Yeah - money doesn't grow on trees!
Unless you are using leaves as currency.
In which case it probably does grow on trees.
No custom color to have it match the interest check keyboard more accurately?
Really love that shade of green.

A bloody G80-1865 uses that size, a real pain when it comes to Group Buys because SP doesn't have the molding for fitment to these brilliant keyboards :'( .
I think the current 660M uses that size as well........

I think after that they will know what that means :thumb: .

Yes, I think it's the new ones that have signed on here at GH. The SA is hidden between the "Green" and "Row" words which can be difficult to view quickly ;D .
You have to have a little compassion for our 'newlings' here because this is a big place which can get quite confusing to the uninitiated.

Any chance of getting some blank ErgoDox modifiers as an option?

I believe Signature Plastics can do 8x and 9x SA spacebars, any chance you can add that and if orders get there then so be it? I don't see how adding it could hurt.
Shouldn't the Vendor-run group buy be hidden in Signature Plastics' Vendor Subforum?
The pricing should be the cheapest for any SA Profile released thus far (if you want to make comparisons).
So there's no excuse to NOT buy less than 2 complete key-sets with Radioactive Sets and of course the mandatory extra Space Bars, for most keyboards :thumb: .
Thank you Sam and Matt for making this happen.
Shouldn't the Vendor-run group buy be hidden in Signature Plastics' Vendor Subforum?
Well, so far "the vendor" hasn't done any actual work on this group buy. They have responded to quotes and told us which of our desired legends were and were not available.
All of the design, planning, documentation, interaction with forum members, posting, creating multiple versions of machine-ready artwork, creating images for upload, uploading descriptions and images, and everything else so far?
samwisekoi and Matt3o
Oh, and the two of us made all of the decisions required so far, including my STRONG DESIRE not to repeat the fulfillment and post-shipping support effort I went through for Retro DSA.
Make no mistake, SP is making and shipping the keycaps. They have systems for that. But this is not a vendor-run group buy.
(Plus all of the other reasons listed above by other people.)

The reason the question was asked is every other group buy using SP's PMK website has been forced to be in the SP subforum for good or bad.

I see that the base set has a spacebar in it, but then the universal 6.25 spacebar is listed as separate. What is the spacebar that comes in the base set?
Oh boy. Looks like I'm going to have to get another board to put this nice set on...
I emailed SP about website issues when trying to order Royal Apollo yesterday, and also asked when Nuclear Data SA would be available.
According to the helpful chaps and chapettes at Signature Plastics, Royal Apollo DSA is up now (bought) and Nuclear Data SA goes live on Monday the 11th of this month.
Sweet.
MONDAY THE 11TH GODDAMIT
I'm going to have to get a full set. My wallet oh god :'(
love the "all row 3" on this and offering blanks and alt deepdish, you are a hero to ergodox and odd layout people
I told myself i wasnt going to do ABS anymore but they would look awesome on my metal dox and if they go shiny they will essentially go with the theme of nuclear :D

To me it almost seems a given that all SA sets should be shiny!
I seem to recall similar profile sets on olden terminals were all shiny.
I'm curious, would the SP deep dish SA caps be a closer match to the shape of the old school terminal keycaps than just the regular SA sphericals?
I'm curious, would the SP deep dish SA caps be a closer match to the shape of the old school terminal keycaps than just the regular SA sphericals?
it would depend heavily on which old school terminal you mean; I think the normal-dish SA caps are closest to the actual nuclear data ones.

Good point. I was thinking back to some of the pictures of the old honeywell hall effect keyboards, not the one this keyset was modeled on.
to bad no international kit. but thanks anyway! Badly wants this.
ordered! :) am I the only one who ordered extra spacebars?
One question, did relegendable keys get dropped? Then again I don't really know how I'd print on clear legends...

the nuclear kit is still listed under my purchases. so not sure if I have to reorder or not. I also got the mail from melissa. I already paid everything and dont wanna pay twice for it
Just submitted an order for a blank TKL :)
Where are the blank home indicator keys?
Can I have homing dot and deep dish?

Off to re-order my Radioactive Kit.
6.2 Unit SB $4 each (AKA 6.25x or "Universal" spacebar)
Also will double check myself but for Ergodox you would need 1u, 1.5u and 2u blank keys?
Yes. For a full set of ErgoDox keys, you need 20x 1u, 12x 1.5u, and 4x 2u.
the real value here is the full BASE kit that gives you nearly everything to fill approximately 80% of Cherry keyboards out there.
Nice one here Sam & Matt3o, you've done real good with this SA profile set that it's so desirable to look at and use.
Why did you do this to me & my poor little wallet?

I'll second that. With most GBs you have to buy a bunch of little sub-sets to get one keyboard covered, so naturally none of the sub-sets sell enough to get quantity pricing. It's cheaper to buy a Nuclear Data base set then it is to buy all the little sub-sets you need from other GBs! Well done, this is quantity pricing done right! :thumb:
also, it is pretty clear the importance of the main GB sub-forum for the success of the set. I hope from now on we could post the GBs here.
I may have been mistaken, but I thought there were not.
Regardless, I have asked that 1x deep disk homing key blanks be added as a new child.

I'll third that. Most group buys seem to completely ignore the modifiers needed for the ErgoDox. Or if an ErgoDox sub-kit is offered, it's nowhere near the MOQ needed. Because the numbers are nowhere near the MOQ needed, no one buys the sub-kit. It's a vicious cycle.
I love how we can order individual blanks. This way anyone can order any number of blanks, not just an ErgoDox-specific sub-kit. Offering individual blanks seems like the best way to go for future GBs.
As a physical chemist who's favorite color is green, I gotta say these are the sickest caps I've seen. My only wish is that the yellow caps in the radioactive set had black legends. I'm entirely new to the keyboard scene though and I've never participated in a GB before. Someone give me the push I need to order these. ;)

I'm not a big fan of relegendables, but what would be very cool are some windowed 1x keys. I saw those in another sa groupbuy.
A bit late to the party here, but was wondering why orange was chosen as the alternate color. Yellow seems to be the color most often associated with things nuclear.
At those prices, I don't know if the relegendables make much sense unless we get orders for about 75 of them. I mean, I want them, but I don't want to pay $5 for them.
Also, do you know if the 2x keys are single stem or double (like a pos keyboard would use)?
I'd be down for a few windowed keys.
Would like to have a WASD/QWER orange gamer pack, there aren't really any for SA profile keys on the marker other than the ones from the 23 Commando group buy

Ooooh, this would be very cool! Also ideal for me would be windowed with pad printed legends for the locks, but I totally understand if that's simply not feasible.
No Relegendables for me, but I must suggest another missing blank option: "stepped caps lock".

