Nice! If there's a change in pricing, will you make a new google form to gauge interest at that price point?

In for standard $205, but seriously thinking about PVD brass weight since it's so nice. Assuming the pvd finish is that mirror-like silver.

0_0 that founder’s price... I might have to sit that out. I don’t even have an artisan worth $500+.

What’s the difference between an anodized brass weight and PVD?

What’s the difference between an anodized brass weight and PVD?

If it's anything like the E7-V1 then pvd is silvery and mirror-like:

Awesome, thank you!

One more question, is there any benefit of going with PVD over anodizing or is it just purely for the aesthetics?

Well ****, something like this would look amazing fulll pvd. Any idea on how much this thing would weigh for the founders edition? I really think if there was a picture for this it would sell itself. Have you had a chance to Mill one out for yourself? @BAS1C

Haha, i have some renders i can pull up of full PVD. I re-designed the weight for founders edition so i will have to re-do those renders for accuracy.

I have 1.5 prototypes made, but only PVD is my weight. I did not want to spend the $$ on full PVD at prototype rates.

I'd like to add a note, i copied this in the first page:
*One thing to note here, I know many of you are out due to cost.. If we cannot hit the MoQ of overseas production, but we still have more than 10 in, I will see if I can get them made locally and then offer a cerakoted option. Unfortunately I have no one to do PVD here, we can explore shipping it to China to have that done, but will let you guys know. Thanks for those who are still in!!

I've been following this thread for months and I'm so stoked to finally see it coming to fruition! This is easily the best looking case on the market and I plan for it to be my first one. I'm for sure in for an anodized brass weight and am heavily considering the full PVD if I can scrounge up the funds :D best of luck to you on this awesome project!

If you have some renders of each option I think it will help your IC run better, hard to visualize what each price gives you at the moment. And what is a PC Middle?

Sure I can make that happen.

Oh I get it now. The stackable middle replaces the lid, and you get a second layer for more artisans. Then the lid goes on top of that. It all makes sense now, looking at the prototype.

Still seriously considering the pvd weight. And now even the stackable middle. At ~$400 that would be the cost of two basic standard snaccboxes, which my brain can justify since it is twice the storage.

I'm glad you mentioned that, I hadn't really thought about how that worked until I realized the stackable nature of the center. Sure would hold a lot of artisans...

Quick update to all - we are at 22 people IN for the IC so far, with a few marked with questions. Just posted this on reddit so hopefuly get some more traction :)

I sent an email to a local machine shop to get the ball rolling on pricing and capabilities as well in case we do not hit the 50 MoQ. I will drop by personally next week if they have not replied, just a very busy week this week with my doggo! Thanks for sticking with me on this everyone. Really love the case and wanting to share it with the community.

Correct! It actually worked wonderfully on the prototype.

Yes! Still in the works. I have found a new manufacturer, local-ish to me. He’s just finishing the new set up but he has the files and is reviewing them.

I need to make a small  adjustment to the acrylic window and how it is secured to the case before production. The case will also be Cerakoted instead. There may be a weight option but I no longer have access to PVD plating here, so if it is an option, it will be sandblasted or cerakoted as well.

I should hear back from him by end of weekend!

Also fun note: no MoQ, sooo it’ll happen. Just taking some time :) thank you all for sticking it out and having patience. I want to make sure what I deliver is top quality.

Hi all,

Top case adjustment is finalized, will be holding the acrylic window in with 4x screws. The press fit did not work out as intended, and I did not want to epoxy however many cases ordered due to variations and messiness. Manufacturer now has the full design and will be reviewing it.

I'll be posting some new renders and weight options for the FE. I am contacting a company elsewhere for PVD option, however it might be a bit expensive due to secondary shipping of weights to and from there.

So here we are almost one year later from start of IC. I for one have been onboard since day one for this.. It looks amazing!

