Took some 'tatos of some highlights of my 1800 collection. The Raptor was in a different box and the kids were making a fuss so I couldn't get one of him.

One of my faves :D. I'm verging on "too scared to use it" but bust it out every now and then when I need to reprogramme one of my teensy boards or something.

Yes, I plan on using it as a daily driver.

5000's come with MX browns. Modern browns get a lot of hate, but these browns are my favorite switch I have ever used.

People in the 1980s, in general, were clearly just better than we are now in every measurable way.

The dumber the reason the more it must be done

"50 shades of grey"
No seriously, that's really strange.
Some call it Translucent Black stems, or clear Blacks.
Surely The Cherry was doing experiments  with variety of materials from other Chemical suppliers that time, as many do now.
Molds are No.1 - 20 range, details differ from MX Blacks in late 80'
No enough posts on that yet, afaik.

I suppose I should stick this in here too, since it's likely to get buried quick in the mail today thread...

Knocked another one off my Cherry 'bucket list', a G80 board with bitshift layout!
Rohde & Schwarz Cherry G80-0774

More

Near mint condition, asides from the chip on the upper left corner it's like new. Perfect condition Cherry doubleshots with many interesting keys and legends on plate mounted MX blacks. Lock leds appear to be orange. Top case bezel is metal, with some kind of 'engineered' bottom tray. Sadly, it's another keyboard with a weird connector in my collection making it impossible to use without heavy mods... of which I wouldn't even know where to start with it's 3 wire phono jack connector.