No orange GEEKHACK key in the Radioactive Kit?
Also is there a specific reason for a separate numpad kit when numpad is included in the base set?
dat moneyloss....
Quick update: I just sent off a request for pricing on a variety of potential small additions in both Green (VV) and Orange (OAS).
More info when I have it.
- Ron | samwisekoi
That wouldn't happen to include an orange ISO activate, would it? ;D
I.M.O the Numpad shouldn't of been included in the base kit. Numpads always hit MOQ if the base kit does, and if it wasn't included the base kit would be cheaper and would get more orders. That's the one thing stopping me atm from getting the Base kit, I really don't need the Numpad.
dat moneyloss....
Consider it an investment for the future of your Keyboard(s) 8) .
That wouldn't happen to include an orange ISO activate, would it? ;D
No, it would not.
Adding (if there is interest:
Green blank stepped 1.75x keycap at $0.85 each (flat rate).
Orange blank 1x keycap at $0.35 each (flat rate).
Orange blank 2x keycap:
25 pcs $2.50 each
50 pcs $1.50 each
75 pcs $1.25 each
100 pcs $1.00 each
200 pcs $0.75 each
Also, no one wanted the numpad, but there were some people who said they wanted to make full-size numeric top rows. If that is true, we could drop the Keypad Kit and add the following 15-keycap Numbers Kit for $6.00 (flat rate):

Nuclear Data Numbers Kit
Is anyone interested in the new Numbers Kit for six bucks and/or any of the new blanks?
Please reply so I know if I should bother adding them to the group buy.
Thanks!

Orange blanks! Yes, please.
On another thread it was stated that "the core concept of the set is to remain faithful to the original Nuclear Data legends." So why isn't the Enter key labeled "RETURN"? Also, it seems to me Backspace should be "RUB OUT" and Pause/Break should be "BRK". Apart from these nitpicks, this set looks amazing.

Then why isn't someone changing it......? Keep as close to the original concept of this key-set, that is why we're all here buying into it.
The "RETURN" key legend will be restored.
Wait, what?
There has been a slip between the cup and the lip. I changed "RUB OUT" to "ERASE", so that was a design decision. However, the final mock-up from the [IC] thread showed "RETURN", so that is what the legend shall be.
Here is the [IC] mock-up:Show Image(http://geekhack.org/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=55640.0;attach=56978;image)
Third+ pass of Nuclear Data keycap set.
SP certainly saw that image. Unfortunately the final SVG sent to them had the more modern "ENTER", probably due to a template re-use error.
So we will definitely have that fixed. "RETURN" shall be restored.
- Ron | samwisekoi
I notice that at some point since the above mock-up was created, the I and J keys acquired serifs. I assume that is just an artifact of how the graphic was created and not a reflection of how the keys will look?

Hmm, so it is. He originally pointed out that the Dvorak/Colemak kit has a sans-serif J while the base set is serif, I'm not sure why he removed that, because it's true. The Is in all of the modifiers are also sans-serif, so they're probably all supposed to be sans-serif?
Your very first design for this Key-set was what got me so interested in your Group Buy here. It has the OLD world charm from an era that meant absolute destruction, pity it never happened at all.......... :'(
Seriously, I'm open to corrections, just not so much gamey affectations. So since (as I noted before) you have been a supporter of this set from the very start, which legends do you see as missing from the Old-Skool charm of the set?
- Ron | samwisekoi
TL;DR Is the legend "RETURN" okay with existing Base and ISO buyers?
Here's some words to work into keys on this key-set here;
COMPLETE, RESET, REPEAT, TERMINAL, RUB OUT, BREAK, ABORT and my fave - OVER STRIKE :thumb: .
I don't care about "BRK" versus "STOP". They both seem fine to me,
I'm not in for an ISO kit, but I'm totally down for "Return" over "Enter".
No sign of orange blanks yet, Sam? Or were you just teasing us with that one? ;D

Seems odd to favor some words over others, aka Erase over Rub Out, why not just revert to Backspace/Delete if your concern is clarity over authenticity?QuoteI don't care about "BRK" versus "STOP". They both seem fine to me,
See it's those little details that seem minute to you that make all the difference.

We don't have tooling for R4 1.25 in Semi-Matte - while this is something we plan to add to our tooling library, we don't have time to complete it in the near future (probably a couple months out before this is available)...
That would mean you can't have sculpted keys and number keys with symbols, right?
Right. Not that anything is decided about additional row profiles anyhow.
It is certain they won't be in the initial GB. Later? I can't say yes, but I am not saying no.
Inscrutably yours,

I'd like to support:
3-1-2-3-4-3
3-1-2-3-3-4
1-2-3-3-3-3
That should be possible, starting from a base kit of 3-3-3-3-3-3... but I have to make some mock-ups.

I honestly can't decide if it's worth it to me to buy a complete set of these in uniform profile in order to cover the possibility that later on down the road, a sculpted add-on pack might or might not be available. That's quite a lot of keycaps to purchase, that will just be wasted if I only want to use a sculpted profile.
Decisions.
All changes have been submitted to PMK. Unfortunately this seems to have had the temporary effect of hiding the group buy from the public site.
It is 06:35 in California and Washington right now, so I assume this will get pushed back out to the public site during the business day in this time zone.

p.s. JD - a JD40 would look great with all SA Row 3 keycaps.
Any chance to make the set fully compatible to jd40? I know its already very late.... But maybe...

I see that when I switched the J on the base kit, I did not properly vertically align it. Unless there is some other reason to change that image, I am not taking the group buy down to fix that error.

I'm down for 2 sets and I prefer the RETURN - more retro is better!
PS: hi, all
Just so long as Signature Plastics doesn't think it is intentional and dutifully replicate the raised letter when they make the keys.
I want to make sure I'm clear on one thing: Will all the legends (other than the nuclear symbol and arrows) be in SP's standard Gorton Modified font?
If there were a JD40 mods kit, I would buy both a base kit and JD40 kit so I could use Vibex's JWUP layout.
What is the "standard" JD40 layout, and which sizes and legends are missing? What is the JD40 Mod Kit, exactly?

Well, I was thinking along the lines of a 1x Fn, 1x Bksp or Back, 1.25x Tab, 1.25x Shift, 1.75x Return, 1.75x Shift, bundled together. Maybe a 1x Ctrl and 1x Alt, too. Just so you don't have to buy several different kits to cover "standard" legends. I know blanks are readily available, and 1.25x mods are covered by the base set.
"Standard" layout would be something like this, although of course everyone is going to have their own tweaks:Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/co6mcFN.jpg)
Will the child deals that have tipped go through if the parent deal doesn't tip?
So, why is this thread in the GB section instead of the SP subforum like all the other PMK buys? Not trying to stir things up, I just know I'd love to post mine in here if we're allowing that now.

Are these keycaps PBT or ABS?

Doubleshot ABS. It's not possible to dyesub the lighter legends onto a darker keycap. That's always a good indication. :thumb:

I'm pretty bitter about the whole situation
What is the "standard" JD40 layout, and which sizes and legends are missing? What is the JD40 Mod Kit, exactly?

