Keyboard of the Month - April - Vote
« on: Fri, 12 May 2017, 06:30:56 »
So finally we have the Keyboard of the Month vote for April!

Sadly we only had three boards nominated this month, but here they are for you to vote on!

First up is Oprheo's rosewood 60% and numpad

Originally posted here and with an additional photo here

Second is Aelon's Logitech G810 extension

The build thread can be found here

Finally we have Nintenjindo's Realforce NES edition

Original April Fool's day thread that turned into a build thread can be found here

Good luck to all of those involved!
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Very voted, verily.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Oprheo's rosewood looks very nice and clean  :thumb:

Aelon's Logitech G810 is cool, though it's a bit messy  :)

I don't like Realforce very much  :(

I think it's hilarious that the alternate key cap set for Oprheo's rosewood 60% has both "XXX" and "XXX" keys! They're probably configured to go straight to his favorite keyboard forums, where he'll find all sorts of topless de-capped keyboards with bare switches and exposed stems! I'd bet you can even find bare pics, showing fully exposed PCBs and even... gasp! keyboards with a hand wired matrix! Too hot! LOL! ;D :p :thumb:

Weird... I was gonna spoiler the image, but it refused to work, so URL it is...

And now I need them  :)

Congratulations Orpheo! A fantastic creation beating out stiff competition! Commiserations to Aelon and Nintenjindo, but congratulations on being nominated in the first place! Orpheo will be going through to the Keyboard of the Year vote for 2017!

Not gonna lie... I was solidly sold on voting for the Nintenjindo, until I saw the alternate keycap set for Oprheo's rosewood. I fell in lurve...  ;D
I gotta ask, what's it from? It looks like it was part of a typewriter originally. VERY cool!

**EDIT**
Dug around a bit. Keys from THREE Triumph Adler typewriters! Wow!
I can see the 2u keys are made from space bars... Very creative work!

Congrats Orpheo! Without a doubt one of my favorite boards I've seen on GH.
People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done
