how to whiten pom jelly keycaps?
« on: Mon, 31 August 2020, 19:29:35 »
Hi hi, Long time lurker here and have been inactive for some time but I'm back. I was doing a rebuild of my oldest mech (a gon crystal) and noticed my pom jelly keycaps have yellowed with age and want to know if there's a chemical out there that can safely and effectively remove the uv yellowing from my keycaps? I don't want to risk ruining this set as they seem to be harder to find now then before.

People who do restaurations on plastic materials usually use an UV-Led strip and Hydrogen Peroxide bath.

On yellow shoe soles, people use sodium bicarbonate

Or Salon Care 40 Volume Developer (it's used to remove the color from hair so brunettes can be blond lol) spread it in the area, wrap it and leave it in the sun for a few hours.

All these methods should be safe especially since Pom has no legends, but... I am not a quemical expert so try it at your own risk.