Letting everyone know that as a companion to this set, I have created a Fallout novelty keycap that will be up for the exact time left of this deal. All the keycap dimensions will be the same, so grab yours today:

I think you meant to link to [GB] Out of the Vault: Inspired by Fallout - Vault 13 - SA Row 3 Double Shot (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=62055.0).
I bid on a child deal that didn't tip, and the parent did ... and I got nothing. I'm pretty sure I tried getting a tipped child deal with an un-tipped parent, and no -- they don't produce anything. The child deal prices assume the parent deal "tips" thus making working with that color/mold worthwhile for SP.
So ... buy an extra base kit? There's a GB for phantom plates running another week; you could build / sell an ANSI150 phantom to pay for your home keyboard maybe? I' still considering doing that, actually.
NEW FONTS ON IMAGES
This is not live on PMK yet, but I went through the "official" SVG file and updated all the alphas, numbers, and function key legends to better match what we expect will be on the keycaps.
Here is a full image of the initial sets. (I will also update the alternative combinations, e.g. Dvorak/Colemak.)
This is as close to the actual final fonts as I can get with a mock-up.
Note the sans-serif "I", the updated "J", the base-less "1". The awesome slashed zeros.
I'll send this to SP as-is and split up into little images for the website.
OK?
- Ron | samwisekoi
Looks like we're back to "ENTER" and the slash has disappeared from the 0) key. Also, the vertical alignment of -_ is way off.
ISO Kit is still at $0...

<sigh> That was done at 5:30am - will fix these and any other errors discovered.
Also, please remember this is a mock-up!
OK. The image is fixed. And this time I mean it. ;)
The slashed zero is a special legend they have. I believe we'll have to live with the tiny zero on the F10 key as-is.
- Ron | samwisekoi
I'll post a photo of the ancient piece of brass the zero will be shot with. Real American history.
Truth.
- Ron | samwisekoi
Slashed zero is used (even in America) as a disambiguation with uppercase "O". It's mostly an old computers thing, but it's not uncommon in monospaced fonts.

Can you make the "0" below the ")" 2 points LARGER, to go with the rest of the numbers in that line ?
yes okay I get it. but J is still wrong. and is this sublimated?
:p :p :p :p :p :p :p
Please, please, please calm down.

I am going to get some blanks and see if WASD Keyboards can use their new UV printing process on SP's SA keycaps. Especially if they can do a good white on the dark green.

nothing wrong with doubleshot, it's ABS that sucks.
Currently liking Sam's all Green set because it has the TRADITIONAL colour of "British Racing Green" which is still my all time favourite colour used. Having it on a keyboard just makes it way cooler :thumb:
IMPORTANT QUESTION
Is anyone interested in the following optional keycap sets?
1. White on Green M1-M12 for approximately $6/set at MOQ=25 sets?
2, Green Relegendable (includes opaque bottoms and a clear tops) set of 12 bottoms and 12 tops for $12/set at MOQ=25 sets?
3. Four-key White on Green "UNDO", "CUT", "COPY", and "PASTE" set for approximately $2/set at MOQ=25 sets?
Of some combination of the above.
Thanks very much for any and all replies!

To be perfectly honest, I REALLY don't think the PMK GB "feature" is of any real use or benefit. It'll take some time to gather all my thoughts on the issue, but I really do think it was better when GB's were only run by experienced people (who know how much hard work goes into a GB and are willing to do it, including the sorting and mailing) and everyone and their dog wasn't starting a GB for their "Ohmagerd! Lookit! I made a keycap set!" that bleeds orders from the quality sets. It only ends in tears when the newb's set doesn't tip and the good sets go into production with lower numbers and higher prices or don't tip either.
The old way produced legendary sets that are coveted by those who buy them. The new way produces.... not very much, and at a higher price point / lower value.

Yup, it should be. I'm going to be adding a bunch of blank orange caps to my order as soon as I work out my PMK login issues.

It's already been discussed, and from what I can tell, the policy of where to put the group buy threads is currently being reviewed. That said, I don't think visibility, or the lack thereof, is the problem with PMK-run group buys.
The problem is the belief that anyone and everyone can and should run a group buy.
There used to exist a high barrier to entry as a group buy organizer. You had to design a great colorway, with legend choices, kit choices, etc. AND you had to run an interest check, start a group buy thread, take orders, take payments, order the keycaps from SP, sort the keycaps into sets, and ship them out to the GB partictpants. That was all VERY HARD WORK. So only the truly dedicated would attempt it. But now, anyone with an idea for a colorway that THEY PERSONALLY WANT can go to the PMK site, set up a GB, and away it runs. This is not a good model for the community, although it is exactly the business model that Signature Plastics is looking for.
Also, as DanielT said, there is a problem of too many group buys running at the same time. With the previous method of running group buys, the organizers would communicate with each other, so as not to overlap their group buys and dilute the buying power of the group. There should be a maximum of one full set group buy running per month, to allow people time to recoup funds if they wish to participate in more than one GB.
And finally there is the problem of breadth. Group buys should be interesting to a wide group of people. As an organizer, when you choose a certain profile for the keycaps, you lock in that choice for everyone. Not everyone likes DSA or SA, and not everyone prefers PBT dyesub over ABS double shot. There is a very vocal minority, whose keyboard choice (e.g. ErgoDox) dictates to them what keysets in which profiles they will buy. However, when creating a group buy targeted toward a large audience, those concerns should be secondary. The organizer should assume that the base user, or the target audience of the set, owns an 87-key or 104-key keyboard, and plan the set around that. Not think of that as a secondary market.
As far as visibility of the group buy goes, yes, the organizer needs to post regular updates and keep the thread alive, no matter which section of the forum the thread is posted in. That way when people click the "UNREAD" link at the top of the page, the thread appears in the list, and thus the buy remains visible.
Hey Guys another noob question ...
What will be the size of the space bar in the base set ?
I was reading some forum that the CM Quick Fire XT has a 6.5 size for the spacebar .. ?

Unless that's a UK specific thing the CM XT should have a standard 6.25x spacebar and that is what is included with the base set. The quickfire TK has an odd size spacebar.

Too right ^^^^ :thumb: .
I suppose for the newbs that are thinking about joining in on a Group Buy here, might not know that these two people Sam and Matt3o have run Group Buys in the past and every one finished and delivered to their customers quickly.
Now if I was an absolute newb that just got my account here on Geekhack due to recommendations from other users elsewhere on the net, I couldn't go wrong buying into the Nuclear Set simply because it's run by honest, caring individuals who want everyone to share their love in owning a part of keyboarding history in relation to this designed key-set.
I've never been ripped off by these guys in any way, shape or form so many newbies who are now frequenting Geekhack are frustrated with who to TRUST their money too, relax because this Group Buy is well in hand and thoroughly backed by people I would give my left kidney to if requested by them ;) .
The BIGGEST hurdle for newcomers is deciding were and what to buy when they visit this place, have no qualms about buying into this key-set because it will go down as the most stylish, retro looking set of keys yet made by PMK :thumb: .

