Hey swimmingbird, hopefully I can help you out.
Just ignore the showing up as "ATm32U4DFU" and "Check Atmel USB Driver" errors you are getting now.

Have you tried using FLIP? Download here: http://www.atmel.com/tools/FLIP.aspx
I use it to flash my Viper, as well as my HHKB running TMK.

Just plug in the Viper while holding down Caps Lock.
And follow the instructions at the very bottom of the page here: http://duck0113.tistory.com/84
Duck gives you instructions on how to flash using FLIP software. (translate using chrome)
Make sure you select ATmega32U4 at the beginning or else it won't flash properly.

~~Tried this but I'm getting a message saying "AtLibUsbDfu.dll not found" followed by "Could not load dynamic library" when selecting usb as the connection option~~

Okay I managed to fix it... what I had to do was go to the device manager and manually specify to install the default atmega32u4 driver rather than just let it do it the automatic way
After I did this the device showed up on Device Manager under Atmel devices (which did not exist before in my device manager)

After this I ran the O2D software and it worked perfectly

I know this was mentioned a while back, but does anyone know the dimensions of the screws that mount the plate/PCB to the case? I think they are torx t4, but I have no idea about the length, TPI or diameter.

Anyone have a CAD file of the plate for the Viper?
I want to lasercut an acrylic plate to try out.

Also, I want to replace the SMD LEDs on the bottom.
I believe they are 3528 type but just want to verify.

I don't think I received the original bolts as I bought mine second hand.
The bolts are M2x0.4 (thread and pitch), length could range from 5-10mm.
The head could be torx T4 but the ones I am using are philips head.

He is probably still finalizing stuff to start the Blackbird GB. I'd actually love to see another Viper/Eagle/anything but Blackbird and Lightsaver GB before he starts with the Blackbird, since I'm not interested in the other ones and do not yet have the money for the Blackbird, which would then be delayed long enough for me to save up, haha.

I think you're right. As the Octagon V2 R3 shipment has been sent out, Duck is likely working on the Blackbird GB. I'm hoping that the Eagle/Viper GB will surface soon after.

Some things I've noticed:

• Centered USB port which is done to accommodate the acrylic diffuser inserts, I'd imagine.
• Much longer diffuser inserts than the Octagon v2 and Orion v2 from what it seem (note the backside).
• Some strange aluminum bottom option shown on the Eagle v2

If you're talking about in the direct center of the case, then yes, that space is typically meant for a weight insert.
