Oh yeah, mine is missing one of the tabs too.  Hadn't really noticed.  It does not seem to affect the keycap stability on the keyboard.

Now that you mention it, both of my red esc I got recently only have 3 tabs!!

I got 2 Escs, the second one is fine - got all 4 tabs.

So would this be a manufacturing defect or just a variation?

A variation afaik. Some of my original Cherry keys have 3, some have 4. All in all I don't think durability/stability is affected in any way.

My signature hasn't changed since 2012. I should really update it.

mine was 3k.  DS white on black > grey&beige&white tone >  bigsize key > spherical key > green and blue > POS keycap > rgb,novelty > ccng,old creamcheese,valentine.
Smile (white on black) was so many.. hahahahahahahahahahahahaha... they laugh in the table. LOL

Just received the WASD Wire Key Cap Puller and the WASD Sampler Kit mostly because I wanted to try the various O Rings.

5 minutes later, I purchased a pack of the Red 40A-L (0.2mm Reduction) rings;D

^  A brilliant idea, that sampler kit.  Wonder how many they have sold ...
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

The black on yellow key next to them is Thai, those white on black ones look much different, I think it is something else but don't know what.

I finally got my cutting board in from a group buy over at badger and blade. That is a 240mm Gyuto for size comparison.

Its not the usual fare for this forum but I've been waiting over three months so cut me so slack  ;D

far better pics have been taken by others here

Oak and walnut?

If so, those are the two species of wood I would use last for a cutting board. Both of them are really porous compared to maple or cherry (which is what I would use). However I will say that it's end grain which is what you really want in a cutting board.

My main board is a bigger boardsmith maple board. I wanted something a bit different to use as a two side more portable option. I mostly went with it for looks and to support community projects and am quite happy with it as a supplemental board. Oak tends to be looked down upon for cutting boards for the reasons you mentioned, but walnut is up there with cherry, mahogany, maple. However maple seems to be the first choice most of the time for cutting boards.

12 x 20 which is a lot easier to manage vs my 16 x 22 board without handles. It will mostly be used for vegetables on one side and occasionally poultry on the other side only if I am using the other board for meat. It got to the point were using one board with only one side was unacceptable even though it was possible due to the size. I don't like using plastic or bamboo as their hardness seem harsher on sharper Japanese knives vs more traditional western knives that are generically speaking not as sharp.

I would be interested in seeing what you come up with especially after seeing your wood work and keyboard plate work thus far.

Personally I would buy the heck out of a maple and black walnut board with good styling. Maple is really the best wood out there for cutting boards but most of the boards I found when I was looking to buy were lacking in the ascetics side of things. If you google "maple and walnut cutting board" there are a ton of different attempts but nothing struck me as much as the board I just got in which is mostly just for aesthetics while functioning as a backup or for lighter work as mentioned previously.

Personally I would avoid using cherry with maple due to their hardness differences but that's just me. As you can see maple and black walnut is were I think the right functional compromises meet with a great aesthetics. Mahogany would likely look good in there as well.

Another thing you can try is building magnetic knife blocks. I really wish that something would fit this aesthetic with the ability to hang things below it. Potato pic to follow:

http://benchcrafted.com/Magblok.html

That's it for my derailing of this thread unless anyone asks anymore questions  :))

Thanks ^___^

I always have maple on hand and am planing on making my mom a Christmas present out of black maple, you so might be in luck, lol. Is there anything close you what you like the most. I personally really like the look of older butcher blocks with long strips of wood. I also like checkerboard patterns, but I can see how that could easily be over done.

I didn't even think the different hardnesses would make a difference till you mentioned it (then again, I haven't done a ton of research on the topic of cutting boards). Thanks for the tip ^___^

Also, that knife stripe would be pretty easy to make. I think finding magnets would be the hardest part, lol

Just curious, how does one fit compare to the other? It looks like the BMX skull's stem insert is smaller than the MX's

The BMX keycaps are designed for the IBM buckling spring keyboards, so it doesn't look properly aligned on MX boards.  The BMX keycaps are much higher in profile as well, as you can see in the first pic.  The concept overall is really well thought out though.  The 2 pieces of plastic within the BMX Skull click snap into eachother very well.
