While I woldn't go that far, learning even a few keyboard shortcuts can really cut down hand movements.

I probably shaved off 80% mouse usage by using a keyboard based web browser and tiling window manager. But the amount of time I spent compiling updates and or configuring kinda outweighed the benefits.

Idk,  Tp4 uses high-dpi  (1.0x horizontal resolution @ <=2560x1600, 0.8x horizontal res @ >25x16)

There's not a whole lot of full-throttle mousing.

Back in the day, this wouldn't have been practical, because high mouse resolution/handling was not very precise without 1000hz.. You'd overshoot/undershoot

But High DPI today is very manageable _Physically_

Although I can see increasing CPI/DPI as beneficial to ergonomics, I think the idea of no mouse for a week is to restrict the movement needed to reach the mouse in the first place.

Same reason some people remap backspace to the left or right side of a split space bar layout.

That would be hard for me. I need to video edit, and that's quite hard without a mouse. Cheers to this fella.  :)

I do the same on a Mac, and most of the keyboard shortcuts are the same, or at least very similar.

It bugs me to have to keep taking my hand on and off the mouse, have to keep finding where the mouse pointer is across my multiple monitors.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Certify that was most acceptable for people who truly want to know about this.

I didn't even know keyboard based web browsers were a thing until this post... Do you have any you could recommend to try? Seems like it would be nice on my laptop.

Sure, if you want dip your toes there are a few firefox or chrome extensions that do similar things.  I've grown fond of Vimium.

I was using Qutebrowser until I realized that Ublock Origin extension is much better at blocking ads compared to the built in Qutebrowser add blocker.

Other than the ad blocking Qutebrowser has some interesting features like hiding the scrollbar, set hotkeys associated with bookmarks (quickmarks), and open links with external programs (like mpv).

Most *nix seem to have it in the repos, and chocolatey install seemed to go well last I tried in 2017.

I just used QMKs mouse movements for weeks on end (when at home). I didn't have a mouse at home for a long time.

Been using vimium on chrome and firefox on different machines for about a week now and love it! Not sure I like it on all websites but it's pretty useful so far.

Nice.  Though I wish the / search feature behaved consistently in vimium-ff, hopefully that will change in future updates.
