I don't know where the cut off is but I tried to list who I listen to at the minute, came out with these lists, tried to separate them into where they fit (I wouldn't have 21 Savage on the same playlist as Drake, for example):

kanye west, frank ocean, drake, beyonce, jay-z, kendrick lamar
the underachievers, flatbush zombies, danny brown, denzel curry, og maco, schoolboy q
asap rocky, asap mob, asap ferg
21 savage, maxo kream
tyler, the creator, mac miller, vic mensa, childish gambino, j cole, rich chigga
suicideboys, chris travis, bones, night lovell, keith ape

I think the only few out of place are Beyonce, Rich Chigga and probably the whole last line...

I also had these on the same note:

mura masa, clams casino, flume, sango, toro y moi, milo, kali uchis, mø
tame impala
daft punk

Am I missing anyone seemingly obvious that I should be listening to?

Isaiah Rashad, Mick Jenkins, Chance, RTJ, Raury, Big KRIT

listening to the suns tirade at the minute, he shoulda been on the list

maybe chance yeah, dunno about the others, will listen after isaiah

check out ghostemane see if u like him. i didnt like him at first but i learned to like him. u might like him due to a few artists u listen to.

will do :-*

The lyrics from one Aesop track can fill the front page of a newspaper. Almost literally.

My boy. I love Aesop's stuff, especially Labor Days.

When I look at most of these posts I feel old. But I guess I am. I prefer 90s hiphop.

Here's a fairly recent one of my favorite rapper.

Sorry for the necro.

I'm really getting into RTJ and Killer Mike. Any other really good rappers that focus on social issues?

Never be sorry for bumping this thread :D

Immortal Technique always focused on some sort of social issue, would say give him a look. Dead Prez, Eyedea, Sage Francis, Kendrick Lamar (recent stuff), The Roots. All somewhat good options

I generally hate all keycaps. Keycaps are for poofs. Real men touchtype on stems. Non-functional artisans are awesome, I use them for the ESC key ... escape is for cowards anyways, real men go frontal assault.

Yeh man... This record got so many spins in high school. Buncha miscreants eating mushrooms in the mountains, building huge campfires... By far my favorite JMT album.

Nice list. That looks an awful lot like my music collection. Eric B and Rakim's Follow The Leader was actually my first hiphop cd (still have it) and it's also one of my first cd's ever.

There are some fun songs on the new Big Sean album. I've also been listening to 4 Your Eyez Only and Do What Thou Wilt.

Lupe album in three days and albums from Jay-Z, Nas, and Eminem should come this year as well. GFK Kanye and Gibbs too

Lets not talk about the new Drake album

Dude this is awesome, many thanks for the share!

Found a nifty site, this takes MF DOOM's Special Herbs, and breaks down which beats were used in which songs, and which songs were sampled for the beats. Very cool

I'm happy to see my boy Chance cleaned up pretty well at the Grammys, first black hip hop artist to get Best New Artist since 1999.

He also had a self-fulfilling prophecy in his verse on Ultralight Beam, it seems.