Currently 43 Purchased and only require another 7 more to tip.
10 days and 11 hours left for this to happen. Confident it will happen because all we need is about a person each day to sign up for this special Key-set 8) .
Can't wait for all this Greenie Goodness to start being pumped into SP molds. Have already allocated 4 keyboards for this momentous design that brings back the wondrous memories of my youth.

Me too. Base kits are so cheap that it made sense to buy a spare for things like 40% keyboards or a numpad or a GH36 matrix keypad or two. Hmmm. I may need to pick up another base kit.
And so should all of you! :D

I'm sorry, I haven't read the whole thread, but does anyone have the sizings of all the keycaps? I'm trying to see if I would be able to put these on the Smallfry/JD40 keyboard, while keeping the profile intact.

There isn't a specific JD40 kit with correct legends, but you can definitely put these on a JD40. You may need to buy some of the extra blank keys in different sizes to fill out the board, but it's doable.
You need 5 1.25x keys (Tab, Ctrl, Shift, ".", "/"), 2 1.75x (Shift, Enter), and the rest are standard 1x sizes. Spacebar is standard 6.25x size.
The specialty kit has the correct 1.75x Shift and Enter keys and there are enough 1.25x and 1x size keys on the main set to cover the board, but with a few incorrect legends. So a base set + specialty kit will do it.
You can get a few blanks for these keys instead if the incorrect legends bother you.

Thanks for the info, but where would I get them blank?
Before I consider getting this, I wanna know:
1. How does typing on all SA keycaps feel? does it feel a bit awkward as opposed to DSA? Do you type slower or faster?
2. Is this layout compatible with CM Quickfire layout, with 6.25 space?
thanks
I need that winkeyless kit :(
Well, I think I just tipped the parent deal.
I thought long and hard about that WKL kit ... but I decided to wimp out and just buy the spacebar, with enough 1.5 blanks probably to be put on my ergodox. I'd love to buy more, like the specialty key set, but I'm going to be in enough trouble with the missus as it is with what I just agreed to buy!
Good luck folks, on the child deals ... there's more than a week left.

Feel: SA is thicker than DSA and taller. If you've ever typed on an old computer, say a Commodore 64, it'll feel like that. This is completely subjective, so regardless of my experience, you'd need to try them to see if they're right for you. Some people love them, some people hate them. For the price, I think this is a great set to try and if you don't like them, I'm sure you'll be able to sell them in the classifieds.
CM Quickfire: Yes, the standard kit will give you everything you need for that board.
Hope that helps!

Based on this feel, and based on my experience of old terminals and the like with similar keys, I say that these would feel heavier, and probably suit stiffer springs, like MX blacks and greens, as well as heavier typists. I could be wrong. I hope not :D
The GB organizer has an option with PMK to request that if the parent tips, all child deals automatically tip. This was done with Midnight DCS. I don't speak for samwisekoi or Nuclear Data, but I imagine the option is there if we need it. Maybe he could speak to this possibility for us...

You are not wrong here rowdy, this key-set is for all the Rock-apes out there, that smash their keyboards when they type. This set isn't for the limp-wristed, nancy boys that are only happy in using 30g or less key-switches.
After all this is based upon the Nuclear Data Keyboards and they were indeed for heavy typists :thumb: .
And the thunk of pressing an MX switch with a heavy, green keycap on it seems oddly attractice ...
Also first post, hello world. ;D
Does anyone know if the SP 4.5x SA spacebar aligns with the switches/stabilizers on the Pure Pro? I think this http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/layouts/649369d22d5e894a8dfe1b30109db39b (http://www.keyboard-layout-editor.com/#/layouts/649369d22d5e894a8dfe1b30109db39b) would look pretty nice, kind of a unintentional TMNT vibe, but it's about the only chance I've seen to get a coordinated-looking set on this keyboard.

Always buy these two if offered because in the future you never know what you'll purchase because if a rare Cherry board presents itself and you've neglected to get these extras for the Nuclear's then you've got no one to blame for your laziness than yourself.
Just like a good boyscout always make sure you come prepared for what ever you may acquire, in the world of Keyboards 8) .

Yes listen to this man, you can't let this Keyset head into SP molds without the Winkeyless Set it would be so disgusting and ignorant. We here are not your average key-set collectors only looking at furnishing our Filcos, Ducky's and second-hand G80-3000 series keyboards, WE are the HARD-CORE, addicted individuals that eat, sleep and dream about our keyboards.
Hence this last great Winkeyless Set MUST go through because for a Group Buy to be truly successful it MUST have the order numbers to show the world that we are not Windows-Addicted Morons only worshiping ONE software company above everything else on this planet.
Show your independence from Gatesie's Monstrosity and buy one kit, if not for yourself then for your own soul when the time comes to depart this mortal life.
Down to 4 now, ordered one more to help.
Added a WinKeyLess to my order.
Another fine upstanding individual willing to put his money were his mouth is, proud of you pal :thumb: :thumb: .
This is what makes Geekhack such a unique place here on the internet. When help is required you'll get those that will respond immediately by getting involved.
Sorry that it took me so long to finally put my order down, that also means that winkeyless just tipped.
Hopefully we'll see some more orders so that nobody has to keep his second winkeyless kit just for tipping it.
I thought I would share my excitement. I have finally have tickets to Tippytown!
My GB for Fallout (http://www.pimpmykeyboard.com/deals/out-of-the-vault-inspired-by-fallout-series-i-vault-13-sa-row-3-double-shot/) tipped!

Can't wait to see production samples of this set.
Oboy, think I'm going to have to wait for SA Retro as my next set... Wallet is pooped, but awesome keycaps will be coming my way!
Heh... here come all the last second buyers. Where have you guys been?
Two hours left to hit the next tier, and the donate-to-GH level.
Can't spare $63 meself, but I'm bumping to remind folks who can, and are on the fence still.
These GBs on PMK should have end dates that are on pay days. :(
These GBs on PMK should have end dates that are on pay days. :(
I would like to know what are the popular pay-day payments for people here on Geekhack?
I would suggest GB end dates should always be on Fridays, that covers the majority of payday cycles.
Really wish PMK would add a column in purchase history to show final price charged per kit.
So... Now we wait 4-6 weeks. Which should mean anywhere from October 8th to October 22nd?
My invoice arrived, but it doesn't have the WinKeyLess set on that I ordered after the other kits. Have others who ordered "in parts" also received invoices for just the first group of kits? Should I just pay the first invoice and expect a later one for the other kit?