So the tough questions.
Is this ever actually going to happen?
What has taken so long to get the ball rolling?
Perhaps stream line the options so there are not so many options to deal with. Cutting time and cost,  And over all make this come to life without so many issues?

I have regretfully passed on 3 different buys waiting for this box. , I wish I would have gotten onboard with some of the others, now knowing its still not in GB phase..  :-(
Any updates would be great.

I think it's safe to say after months of no progress and delays, I believe this one is dead...which saddens me greatly because I passed up three different boxes to wait on this...thabks👌

Not dead! Sorry all. Took a few months for a surprise to us wedding. All done as of this week, so will be reviving this now :)

Running final checks this week and proto guy will get started right after!

Also Dillon in response to your items, largely it was due to issues with switching manufacturer 3x, and then when I found the right guy, I had to plan and save for a wedding in two months. Looking at my last post that was Sep 04, and I found out about winning our wedding on the 5th lol. Apologies for not updating on the delay! Oh I also broke my finger in October and everything takes 2x as long. But alas. Cast and pins come out tomorrow! Now that Both of those are all said and done so I can drop some dollars on a second proto with the new manu, I will only be looking for QC as the first proto helped me sort out design issues.

I just messaged new manufacturer. Keep you posted. Options will be limited as I just want this to get done for you all, and at a good price.

This is great news and not a second too late! I have been super excited for this since the start. Congratulations on getting married as well as getting the cast off 🙏
Sorry for my hastiness, but after a few months of not hearing anything I guess it's easy to let my assumption run wild.

Hi all, new update..

Sent files to manu for pricing! Will have to get another proto done to check fitment and quality.. Will post timing once I have it, and prices.

For finishes, we are going to do cerakote, which will be a baked in cost per unit for standard option, additional cost for individual colours and pattern finishes (camo, turtle shell, other styles).
I will run a poll for the primary colour.

Stay tuned for full project pricing update next.

Hi All quick update here... I have revised original post with this information, but here it is.

I decided to launch a r2 of my original case to offset the cost of needing to run a second prototype due to manufacturer swaps. Now that that is due to be shipped out by end of January, I can re-focus my attention here. I know there have been a ton of PC cases hitting the market in various sizes, so I'd like to open up the door to comments again. I'd like the keep the design as is - however there are a few options I would like to explore which might allow to bring the cost down, or crank it up with some in-case LEDs...

If you are still on board for a case, please fill out the following form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdqBKEugOY3XPN_1Nq1dYMPAD9CattTRasY6xopzelAJb4MhQ/viewform?usp=sf_link

I selected my options (polycarb unibody, FE option), but tbh I'm in for anything as long as it has plenty of slots. 8x10 and more is great.

e: 420 post count. Guess I'm never posting on geekhack again.

Yes! Finishing an old project this month and then will get this one going. My manufacturer (in Texas) is now looking at the files to price out the product for me. I think we will offer one higher end model as pictured in the thread previously and one single piece polycarbonate with sliding window for a cheaper price. Same size etc.

Hey kind of!! I have the new 2-piece design finalized. It will be cheaper than 4-piece and just as slick. I have a manu local to me pricing it out right now. Once my Bas1c Box round 2 is shipped in about 4 weeks, I should be ready to take this one on provided pricing is fair at a proper shop. I have an exam monday that i've been going ham on.. Once that's done I'll be re-writing the first page with the new renders. I also have an option for engraved grid (for timestamps etc) and I think i managed to add a row of slots in.

Assuming proto and pricing goes well, we will have a single base piece in either frosted acrylic or alu (with anodizing or cerakote) and a clear acrylic lid, held on by magnets. One of the difficult parts to this design is ensuring magnets are held in by tolerance, without crushing them. Neodymium earth magnets are pretty brittle. Anyone got any other suggestions? Trying to avoid a sliding lid due to the size of this thing, and avoiding screws.

Here is a render of the new unibody design in a white cerakote finish.
