about the spacebar being thocky but I think you would lose it if the spacebar is shifted to the left since the switch would be close to the mounting point and make the spacebar sound less consistent.

That Stainless Steel DLC Black option looks fantastic. I'd be all over this if it wasn't a 60%.

Hi,
there's 2 options of stainless bottom.
1 is raw with lower price, and the other one is DLC.

I really need the HHKB 6u layout - there are only 1 or 2 keyboard kit that support this true HHKB layout for now.
Wishlist: 1) nice thick Alps caps; 2) Cherry profile POM;
More
Wishful-list: 1) We order from keyboard-layout-editor.com; 2) usable Trackpoint module for all keyboards
IBM M13 black
NeXT non-ADB keyboard (AAE)
HHKB Pro 2 HasuBT

some pads is cut by others, might not stable enough.
Otherwise, it should work nice.
new pcb will not solve this problem(PADs are cut and not complete), although we reduced layout, it still a lot.

Has there been any updates to the plate since R1?  Not sure how big of an issue it was but apparently there was a bit of play when inserting the switch. Also will there be better QC on the plate finish? Most videos and photos I’ve seen have heeps of scratches.

Can anyone with an R1 confirm if these were real issues or just minor?

QC should be good now. They produce this in Taiwan with companies nearer to Doyu Studio, so it is easier and faster for QC.
I talked to Gok some days earlier, he said the plates will be changed to eliminate the problems.

It did has scratches on the plate during R1.
We modified some designs of plate.
Make it easier to do surface processing easier by reducing holes on.
Also, we find another manufacturer to make some brass parts samples.
Although the sample is not good because of too many times rework.
(grind too many times, inner side does not process properly in the beginning and it is hard to do it correctly again)
Surface treatment is pretty nice though except some impure spot.
Those lighter spot is easy to find with black DLC coating, that's why we use stainless steel to avoid it this time.
Plate is still brass. But gold is lighter, the spot with lighter color is not easy to find.
For scratches, new manufacturer is in Taiwan, we can compare and visit more companies which we've done and make decision.
Also we're able to monitor manufacturing and check for major steps before it finished.

So there is no option for 6u HHKB at all? This is an option on the buying page and I have already paid for it.

Might not be.
It has to be 10 pcs at least for each color...
If stainless orders are not enough.
We might make some origin HHKB layout and sell them later.
Won't make dessicion before May, unless there's 10 people want the same color for layout not that popular.
It's a little difficult, the only option might work should be white ED and stainless.
But we will not order extra aluminum since the MoQ is not as hard to reach as stainless one.

Does the chiwi60 support usb c to usb c?
Yes, it does have issue during R1 sampling.
But we've fixed it before R1.
It won't have issue in R2.

Not reach MoQ, but only few pcs short.
I'm asking if manufacturer are willing to make it.
White is okay, tiffany blue will cancel.

what's the difference between the stock bottom pc plate and the 7 one?

the 7 degree bottom plate fills the space in the keyboard case. So you get an other sounding case

Do we get the normal bottom plate as well if we order the 7 deg?

Deg. 7 is an upgrade, so no, but you can have an extra if you message Sennin.

Sorry,
But please don't keep asking for modifying orders...
The quantity is still changing every week now.
We'd love to help you guys to meet your requirement, but if the quantity keeps changing.
We're not able to place the case order before quantity confirmation.
It's not a lot, we can't afford too many extra or cancelation after place the order.
And we can't just ignore requests, cause PayPal will simply refund if buyer open request...

Sorry.
We don't accept orders now.
It is because of I enable back order.
So people can still order it even the quantity is 0.
And it's universal parameter.
I can't disable for only one listing without extra extensions.
To let people see all the options, I didn't disable entire listing.

Hi,
CNC is processing and should finish in 1 month.
But we got a concern that screw in stabs might not available yet by then.
We'll contact people who bought stabs and ask if you prefer refund or change stabs if still no news when we're ready to ship :)

I believe it's an MX HHKB layout with 6u spacebar and assymetric blockers. Not meant as an aftermarket case for Topre HHKB.

Updates from Sennin are usually few and far between, best case is hitting up the Duyo discord someone else in here linked. Chiwi R1 was similar, but the end product was perfect.

Not that there really are any updates on there....

Looks like the last time Sennin32 wrote in the discord was in like July (user is Online, don't know what that really means when it comes to discord), and people have been asking for updates ever since without getting any answers or replies. Sennin32 was last active here on GH in May 1...

Sup? We keep getting vague updates in Discord that plates will eventually be made.

When?

Who cares about plates?

You've already published the plate file (thanks for that, btw). Now send me my case; I will make my own plate. I don't want a brass plate anymore anyway.

Yes he is but the updates are pretty sparring.

Basically the brass plates and weights are done and have been shipped to him a week or two ago but he hasn't responded since then

I'm assuming you mean photos of the plate?

Here are some of the photos he sent, essentially there was an issue with the brass coating with the previous batch having a lot of scratches.

It's april 29 2023 and still no keyboard - LOL. And still not answering e-mails. Do we really have to go on discord to bug them all the time? My guess there's not really any answers in there either.

Why even send out e-mails in march 2022 asking people to confirm their addresses if you're not sending anything out anyway?

"Sorry for long wait, good news that we are going to send out your Chiwi 60 order soon." - right.
