I thought the round 1 cases were already produced but not anodized?

That's right. They still need to produce all the PCBs and plates.

This too will also be my first build-a-keyboard project and am a bit nervous because I've also never soldered anything before

GL TO BOTH OF US PAOBIT!!!

Btw is there a way for me to find out if I have successfully ordered my kit? I'm unfamilliar with the ordering method here, I've only really used shopping cart and checkout form. I went to this site [ https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1iUvy4ss_EFClrfKXiSZ1Gyu3Iqtpa_DuChbowyzOKTo/viewform ] then filled in my info and left the eagle part blank and then selected the viper i wanted. Did I do it correctly?

Where did you purchase those from rewind? Oh well I'm glad I was at least able to put my order in. Are these boards pretty rare?

Question regarding completing the build:

What components do I need to finish an Eagle build aside from switches and stabilizers? I have already procured LEDs and SIP sockets (optional I know).  What exactly is pre-soldered? Is it just the SMD components? Do I still need diodes or will they be presoldered on the board? What about resistors for the LEDs? This is my first custom build, so sorry if I sound noobish.

maybe a dumb question but what springs are a good weight for the viper? Or what's the general weight people usually get here? There are extra orders for the gold springs from sprit and might as well get some there.

Springs are a personal preference thing. Not a dumb question though. Understanding the weights requires some knowledge of the stock switches, but there is a guide to the sprit spring weights on his GB page for the spring sales.

Updated everything needed for now. If I missed anything, let me know..

I suppose the 2nd batch can pay later.  I'd say 2 weeks after the 1st batch's deadline.  After the deadline, there can be NO changes to your order.  This is because they need to anodize the cases and the colours will be set once they start.  Address can be changed of course.

I have a question but I hope you guys don't think its dumb =(

What is the advantage of the duck keyboards over regular keyboards aside for the fact that you can build it yourself? I purchased one since I love the layout and the feeling that I made something myself :P

Quality parts, metal cause, full customization in firmware, very nice design and layout.

Much like the benefits of most other custom boards.

Makes sense, case alone already costs over 100usd for a good quality one on other sites. What do you mean customizations on firmware?

It has firmware which can be modified to change keymapping.

If you want your Backspace key to be Esc, you can do it. If you want your Fn key to be the space bar, you can do it. If you want arrow keys on Fn + Q P V M you can have it.

You have complete control over the whole layout.

Different topic. Let's assume I would buy SMD LEDs from Gon, could I use them as side LEDs for the Viper? I'm asking because the Lightsaver uses a different size of side LEDs as far as I'm aware and I'm pretty sure the Viper / Eagle use the same.

So basically its a more advanced version since any key can be anything.

What do you mean SMD LED? Every time i find out more about this keyboard I get more and more exited lol

Exactly. You can look at the program here http://duck0113.tistory.com/category/%E2%98%85Firmware%20Program

You see, the Duck Viper and Eagle have side LEDs just like the other Duck boards.

Those LEDs are Surface Mounted Devices (or SMD for short) since they don't go through a hole and get soldered onto the surface of the PCB.

Also, I have no clue about the 2x3x4 LEDs as well. I usually use 3mm round LEDs that have around 6.000 - 7.000mcd. Now I am looking at 2x3x4 LEDs that have 200mcd. Isn't that way too low? Will it shine just as bright because they have a wider viewing angle?

Yep, I'll probably strip one of my other keyboards naked in the meantime, but I'd like to find a nice attractive keycap set. It seems like it'd be silly to not put the cherry on top of a nice board.

SMD - Surface mount device. Any SMD component usually is available in many sizes typically referred to as packages. Gon sells the package size 1206 SMD LEDs which are fairly large when it comes to surface mount components. So if the package size is the same on the side LEDs for the Viper/Eagle you're golden. Otherwise you can always buy any package size SMD LED from mouser or digikey.

I really have no idea what to use on mx clear. Some say it should be thick but I am planning only to lube the slider, not the leg.

Usually for tactile switches you want to use thick lube. Thin lube is for linear switches.

Ugh I think I need one of these

Before I pull the trigger I've got some questions because I'm a total MX noob, I'm sure a lot of these have been answered already so I apologize in advance:

What PBT keycap sets come with a short right shift so I could replicate a HHKB layout?

Is this stab kit sufficient for the Viper?

Any pics of the red anodization?
