Making use of an EcoButton
« on: Mon, 10 August 2009, 19:58:09 »
I noticed these and wondered if they could be used as footswitches to send Shift or something similar. Unfortunately they work like this when pressed:

Sends Windows-R
Waits a second.
Sends ecobutton
Sends

That runs an app that puts the PC in standby.

Has anyone opened one of these up to see what's inside? It's a long shot, but maybe it can be rewired to send something else.

Making use of an EcoButton

You could always write a simple app named "ecobutton" that toggles Shift state, or pops up your favorite app launcher (Launchy, Find & Run Robot), etc.  Not ideal, perhaps, but might be useful to someone.

(Edit: Okay, so that's effectively what they're doing in the page that you linked to.  Oh well...)
