Spacebar gets stuck when depressed if presses lightly
« on: Fri, 23 February 2018, 09:14:38 »
I just switched some cherry keycaps around and the key is getting stuck when pressed down (spacebar). If I hit it very hard it'll pop back up, but it feels like there's friction or an air socket that's pulling it in, kind of hard to explain.

I had this issue with the FN key on another keyboard. It was just the key, not the switch.

What's the reason behind this?

Board: Leopold FC750R with some doubleshot ABS keycaps

Is the spacebar warped?

And some Leopolds used to have odd spacing for stabilizers.

It could be a bent stabilizer bar causing friction...

I just took the spacebar off another board, where it worked fine, and put it on this board, which had another spacebar on it that worked fine. Not sure how flipping the two bars around would cause any damage, but I guess it's possible?

Does the original spacebar still work on the problematic board?

It could just be your board has a very tight tolerance on the spacebar stabilizers and the new spacebar stems are fractionally off.
