Remap CapsLock as Backspace, wanna switch?
« on: Sat, 19 March 2011, 14:46:20 »
I read somewhere on this forums and decided to remap the CapsLock as Backspace, just like Colemak users, and found out it's very efficient in fixing typos (which I happen to make a lot lol)

So I make a video clip to demonstrate the switch, hopefully you will try and find out if it's change your way of "de-typo" like me :D

I use KeyTweak with Windows... Ubuntu has built-in keymapping options for you to choose to map CapsLock to various other keys, like Control...

Yeah I did that too, like six months ago maybe.
That's why I don't like in-key LEDs too, I'd press backspace and have my capslock key lit up.
Hoping to hear from you again, your dearest friend, sam113101.

I switched about three weeks ago, take me three or four days to adjust my muscle memory... during that time I disabled the original Backspace key so I had to use the CapsLock, make it easier to readjust...

I did this a while back.  Should be standard.

I did this a while back and it's actually a good idea but introduces a lot of muscle memory changes which when using someone else's keyboard becomes obvious your activating capslock and not backspace.

This is a post from one of the threads on similar to this. There's also a few more that have similar information. There's also caps lock itself which is kept to the windows key on the left to avoid activating the start menu accidentally.

I think I would really give it a try if it wasn't that I'm using the CapsLock as LWin on my Model M. Funny thing is I actually used CapsLock before remapping it, I had trained myself to avoid holding shift down when I was to write anything on caps longer than 3 characters and just switch CapsLock on.
I'm not really missing it, so I guess it isn't that much of must even when you are used to it.
