When it's executed this poorly (or a trivia sale...? WTF?) or the supplies are this limited, it shouldn't be a surprise or a concern what these sell for at aftermarket.

This wasn't executed poorly. There is just so many people trying to get these caps. You have no idea what the exact number of stock they had. And for right now the aftermarket price isn't a concern, since it's heavily frowned upon (plus, most people aren't *******s). It's really about how much value people are putting on caps through trades themselves.

I was under the impression that it was essentially 'up for grabs' until you completed the payment.

I mean, it is what it is, but it just seemed really glitchy that it stayed up as 'In Stock' and was able to be put into a cart as entire categories were showing as Sold Out on the store page.

I may have had this same problem.

I went through the checkout completely, but didn't get the confirmation email and it's not showing in my paypal, so who knows if it's in limbo or not.

It could still show up, I suppose (although there shouldn't be a delay on the paypal activity)
