[Sold] IBM 3277 Beamer
« on: Fri, 09 November 2018, 12:21:01 »
Back to beamers. This one came from that large cache of 3277's from the summer of 2017 and also has a new pcb from a group buy from 2017 as well. It would just need an Xwhatsit and the solenoid driver for the clicky sounds. It's rather odd though it is missing it's shell though.

Also interestingly enough this same seller has sold/relisted other high dollar keyboards.

That's an insane number of beamers to have sold.... where do people even find these?! These prices are just outrageous.

Don't quote me as I am going from memory but I think it was in Spain where something like 30 of these were found and distributed through a secret group buy. To think though I could of bought two of these NOS for $500 a piece last year locally :'( but I did get one for a bit over $100 + shipping last year on eBay of all places BIN  :thumb: Honestly the 5251's selling so high is ridiculous, they normally were going for $500 quite often and are far more common. They are big hulking beasts while these 3277's are much more usable.

Interestingly, this one seems to be missing the top case. Not sure how much that will affect the value

Many of us have a story like that. And really, when it comes to something like a beam spring, do any of us need more than one?

Dude, stuff's worth whatever people are willing to pay for it... That's how it works.

So slap it in a wood case you made in your garage and put it on eBay with vague intimations that it might be from an Apple I.
