1) they should show us pictures beforehand so we can decide what we want

2) once it's in your cart, it should be locked for some period of time the way ticketmaster does it.

wow, okay that wasn't fun. you had literally 10 seconds.  I waited a week for that.. hmmm yeah not gonna happen again

Yeah, your supposed to just add one to your cart and check out as fast as possible and hope it doesn't get sniped.  No time to look at colors.   :thumb:
Edit:  I didn't try for any, just checking the new colors.

Good luck to all that tried, some good looking colors there Binge.

Not everyone can get a key I'm afraid.  Last I checked there were still keys available, but they're probably gone as soon as I post this.

The v2 Orange/Purpsicle keythulu still allows to add to cart, but it's unavailable . Everything else out. Sigh. I really just want the stickers anyway. Guess I'll be buying a GMK Esc in place of a keythulu.

Edit: Awesome shirt! Bought one. Thanks i3oilermaker!

honestly, it's a pretty frustrating process when you try to get one cap, add it ,  go to check out, sold out, back to store, same thing over and over.  Oh well.  I understand everyone can't get one, not that it matters but I won't be trying again.

To everyone to has a complaint.  I'm seeing a lot of legitimate issues you've all brought to the table.  This is something I'm trying to get right for fans and people who just want a novelty.

So far issues I see getting resolved,

+ Preview of colors available in the sale.
+ More stock of popular colors

The issues I don't see getting resolved,

- Cart dibs.  My policy has always been first come, first serve.  I would like to have something that alerts people to changes in inventory in real time so they can snag a different key, but I hope people understand how difficult this sort of thing is on the people holding the sale.

Thanks to Techkeys.us for being a reliable host.  His server was hit HARD and thankfully it held up to the punishment.  I love you all.  If anyone hasn't seen the collab work check out the following link

I disagree that quickness is a measure of fairness. It makes no sense to have an item pulled out from under you during purchase.
I'm truly disappointed here; I had exactly the one I wanted and by the time I checked out it was gone.

If our goal is to be fair in the sense that everyone has a uniform chance of buying a key, there are better ways: raffles, order numbers / waitlists, etc. batched sales, auctions, etc.

Got a shirt, Quicksilver ork trooper and a tongue stoned lion keyng! The shipping was free on the keys so I just added both of them ASAP and checked out with both via paypal. No problems for me. Went back to find what the collab project was and picked up a shirt :)

No reason to give up completely, especially if this is only your first sale attempt.  Clack sales are generally sold out in the first 10th of a second of the timer counting down.  To me, the joy of collecting these caps is the hunt.  If I have the funds, I give it a go (today was not one of those days).  Also, it took quite a while to get into my first timing sale, but once you get the hang of it, your odds will go up.   :thumb:

i think the first come first serve method is waaaaaay better than a raffle (could be connected with the fact that i never won one -_-)

edit: really nice to have no shipping costs :) as they always make a big part of the total costs for us europeans

The same thing happened to me.  However, you don't hear me complaining.  Binge is highly popular, and has every right to setup his sale as he chooses.  Sure, there may be fairer ways of doing things, but complaining about it will not change anything.  And everyone did have a an equally fair chance, some were just faster than others.

Just wanted to say this was a huge improvement over previous sales where the server was getting overloaded.  Everything went smoothly for me when browsing and checking out, and even if people didn't manage to get something, this was all determined within a few minutes rather than a frustrating half hour or so of page reloading and dealing with server errors.

That happened to me as well with the last 2 colors of the orc trooper. They only showed that they were unavailable for purchase upon checkout (which is fine), but continued to be add-able to the cart for a while after they were sold out. I was foolishly wasting my time re-adding them and trying to checkout haha.

I do think the overall process was pleasant and appreciate that everything went smoothly besides what I have mentioned. And grats to everyone that got one :]

I would have bought that shirt in a heartbeat if it was printed on a darker colored shirt.  Maybe in the future?

This shirt is CMKY Silk Screened - This enables the shirt to be silk screen (not crappy digital printed) and very colorful.  The limitation of this is it needs to be on a light shirt.  I didn't want a pure white, so I went with "Ash Grey" it really has a nice texture to it and is far from a stark white color.

I will have to ask everyone to take their opinions of fairness and take them to this thread,

...nevermind

Binge, it's very heartening to hear you are working to resolve issues for fans, and trying to improve things. I can imagine it is very difficult to create a reasonable user experience for you as well.

In this case I hoped to buy 2 caps; one for myself and one for Sed8op8 b/c I know sed wants one, and being stuck on 3G for the sale seemed like a real bummer. We didn't talk about it, I didn't mention it to sed. It just seemed like a nice thing to do in the moment. And I had them but ended up with nothing.

My suggestions above assume the goal of uniform purchasing opportunity. If uniformity is not a goal, that's totally fine. I suspect that fans who assume that uniformity is the goal (as I did) feel very frustrated by process oddities (like caps disappearing from their carts). Conversely,  fans who assume it's a matter of chance or speed may feel less frustrated because their experience matches their expectations.

It is worthwhile to consider explicitly the distribution you want, and to assess whether the process achieves that distribution. Let your fans know that information, and there might be less frustration out there.

Thanks for all your effort! I love your work, and am very glad to hear you are working on improving things for your fans.

I forgot about the sale, goddamn
People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

I love the shirt, and I even like the ash gray color.  Sure, I was bummed that I wasn't lucky enough to get a cap this time, but the shirt makes a good I-can-still-support-Binge-without-getting-a-cap consolation prize.

Sad. Must have been extremely low quantities as I tried to buy a tongue stone and very pearly purple directly after them showing up on the site, only to first be told the purple was sold out, so the cart had to be adjusted, then checked out with the tongue stone, and then it was sold out. Great lookin caps tho!