More like 6 to 8 weeks if the last few GBs are any indication. SP just took a massive order for Granite R2 and it's probably ahead of us in the production schedule. Midnight DCS took over 2 months from start to delivery, and it was a comparatively small run. Prepare for November and hope for earlier.
It's pretty strange. It has the updated prices in it ($64 for the base kit for example), so it would seem to be an invoice for the actual thing, but I would have thought they'd combine the payments. Actually I made 3 orders (main order of base + a few kits, then some orange caps, then the WinKeyLess). Perhaps I can expect 3 invoices.I got a second invoice for my winkeyless kit almost right after I got my other invoice just so you know.

Granite R2 is still DSA? These are SA - different equipment. Provided PMK have enough people to run the equipment, there shouldn't be that much of a clash!
Oh, then add another 3 weeks or so for packages to reach Australia

I'm now waiting for items from 7 GB's.....!
Thanks for the replies, guys. Well I paid the invoice and here's hoping it all goes smoothly :)

Ah boy, I thought this money had been taken out already.
Well, there goes my backup money for this month.
However, I am thankfully not interacting with PayPal on this one, so YMMV.

So this is my first GB. (750 posts, a year on the forums, I know it's been too long!) How long do these things take to ship out?
Thank you for making yet another group buy a success!! We are in the process of sorting out payments and readying the work orders for production on the Nuclear Group Buy. Right now production is extremely busy and we are hoping to have this group buy complete and ready to ship in 6 weeks (around the 26th of October). If they are done sooner we will definitely ship sooner! You won't hear any further updates from me on this group buy until we start shipping - at that time you will see tracking numbers from stamps.com.
As a side note, while we didn't reach our target of 100 sets for donating to Geek Hack, we are still going to go ahead and send the donation in - so thank you for helping make this possible!!
This just showed up in my inbox. It's impressive that they're still donating to GH even though we where 3% shy of the goal.

I really hope it arrives before my JD40 does; nothing would suck more than a keyboard without real nice keycaps.
That's true, but the JD40 without keycaps would be worse. ;D
For real. That's true, but the JD40 without keycaps would be worse. ;D
it sounds like you my friend, does not have enough keycap sets!

Awesome!
Are there any pictures of what relegendable SA caps look like? I actually don't think I've ever seen one in that profile.
Ordered...that much closer to the 250 mark. Now to work on some color accurate legend printing.
I'm on the fence if I want to go for something that's neat and color accurate or if I want to go really old school and go for labels that were typed with a typewriter on index card stock and hand-cut crookedly with scissors.
When does SP plan to start shipping out orders? You no get this?
You really don't want me to have any money left at all, do you Ron? :))

So, one thing. Am I right in thinking these (once assembled) share the exact same physical dimensions as the normal SA keycaps?
I'd be interested in knowing how the top part covers the bottom part of the relegendable.
On some images the top part only covers a little of the bottom part, but others show the top covering the whole bottom cap.
The latter looks very nice, while the only partial cover versions are a bit meh.
Anyone know what type this is?

Ordered more orange 1x relegendables... really hope they tip. Just 6 more needed.
I have ordered ALL the GB items related to this set. So many options. :thumb:
I'm going to have Green, Orange, Blue (Vault 13 cap), Yellow and Red caps on my board including some relegendables. Quite rare and unique it will be. It may look gaudy, but it'll fit the theme well.

I got a shipping notification, too, but I have so many keycaps and sets on order with SP that I have no idea which ones it's for
At least I know something is on it's way to me :)

Nope :) didnt order vault.
Yippee! Second notification from Stamps, means Nuclear is shipping out!
I just put a Penumbra set on my 60% and it's true what Elrick the SA evangelist says... SA profile is insanely nice. So glad I ordered this set (and all the extras) now.

still waiting for my email...
Still haven't got anything =/ Although I guess it might take them longer to process INTL orders? IDK.
I have 3 tracking numbers. What have I done?..

What happened to the promised RETURN key?
I regret I did not get into this GB...Enjoy your coolness!
Looks like my Dvorak kit has a deep dish F & G keys, and not a regular profile F & J key.
And I'm kicking myself for not buying an ISO kit. Anyone who wants to sell one, PM me.
For once, I kind of wish this was a beige board. No doubt this will pass...
Rumour has it there may be extras for sale.
Also, we need to get someone to try them on a Novatouch. I'd say mkawa, but I suspect he wouldn't send them back...

It made it into the ISO kit only. I have already reported it to SP. Please let me know if there are any other issues.

I'm going to do this in a few minutes. :P
I have these on my Ducky with Greens, and the keycaps feel great, and certainly change the feel of the switches, but I am not sure this is the right switch for these 'caps. A very solid, almost typewriter sound and feel to this combo. It is a good feeling, but seems slower than my Imsto PBT on the same keyboard.
Who is using which switches with these keycaps? Also, we need to get someone to try them on a Novatouch. I'd say mkawa, but I suspect he wouldn't send them back...

Does anyone have a Vault 13 along with their Nuclear Data. I am curious how they jive together, and as to where someone would place theirs. Believe me, I bow to the awe inspiring coolness of the Nuclear Data GB, but I am eager to see what the presence of the Vault Dweller does to the overall landscape of keycaps.
Please let me know if there are any other issues.
Not an issue, but I misread when I ordered the blank green 1x caps - didn't notice they were deep dish and not normal profile.

You had me worried about that for a moment, so I checked my order. I'm fairly certain I ordered normal ones, which is what I wanted.
Also 590 of those were purchased
As of yesterday mine left the US. Maybe another week or so until I get them.
And on my classic case ErgoDox with Clears.

Anybody else a little bothered by the fact that the "SHIFT" lettering on right-shift is more squished together than the left (and all the other mods)? It jumped right out of me when I started unpacking the keys. I thought at first that the font was actually smaller, but it's just the spacing. It's a tiny complaint -- I love the set -- but just seems weird. An oversight, or something to do with how the key has to be constructed?
Oh wow. I just noticed that I got a second set of emails from PayPal/Stamps.com with a different tracking number. Looking up my orders on PayPal, I think the re-legendable keycaps should arrive today or tomorrow. Now I need to think about what I'll do with those.
samwisekoi -- much thanks for setting up and running this GB. It has gone very smoothly, and I am very happy with the results.

The weirdest thing just happened...
I have been using the Penumbra SA set on my 60% for a little while now and it looked and felt a bit odd at first, like the keycaps were all angled slightly down. Got used to it pretty quickly, though and fell in love with thick SA caps (they feel sooo good on 62g ErgoClears!).
Now I just received my GMK Dolch, thick Cherry profile doubleshots. I pulled off Penumbra, popped on Dolch and... it looks and feels wrong to me.
I have to say, I think I prefer all Row 3 SA even to GMK Cherry now. Seriously, I prefer caps made by SP to GMK... Just seems wrong somehow.
The truth is that Cherry and DCS profile, while being contoured are also "stepped", by tilting all the tops "backwards". After using a "flat" profile for a little, the stepping just feels odd. It seems to actually increase the distance between the keytops, like you have to lift your fingers over the edges instead of just sliding them across.
In the end I guess it's more about what you're used to and then comes down to personal preference, but I love SA profile now.
This has got me even more excited to receive my Jolly Green Goodness from this GB!

