Arrows without a spacer already work great on 65% and 75% keyboards.
Separate arrow cluster has already been done on the EM.7 and a couple of others.
Alice doesn't have arrows at all.
The Alice clones with arrows all look like the EM.7.
None of the ergo boards have an arrow cluster like this one.

I know those other keyboards are hard to get, but lets not turn this into a substitute.
I want a new LZ keyboard, not a clone of the Alice or EM.7.

I agree, a function row would be a welcomed addition.

So it's more of an ergo 75% than an ergo 65%?
I'm not 100% against the idea, but think the FN row is going to be a bit of a stretch (it already is on my LZ Ergo).

Crossing fingers for this to not get any bigger than a 65%

I play a game that is a PITA to remap keys for and the F row serves a purpose. Just figured if we were trying to get away from EM.7 and Alice that this would be a way to go.

LZ Ergo is a good looking board, trimming up the right hand side a bit would be a nice revision.

Hi LZ!

I like the new layout, but I really liked the original LZ-ergo split, more than the the EM.7 / alice layout. I'm curious why you went with the new layout, instead of the original design? Do you feel like it is more comfortable to type on?

Yeah, the Ergo is quite wide :)  Wider than a TKL by a fair bit.
Bringing in the arrow cluster like this is a welcome change for me.
It's not that the arrow keys or nav cluster are hard to reach - quite the opposite, the layout is awesome - but because of the width the mouse gets pushed quite far to the side.
In contrast the arrow keys on my EM.7 feel like they're too low so I'm all in favor of not repeating that design choice.
I'm expecting this to come out around the same width as a TKL like the EM.7 is.

Staggered arrows, 8 degree typing angle(or less), and 20mm front height(or less), pls

I changed my mind on the staggered arrows, I much prefer the arrows connected. But still +1 for the other 2 things

Why not a LZ-Ergo v2

Take the best of Alice layout and put it into the Lz-Ergo 2.0 i.e PhysiX

I like this. If arrows keys are there, then you might as well include the whole nav cluster.

Type 1 for sure, any chance we could get the top bezel to follow the same path as the bottom and shorten it a bit? So would be type 1 but with a bezel similar to lz ergo. If that makes sense.

Definitely layout 1.  2.75u right shift is not space efficient enough for a 65%-ish board, IMO

Although I wish (and I'm sure it'l never happen) but IF superdoedoe's suggestion was to actually make it to GB, I would totally prefer it.

Why not a LZ-Ergo v2

My vote would also be for LZ-Ergo v2. The new layouts look like compromises to me.

Personally I don't care about the function row, function keys are really not a bother on a different layer using the number keys, but the change in the angle of keys midway through the layout is definitely not optimal.

I appreciate the fact that LifeZ may want to do something different than with prior designs, but with 10000000 Alice clones coming out of the woodwork, me thinks not doing something that looks almost exactly like an Alice would be preferable.
