Very muted — pun intended — but honestly it’s the best looking set I’ve seen this year. The base kit is also trimmed down which is a big win. Naming wise it’s admittedly far from the OG Dolch and is basically a desaturated 9009.

How white is the alpha? Is it the GMK CP or a custom grey?

I agree with this, i see nothing Dolch on it
should be named modern 9009 instead

but nice set, will be in for sure

All of the colors are custom RAL colors along with the custom Modern Dolch Gray for the alphas.

And here is a the quote from the second paragraph of the IC post about the name

"Now I now the naming might not make sense, this isn't a Dolch set after all. GMK Modern Dolch Light is a derivative of GMK Modern Dolch which is a derivative of OG Dolch. While this set is not necessarily a Dolch colorway, the name is there to show the origin of the design..."

The set is great! Would like to see renders that show the light grey of the alpha's better. Will be watching up closely.

Edit: I originally gave feedback, but I realised I didn't fully read the IC post. Things are really well written and presented as usual with Janglad's and Dixie's posts. My bad!

To me this set's naming would be much less controversial if you guys went with straight up red & cyan accents, instead of the pinkish red & cyan accents currently chosen. Personally I think red accents would look better than the pink ones, but that's admittedly a personal preference. I really think the big wins from doing that would be making the set fit much better into the Dolch inspiration & removing the similarities to 9009. All in all though I really do like the design & will be hopefully grabbing a set when this goes live!

Can we have a direct comparison with 9009?  A bit insensitive to the two sets' colors. @.@

Should've called it GMK Muted R2 instead; to me it's abundantly clear that's where the inspiration came from.

Also, pls consider R3/4 PgUp/PgDn in base. I know you guys are going for a slim base - but with the popularity of 65s I think it's worth considering.

What a crazy coincidence, I skipped the 9009 GB just in hope for something similar to GMK Muted to appear, and this pops up out of no where! Will not miss out on this!

Good designers copy. Great designers steal. I think Muted is basic looking and boring. This is a perfect example of tweaking that just enough and all of a sudden it looks amazing.

+1 to the idea adding a mod that other than blue or pink.

Sure, but at some point the chain of inspirations went long enough to not be a chain anymore. Names should be descriptive, and within the mech community, the word "Dolch" has a rather specific meaning... which is not close to what this colorway actually IS.

"Modern Dolch" is objectively not a descriptive name for this colorway (and let me stress this: this is entirely beside the strengths and weaknesses of the set itself, its colorway, its kit coverage, etcetera — it's just the name I find problematic).

Most 75% layouts and many 65% use R1 Home, R2 PgUp, R3 PgDn and R4 End (collectively known as "HUDE keys").

Frekin amazing renders Janglad!

some wishes ;D

+1 Alt Gr key (1.5u & 1.25u) in either the Norde kit or Addition kit,
+1 Alternate colored ISO enter in either the Addition kit or Alternative kit would be dope :p

<3

What he said, PLUS:

- Alt Gr 1.0U key along with the 1.5u and 1.25u keys (I'd prefer heavily to have them all in the Addition kit).
- R3 1.0u \| key in the Addition kit, to complete coverage of English (USA) over ISO or ANSISO. Bonus points for an R4 <> key as well.

- V4 (blue) 7.0U space bar. Just because it's Monday and I'm feeling whimsical today (tomorrow I'll be wanting it to be deep red instead).  ;) :D

Like others have said, I think the alphas are a little light. The colored mods lean more towards 9009 and are not very dolchee. Looks good though, interested.

Maybe red accent from Modern Dolch is more sexy with this set.

I saw "Modern Dolch" and got really excited, then I saw "Light" and the excitement was gone. But the Dolch name hype train seems to be going strong so no doubt it'll be a success.

I really see nothing related to Dolch in this color scheme. I apologies for my ignorance but what is different about this and GMK 9009. Is it just slightly lighter colored modifiers? Since I already have an OG Beige set I really see no need for me to jump on this train. I personally have always been a fan of symbol + text modifiers which I see less an less.

Can you please explain to me how many previous statements were perceived to be a "rant" so I no longer make the same mistake again? I am having a hard time distinguishing the variances between this set and others that currently exist. I never once proclaimed that I had an issue with the similarities. Rather than continuing to sidetrack the conversion of this thread, would you also care to explain to me the differences this set has compared to GMK 9009? I appreciate any wisdom you wish to impart. :thumb:

My apologies for trying to continue a friendly conversation and stick to the topic of the thread. However, your answer does not help clarify my confusion. I never once stated that I disliked this set, in fact, I very much like it. I would most definitely participate in this if I did not currently own a similar set. Perhaps if enough interest was generated to influence some minor design changes, I would be willing to purchase myself a set. I was unaware that users are not allowed to participate in the conversation of interest checks even if there is a high probability of not joining the group buy. Are we not allowed to encourage changes in the design?