That's been bothering me too. It looks pretty out of place against the huge font of the alphas, or even the left shift. Is this intended? I love the set, but my eyes keep going back to the right shift and it's squished little lettering.
Say, does anyone know if the multi-arrow keys included in the radioactive kit have scan codes? If so, what do they even do? I seem to remember something like them on old terminal boards.

Is it common for the keys to have a dark green line that goes across the sides of the key caps tat are longer than 1u that runs across the top as well as different textures of both glossy and matte on the orange activate key?
I'm having a hard time taking a photo of it and capturing these in the image since I don't have a good camera (only have the one on NY phone)
I tried that earlier but I still seem to b getting Potato images. Will it be a good idea to contact SP to see if they can possibly do a replacement?

I see this too, mostly on my spacebars. Not really worried about it - figured such is the nature of injection molding.
I received my order of green 1x relegendables today. Now I wish I had ordered a few of the orange 1x relegendables too. And maybe some of the 2x ones. The relegendables match perfectly in feel with the rest of the caps.
One thing -- I'm unsure what is the correct way to separate the clear top cap from the bottom. The clear top attaches quite securely to the bottom. I ended up using a pliers to grab the stem and pulling the bottom off the top.
Here's an updated photo with the relegendables, and some P-Touch labels in appropriate places.

I had to try these out my G80-2100HDU. They feel and look great. The missing 'Big Ass Enter' key though... I'll have to put these on a conventional keyboard.
The profile height difference is just too much to overcome.
Anyone want to trade a Vault 13 key for a Double Ought key?
I so much wanted to include a Big Ass Enter keycap, but they are not available in SA. I did try. :(
Also, in case you didn't know, I am designing a 122+ PCB called the GH-122, and I am looking for some measurements to try and make it possible to fit into Unicomp and Cherry 122-key cases. Including yours.
Would it be possible for you to measure the horizontal space between the blocks? Specifically the distance between the post centers of Tilde and Vol Dn?
Back to the Big Ass Enter key, where is the switch? In the same spot as an ISO Enter key?
I should have gotten in on those re-legendable caps, I forgot about them. They look really nice.

He stated in the thread that if there is enough demand for a specific colour, it would totally be fine to run that as well.
IMO it would be best to polish up that thread and have it gather interest for any and every colour.

Which thread? Mine or his?
I think that something like SA, especially when relegendable is begging for classic colours like black or beige.
In my case, I am not willing to buy 200 black or beige. Still, you have a point. I think people should post the number they want to buy if white, and the number they hope to buy if it's their ideal color.
If a bunch of people come forward and say they'll buy 400 florescent green or 650 brown, I will be more than happy to buy the remaining 100 to meet tipping point even though these colors are not my preferred.
FrostyToast, he and I are in PM talks about it. Dunno what will come of it. I just want to offer them as companions to the Novelties I create. No biggie either way to me.

Be sure to follow my IC for Series II of the Vault 13 SA Row 3 novelty set (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=64963.msg1519559#msg1519559) coming up...
Can we have another all row 3 group buy (different color). from someone run exactly the way this one was run. Seriously this cannot be the only one ever, I'm hooked on all SA row 3 on 62g clears (no lube) on my ergodox, it's ****ing end game for me.

What colors would you want...
Did the letter spacing on the right shift issue get any response from SP?
or the DVORAK kit...
or the DVORAK kit...+1
The interesting thing is this -- the base kit already comes with deep dish F and J keys.
**** is that true? I was thinking of trying out colemak one day and got the deep dish kit. I figured it was correct
I have been in constant communications with the top man at SP since our first set was received. They cannot do anything about German customs, but they are going to sort out the other issues identified.
I will pass along more details when they are certain.
NOTE: Individual order problems should continue to be sent directly to SP.

But the base kit doesn't come with non-deep-dish F and J keys, which is what the ones in the Dvorak/Colemak kit were supposed to be.

Mine (as I'm sure you saw) has ENTER, but I would have been happy with either. Numpad Enter says "LINE FEED" :))

Some of the fixes?
- Correctly spaced characters on right shift
- Return instead of Enter
- correct size minus symbol
- non deep dish F and J for non QWERTY
Can't tell what's up with the obelus, equal or multiplication ones
Numpad Enter is supposed to say "LINE FEED". Specialty orange Enter should say "ACTIVATE". Both ANSI and ISO Enter keys should say 'RETURN", but the ANSI one was incorrect. Dvorak kit should have contained flat F and J keycaps. "SHIFT" keys should have matching legends. The minus and multiplication legends should match the width of the equals and division legends.
Soon they all will!

The 1.75 SHIFT in the Specialty Kit has the same squished legend as the 2.75 SHIFT in the Base Kit. Can it be fixed as well?
All these keys that are going to be fixed - do we each need to file a claim with PMK for replacement, or will they remake those keys and ship to everyone who ordered?
Or is this planning for a potential R2?

I am working with SP on a bulk fix for the bulk problems. I am also being intentionally vague until I have final confirmation.

I'm mainly asking because I reported some wrong keycaps to them, and Bob promised to send out three replacements on Monday. I really don't want them to keep sending out batches of 3 or 3 keycaps at a time, especially internationally. If they can combine everything into one shipment, particularly for OS members, that might save them a bit of needless postage cost.
Seeing this disaster I don't dare do an SA keycap buy now... just don't have the time and patience to handle such issues.
Um... The issues are really minor and SP is handling it with their usual outstanding service. There are just a few mistakes in production. My missing N key flew out the door the same day that I reported it to Bob and I had it in my hands by Thursday (from WA to FL). This has gone pretty smoothly overall, including SP graciously accepting our changes to the GB after it had already started. There's nothing in this thread that should discourage you.

Well, if this was just a simple "keycaps to match my girlfriend's favorite color" group buy, then there wouldn't be these problems. Instead, I asked them to go into their 40+ year old archive to find molds that matched the design concept. And then we asked them to make up some special keycaps that matched OUR vision of the set.
And then they got made and shipped promptly, and replacements to normal kitting errors were also shipped promptly. Oh, kitting would be easier if this was, again, a simple "keycaps to match my girlfriend's favorite color" group buy, but it isn't, so there are more than usual. And still they are sorting them out without delay. They are consolidating shipments where possible, and have been very responsive throughout.
However, leading a group buy of any sort is not for everyone, so make your own choices. But this one? This one is a success!
Just my two pence,

The test of a good supplier is not that NO MISTAKES are ever made; the test is how they react when there are problems. And SP always seems to do the right thing.
Not that I'm too upset or anything, but did anyone else's TAB key have a flash mark on the left side?
Not that I'm too upset or anything, but did anyone else's TAB key have a flash mark on the left side?
I thought it was a sprue mark as well, but then I noticed none of the other keys have it, so I believe the sprue is probably on the key bottom edge. In this case I think it's probably a mold defect.
I didn't complain to SP or anyone else about my wrong keys yet, so I suppose SP took it upon themselves to correct the ones that they know everyone got. Good deal :thumb:
The more I look at the function keys, the more I think they used the letter "I" for "1" and the letter "O" for "0". I wonder why? Round4 SPH does not appear to be that way.It was my understanding that this practice was common back in the early days of keyboarding. Can anyone confirm?

