My first coiled cable
« on: Fri, 19 February 2021, 09:31:43 »
Hello everyone.  I am looking for the components to make my first coiled cable.  I want a cable with usb type C connection and I have doubts about this.  I see that there are different USB type C connectors, some blue with more connections for soldering and other green, with less (I think there are 4) and I see that the blue ones say that they are for cell phone charging and go up to 5 amps and the green ones go 1.5  at 2 amps, I think I remember.  my question is which one should I use?  I think I should use green, but maybe it doesn't matter, I don't know.  Can anyone give me an idea?  Thank you

you only need 4 pins for a usb keyboard. i'd go with whichever looks easier to solder (if you're new to soldering)

places to check for parts

also, when getting into building usb devices, run them through a hub until you're sure you got things right (no shorts, nothing wired wrong, etc..). better to kill a cheap usb hub than a port on your laptop....
