White or black Filco tenkeyless?
« on: Tue, 19 April 2011, 01:33:20 »
I've only had my first mechanical (Das) for a few weeks now and I'm already looking into getting a 2nd 'board.. what has geekhack done to me:sad:

I've decided on getting a Filco tenkeyless with cherry browns, but can't choose between the white or black. The only thing holding me back is that I'm unsure of how white it'll really be; in some pictures it looks white white and in others it looks tan/cream/beige-ish.

Can anyone comment? If it looks closer to beige I'll probably opt for the black. Thanks!

Wait and be patient, there maybe other keyboards coming out soon, including a Filco Tenkeyless replacement.

But the price, the price... My balls hurt just thinking about it.
And are we sure it comes assembled or is it part DIY?

Thanks for the info everyone. Most people are saying that it's a little closer to beige so I'll have to rethink and consider the black. I'm going to get a Filco for sure, but when are the G2s coming out?

I'll be making the purchase off of Taobao and yes the price is making me cringe a bit as well. Might have to wait until its a little closer to my bday in order to justify it :D Strange... this seems to have the same beginnings as my car modding addiction. Hope I'm not heading down the same slippery slope...............................

The white Filco tenkeyless is more cream than beige. I'm typing on a white macbook where I work and our walls are painted beige. I can say it's closer to the macbook than the beige of the walls.

What price?  No price has been released, all they mentioned was how much it costs for the parts per board not including ps/2 or USB and Labor for assembly.

Wow, very good idea. If you can afford it, then you have two stylish looking keyboards.

The Ducky is whitest of all, but the PLU seems to be similar.  Light colored boards don't show dust or key shine.  If you have access to taobao, then the bright pink filco tenkeyless is also an option.  It is not a gen 2, though.  It seems to have been the last generation 1 to be released.

I just find it the same as agreeing that 2+2 = 4. I know that people here like to argue a lot about crap so maybe endorsing what appears to be common sense is useful. Just found it funny thats all. :)

I've been using white keyboards for many years now so I'm just used to it. I have to disagree with the shine thing though, when those white keys wear down a bit they shine just as much as my Filco. The big difference is that dust and stuff doesn't show up so much, just keep the grime of the white and it will always look pretty new.

You just have to get your face closer to your desk to notice it.  Or, have a very bright light above you.

I only notice my shiny white keys while napping at work =).