Most of their sprues are either on the front or back of 1x keys, and on the sides of the longer keys. (and you'll notice that arrow keys for DSA and SA sets have the sprues all on the same side due to using the same mould for all four) The only out of place thing here is that it's on the outside of the cluster of keys.

A decent sized box with my couple of sets plus numerous extras arrived Monday in Australia. Straight on to the FC660M!
Now, to mod the space bar to fit the odd FC660M stabiliser spacings, so I can get rid of the stock grey bar...
Rad Hard also to come.

There was an old typewriter thread here (old typewriters, old thread) that showed a typewriter apparently missing several keys, but someone explained that o0 are the same, 3 and Cyrillic 3 were the same, and a couple of others.
So yes, I believe this was the practice.
Just got a stamps notice from someone named barb and I'm assuming its from SP since it said Custer WA. I wonder what its for tho since I haven't reported !much as I haven't gotten the time to go through my nuclears yet

Yes, some old typewriters economized that way. The Remington typewriter that my father used as a clerk typist in the Army in the '50s lacked a key for the number one because you could use a lower-case L instead. But what has any of that to do with how function keys are legended? That's apples and oranges.

Ha! Most of those are ones I already had. I think the replacements I got were :
Right Shift
Return
Deep Dish orange arrows
Numpad Multiply
Numpad Minus
Ron's special gift key
Everyone will get different replacements based on what was ordered originally.
Got mine as well. This was a far faster turnaround than I imagined. Is SP always this quick with replacements or is somebody up there a fan?

It looks like you could put an ISO enter and a 1x key in place of the big-ass enter. That board would look nice with Nuclear Data on it.

Massdrop wasn't in the loop at all. It isn't a surprise that the big package went slower, so I wouldn't worry yet. Also, SP will only be able to see what you can see.
My guess is that it is in the hands of The Royal Mail or Her Majesty's Customs.
Anyone else in the UK have thoughts? Or their package yet?

So I got my replacements and my GH key yesterday (thanks Ron!), but I am still yet to get my full set.
I asked SP about this about 10 days ago and they sent me a tracking number when they realised my order had not been sent out with the rest, however that tracking number says it was delivered yesterday...the day i received my replacements...
I am confused...

There would have been a JD40 kit during Round *1* -- if only there was a canonical JD40 layout. My JD40 is very different from JD's own, and probably from yours as well. (You can find the posts if you read back eleventy-seven pages.)
This gap was mostly addressed with blanks of (I believe) all sizes.
However, if someone comes up with an official JD40 layout, it would be awesome if it could also cover the JD45.

Replacements arrived, along with the couple of keys that PMK sent incorrectly the first time.
Thanks for the extra, Ron, much appreciate :)
Only right SHIF T though, not the left one too? Only asking out of curiosity, not complaining :D
Speaking of, we should talk about the Enter key in the specialty kit...
My replacements got straight through though =/
Usually you would get sent a note saying you have something to pay for for customs, but yeah, nothing yet.

Hopefully its just delays and not any problems. I also have not received anything to state I need to pay for customs.

I just wanna swap my ABS caps out on my WASD and put my lovely doubleshots on :(
I'm very interested in seeing what SA is like to type on...
I also was, and found that I actually really like it, especially with MX greens. I like the feel of the keycaps, the profile doesn't bother me at all, and the extra weight of teh SA profile caps on the stiff greens is hardly noticeable.

I will be putting mine on ergo clears lubed 62g. I can tell you how it fairs if you would like but I first need to get my flux remover to clean my board.
I'm guessing this was discussed and I didn't catch it but: I tried putting a 1.5 blank onto my Ergodox, and found that since it had an LED in that switch, I couldn't use it there: if I bottomed out the switch, the LED would cause the cap to stick, and I would have to manually unstick it every time I bottomed out -- I think I could depress it far enough to actuate the switch, but bottoming out caused it to catch on the LED -- tried two such positions (third is a 1x key so it wouldn't matter).
Caps work fine elsewhere. Thoughts? Aside from desolder and use smaller LEDs I suppose.

Now I'm wondering how good these keys would look with the Russian cyrillic alphabet on...
Oh, man, yes! And because these are all Row 3 profile, and thus interchangeable, we could get Cyrillic alphas made and arrange them for Russian or arrange them where they appear to belong in Latin. (For example the Cyrrilic character "В" is pronounced "Vee", and "Н" is actually "En", but we could pretend they were B and H.Show Image(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/f/f5/00Russian_Alphabet_3.svg/220px-00Russian_Alphabet_3.svg.png)

Man, I am very sorry for what you've gone through. However, I have to say that the phrase "SP have resent mine" is exactly why this new PMK system is A Good Thing.
After processing thirty thousand Retro DSA keycaps the old way, I had no option but to try and support these sort of things out of my own pocket and sets. As a result, some sets went postal in ways I couldn't fix AND at the end of the whole experience, I did not have a complete set of Retro DSA myself.

After processing thirty thousand Retro DSA keycaps the old way, I had no option but to try and support these sort of things out of my own pocket and sets. As a result, some sets went postal in ways I couldn't fix AND at the end of the whole experience, I did not have a complete set of Retro DSA myself.
Anyhow, sorry to hear your tale of woe, and I hope the Royal Mail gives you your second set soon!

Where did the first set get stuck on the tracking?
I have no idea. My first set were sent out with my replacements, but when the tracking info said it was delivered, I only received the replacements. So yeah.

Ah fair enough - Mine were sent but I never got the notification that customs were holding them. Seems I was too trusting that I would get something.
Thankfully SP are sending it out again as Royal Mail informed they have sent them back :S
Will be ringing Royal Mail every day they are in the UK now haha
Filco seems to be very tight with their tolerances, quite a few people have had issues, although usually with Shift, Ctrl or Alt rubbing against the inside of the case.
Unless anyone else has a suggestion, your only option might be to sand down the side of the keycap slightly.

On the up side, most of what you sand down will be hidden by the side of the case anyway, it shouldn't be visible when using the keyboard normally.

No!!!
Don't attack the caps, it's not their fault! It's the Filco that's to blame, so sand away the inside edges of the case in the areas that cause the trouble or buy a new case. Most aftermarket TKL cases fit Filco. Then you won't have problems with any caps and your Nuclear Data caps remain pristine and hold their resale value.

