I think it is a good reminder that there are a significant number of users that would like to see this as either an option or some way to have it added..there were a few good ideas on how that could be achieved as well...
Such as, making it so if you hit a MOQ for 50 for any of the optional (all extras layouts would be optional) and those people would divide the remainder of the real 250 MOQ between themselves...so if you ended up with 125 people, you would have to buy 2 sets of the extra layout...but at the cost of 1 Euro per key (on average), if that means you're getting a 5 set extras layout for this and a 5 set extras layout for that, you might be paying 10 euro per...but you can do with it what you want (sell it later, use it for something else, etc).
If the MOQ of 250 is hit naturally then everyone just gets one...if you don't have an even number you'll have to determine how it gets split up..but the point is, people would have to pay to get those keys made...

If I were running a GMK GB I'd just include barred homing keys in the base kit. At the quantities sold it really is as little as $1.50 or so extra (or even less). Not worth all this fuss and bother and more useful to most and a lot less expensive than 1800 layout support for instance. I don't get why this concept is met with such resistance.

The thread has been very important....It has obviously highlighted that there are a good portion of users that would want bars...it is more than a legitimate option in these GBs...I think without talking about it, people would still say "you're the only one that wants them..are you going to pay for them all?"...obviously that is NOT true...

I agree (not about the boobcaps, but about dismissing an option as 'not needed'). It's really the "scoops master race" refusing to even acknowledge that some people may actually prefer bars and that the less than $2 cost of including them is not acceptable that's making this such an issue, IMHO. When there are other options that DO get included that cost more and have even less people who use them.
As a keyset designer I'd just include the bars. Minimal cost increase for a decent target market increase and better resale value. Why not?

The few model F boards I have had no homing indicators at all. So that includes both the AT/XT boards with single piece keycaps and the F122 with 2 piece caps, but I wouldn't put it past IBM to have many variations/revisions where one might have had some indicators.

Oh yeah? I was just poking fun at them! The only caps I have that have nipples are from Alps boards. Bars and Scoops are a little uncommon for Alps, at least on the quality caps, but they do exist. I've seen scoops on my Zenith, on the Wang 724, and on the IBM 5140. Sure there's a ton more that have them. Bars seem to have come a bit later. Nipples kind of converge with scoops.
I'm far less versed on the prevalence of these on OG cherry caps though, since Alps is more my territory.
