How strange.  Maybe someone  thought those were the joyland caps?

A side note, those xda MITO caps look pretty darn nice.

Glad to see this project is still moving along

I guess :p

Easier than typing out the Pantone names we used.

Maybe, that would be kinda weird since it says otherwise on the baggy :))

No, GMK uses internal names for non-standard colors. Look at other renders that use custom colors to compare.

Old samples on the top n bottom.

Dolch on top & Dolch Color pack on the bottom.

Cool Gray 2 U was the color we were going for.

Ended up a bit darker like 4 U & 5 U.

Thoughts?

Also noticed the pics were underexposed so I updated them with better lighting.

I love the Tiffany blue color- looks great.

I think we need the more 4U-er legends for some contrast. I think 2U may be too hard to see.

For my vote, this is a winner!!!

Teal looks great, and think the grey is fine slightly darker, I think you should really go with what makes you happy though. The slightly darker is a little easier to read, but the lighter grey has always been your goal, and I think it would look really good with light grey legends.

I agree with you both- we've waited this long and I want it to be everything Switchnollie and Sherry want it to be. Honestly, I can live with the set either way.

However, blanks are one thing... if there are legends they should be a little visible. Sorry, Sherry, but Chronicler really missed as a set for this reason alone, I believe.

For my money as well, if you guys do decide to ask for a different color- can you confidently do it without seeing another sample? The delays don't bother me a ton, but at the pace of GMK on this particular project, more samples will push this into a May 2018 delivery. I do have a build I want to use this set on eventually. Just my nickel.

Seriously though Switch and Sherry- thanks for seeing this set through- it is going to be bad-ass whatever you guys decide in the end.  :thumb: :thumb:

the current grey seems fine, but I would be okay with lighter. for me, the most important aspect is the Tiffany blue, which seems spot on - could not be happier!

I'd personally be okay with lighter legends as readability is really not a problem so if you rather that, Switch, then go for it.

That said, at least going by the pictures posted, I think the darker grey actually ended up matching wonderfully with the Tiffany - the grey from the shoes in real life (I own the hightops as well as the lowtops) is only very slightly lighter in my opinion so the way the samples turned out is perfectly fine.

I say stick with what you were shooting for in the first place, go for the 2U; the majority of people will like it no matter what, especially with the Tiffany's Blue looking so good, but it isn't worth not being happy with your own project because you compromised on your vision

Personally, I think it would look better with 2u, or some middle ground between 2u and 4u (3u perhaps?).  But you should go with whatever you feel is most faithful to the idea you had when you first conceived the set.

The doubleshot samples look great to me. I'd be very happy to receive a set like that!

If you want the grey to be lighter and think that it will still be legible (i.e. not like Chronicler), then I don't mind waiting some more... hopefully GMK doesn't make it anothe multi-month process to get samples  :'(

I do like the idea of trying out Cool Gray 3 U that was mentioned since that's a middle ground.
If it's possible & we don't mind waiting again I'd like to see how that would look since they never made a doubleshot with the lighter gray.
Just black & what we'll call Cool Gray 4 U now.
Maybe they'll make a gray that we didn't expect again & we'll like that too :p

Cool Gray 3 U is darker & a cooler hue than Cool Gray 2 U, although kind of hard to see in the pictures since I just used the bright ceiling light for these.

I don't think the difference will be meaningful enough to warrant another month+ long wait period, personally. However, I am more than willing to do so if others rather that, especially you, Switch.

I'd prefer to choose one of the options available and go with it. Seeing them made got me hyped again! Don't want to drag it out (who knows how long) for another sample that we might not choose.

+1 to this train.

I would prefer to roll on with either the light or the dark that's in hand... or even take a wild-ass leap of faith and gamble with a 3U version sight-unseen. Any sort of polling of us maniacs will likely end up 9-8 one way or t'other, so I also throw my support all-in behind whatever Switch and Sherry decide to do. It's your baby and as others have said, the most important thing is that you guys like what you end up with. We're just along for the ride and seems we're nearly all good with more waiting... However, that said, this set does seem like a forgotten child for GMK and if you guys do decide to go back for more samples, I'd set my mental expectations for Feb-March perhaps?

If the set isn't still available for pre-order on the site you'll just have to wait until it's in stock & buy it @ retail.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So for the caps :)

I think it's good to go with the new samples we have here.
If we try to get new samples with Cool Gray 3 U we don't know how long that will take GMK & they might not even make the correct gray.

Also, I feel like when dealing with plastics that aren't metallic, making it lighter just turns into an off white.
Like how trying to make gold with RGB is just kinda mustard looking.

I'll discuss with Sherry about how we'll continue.

Honstely, once I have them in hand I couldn't tell the difference between one or two shades lighter or darker, as long as when I get them SwitchNollie is like 'yeah, these, these are perfect' I will be like 'yeah, they are. Awesome. I'm happy because I got exactly what I wanted.' and I won't be any the wiser that maybe SwitchNollie really feels 'I wish these were .03% lighter grey without being whitish'

I think Sherry is just refunding people that are opting out so you'll have to wait for the set to be in store if you want to buy it.

I feel like I want it to be lighter but lighting is a big factor for the colors so I do like Cool Gray 4 U.
Depending on the angle, the keycap can be lighter or darker than the pantone.

All the photos I've taken were in my room with artificial light(like a studio), I have a new room now & my desk is right by a window which makes the colors more pastel.

About half a meter away from the window on an overcast day.
Actually quite different now that I see the pictures by each other.

I think making it too light may cause an issue if a room isn't properly lit. Just my two cents on it.

The Tiffany's Blue in this second photo looks perfect with that lighting, I don't even care about the shade of grey anymore.

I have to agree with Puddsy, given the pictures provided I actually think the grey is about as perfect as it's gonna get right there - having the shoes right next to me, yea, the shade of the swoosh probably is a little bit lighter but I don't think it's worth risking ruining the contrast and waiting another x amount of time for samples etc.

I'd be very happy owning a full set of what's shown there in the second picture.