Remember that Filco only has trouble fitting these caps or any SA profile series into TKL models.

Hence why more people should buy Duckys, hehe.
I think they would look best in a giant beige 80's keyboard. Are there any such things with MX switches? Sort of an MX Model M?

Or maybe an M-122...maybe someone should start a project to make a 122 based MX board ;D
Most of the people Jere has more than just a base set I'd say.yes but I'm only really after it 'cause my board is 60%.

Welcome to the FREE market and everyone has access to it. For the Seller if you want your investment to pay a good dividend for you jump on Ebay :thumb: .
For the LAZY ones who forgot or couldn't be bothered to buy into the original Group Buy then they do not deserve anyone's pity or generosity, skin them alive and don't listen to their made up excuses and lies, because I think I've heard thousands over the years here at Geekhack.
For the seller, do not be gullible or become their susceptible fool. Trust me they will buy it off you at below cost and then sell it later for a huge profit, it really happens here on this forum.

As usual I didn't read back into this section to find out who you were BUT there are some who play the game of missing out on a set then acquiring one off someone here then surprise, surprise ends up later in the Classifieds section being sold for twice as much as he bought it for.
This is Geekhack Central so relax because there will ALWAYS be more SA key-caps (both Full contoured and all Row-3) varieties so you can pick them up now or later. Always be honest, never lie and above all else pursue the love of the SA Profile because there is nothing better coming out of SP these days. Of course still buy-into any GMK Group Buy, for the full authentic taste of German Quality perfection made for ANY CherryMX based keyboard :thumb: .

SA profile are essential to me. I use them every few seconds. But only as thumb keys, heh. The rest of my keys have lower profiles.

They have their junk together, they are busy with more than just molding custom key sets for Group Buys. They have corporate orders too, like this Filco set:

If their order backlog is 8-10 months (or more) on the SA tooling then it's hard to make the case that they have it together. I mean, come on...
When the demand is this high for this long and shows no sign of stopping, basic economics says you either increase your manufacturing capacity or you lose business to competitors. To their credit, maybe SP is expanding to meet the demand. But they need to communicate that or just hurry the hell up. The fact that they're filling big corporate orders isn't an excuse -- the corporate money is just as good as ours (though their orders might be bigger) and I guarantee they're having to wait longer too. That's not acceptable.

this. please.
saying that SP is overbooked is an understatement....
if you want to support this community, you buy the original one, that being said I'm totally fine if you want to buy from China.
There were once many alternative suppliers for full-height "SA-style" keycaps. Made in the USA, too. Then everyone decided that $5 was the right amount to spend on the only part of a computer that requires tactile feedback all day. And so all but very few of the US manufacturers were driven out of the country or out of business.
The fact that SP survived at all is wonderful. And the fact that now they have enough business to keep the factory running is fantastic. This was not the case when Nuclear Data Green was first produced. Some of the molds had to be found in nooks and crannies as very few people were interested in the original designs.
So, as people who appreciate the sweet goodness of proper keyboards, we should celebrate SP's success. And perhaps pause to remember that we are asking a custom plastic molding factory with decades of history to stop what it is doing and satisfy our immediate cravings. Go try to get Unicomp (née IBM Keyboards) to do that for you!Show Image(https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-udeRhU22cpk/TNrURTKzZyI/AAAAAAAABEk/GfUlYqXOOuo/s1280/DSC_0168.JPG)

Will this go on Massdrop? I know we need to wait but will it?
****.. that means no ISO kits etc... :'(
****.. that means no ISO kits etc... :'(
It does? They seem to have been getting better lately in what they provide in the store - for example the range of options for DSA dye-subbed seem quite good, so there might be hope that they'll just make all the previously produced kits if they do this. I'd love to see a day where they produce all their key sets with those level of options, and can actually keep them reasonably well stocked. My concern about Nuclear Data being made available through the store rather than via a group buy is that they'll sell out too quickly. At least group buys usually last a while and don't require you to be online at exactly the right time or miss out. Fingers crossed the round 2 group buy goes ahead...
They don't do ISO kits for their SA in shop.
Like ICE set, industrials etc.
No ISO :(

I stumbled across this post while skimming through this thread (huge fan of the set). I felt compelled to create an account here just to quote this post and say -- so very well put. Thanks for sharing those thoughts.
I too am a huge fan of this set. It was one of the first that caught my eye when I first started looking into keysets. I have an extreme need to pair this set with an matching green aluminium case and some nice green switches. Bonus points if the case weighs enough to put your back out when you lift it. Double bonus points if you pair it with an ancient green screen CRT and a TTY only linux environment.
I got all excited when I saw this topic had new comments; I thought there was going to be news... it's more than 6 months since Matt3o hinted at Nuclear Data round 2 :'(I first saw a picture of Nuclear Data when I just got into the keycap game. I've been waiting ever since. I legit have a separate savings account for this set.

Wow, I never would have expected there to be so much interest in these keys based on the photos I posted years ago! If anyone desires more information about the original keyboards (photos with keycaps removed, etc.), I will do my best to supply that information. I recently picked up some more Nuclear Data equipment just because it looked so damned cool:

SP sent out a notification for Hana, so I imagine they'll send one out for this as well. Sign up for their mailing list and see what comes up.
I just looked at their web site and didn't find a link to their mailing list. Does anyone have the URL or signup process handy?

Disappointing, thought it had deeper meaning -> 'nuclear' event that reduced cites to one profile?

Haha well I suppose it’s entirely possible that there is some deeper hidden meaning to it, but that was never made known to the participants if so. ;)
IIRC the boards that it took inspiration from also were typically all R3 profile, but I might be misremembering that one.

So wait a min, is this a GB that happened forever ago & is just now getting fulfilled or is this gonna be a set readily available from SP on PMK.com? Also good god how the prices have changed since 2014 , if I told anybody fairly new to the hobby you could get a ABS double shot SA base set for $63 not all that long ago they would laugh right in my face! :p

The GB was fulfilled a long time ago. SP put it back into production because it was so popular.
The thing I'm concerned about is how the price is displaying on PMK. $250 USD for the base set seems a little steep at just over $2 USD per key... is that accurate or just a placeholder? Are you seeing the base set as $63 USD??? I know prices are inflated for Australians, but this???

I really hope it is a placeholder price but it looks like things are starting to get crazy with the pricing of SP's SA caps. Oco is gonna be charging $260 for a slightly expanded base set on SA Honeywell, https://www.originativeco.com/products/sa-honeywell. That is not a place holder price either AFAIK, you can put it in your cart & checkout. >:D

It's gotta be a placeholder. That's r/mm prices. Lol
Pretty nuts that just over a year ago I ordered GMK Honeywell for $135. And before someone mentions the SA one isn't a GB, it's not like they couldn't have made it one, though who knows how much it would have cost anyway.
