Hrrm not sure if this deserves its own thread but please de-homophobify the word filter. G a y is not always a slur nor should we treat it as one.

The only other way it could be used to to express a mood of happiness, and unfortunately the slur killed off the proper meaning.
I'm talking non-negative connotation of homosexuality. It's plenty okay to use the word to refer to homosexuals as a matter of fact... just don't go throwing it around like an insult. I don't think that GH has a problem with that most of the time so banning the word entirely is just shoo-shooing it under the rug so we dont have to think about things.

Also, on the offchance that somebody does start talking about homosexuality in a non-negative light, the fact that the word gets censored can lead to confusion. Just my 2c.

If you read the history of the word, you will see that it did later become associated with homosexuality. But it didn't start as that. But I agree, nonetheless we shouldn't filter it out.

Added IRC to the menu bar, among other things.  There is a lot up there now.  We may not keep all of these:

Unread - list of posts you haven't read
New - list of new posts to threads you have posted to previously
Notifications - your subscribed threads

someday sometime when we have a reasonable spy again, the unread and new buttons can probably go.

I like the unread button...the new I don't really use.

Perhaps the Notifications can be buried in the menus?

A way to get to the last page in the spy. Unread replies etc all have a list of numbers of the pages in the thread which means you can click yourself directly to the last page.

If you don't get the possibility to choose the end or beginning of the thread, I think pressing the post in the spy should get you straight to the last post since that is the post in question.

this exists, but the link is tiny and currently on the far right side of the spy. i've made a quick change that just reorders the columns, but we're still having some issues with deployment. that should get pushed out tomorrow.

I would like the ability to lock a thread that I started, so that no one can post in it, but unlock it later if I wanted to post something new.

Yeah, why did that change suddenly? Or was it always like this? Now I can't remember.

It would be lovely to get this functionality back. Especially since my giveaway thread is closed now, and I can't reopen it myself.

I knew I had used the feature after the new forum came back up. In the thread listing in the forum of your thread you will see the little "Remove topic" and "Lock topic" icons in the right most column. That lock icon actually unlocks your thread even though it says Lock this after you have locked it.

note to future self: the lock button is actually a toggle for normal users. change default template to say "unlock" when thread is locked.

I don't even have that column on the right with the icons like Glissant does.

And what's with everyone using Thoriated? Use Nostalgia, people! :P

That's a different view... Consistency has been an issue with SMFs presentation.

What my image is showing is what I referred to from the beginning, and I believe that is also what mkawa was talking about when asking about the "mislabeled 'lock topic' button", but I could be wrong about what mkawa meant.
The lock icon is still mislabeled in the Nostalgia theme too, mkawa.

I would like to request the lock and remove options be inside the first post of every thread for the thread starter. It was kind of confusing finding a way to lock the thread even with those two options, but I think it's because I am used to the "edit op to lock"-way of doing it.

That being said, I don't see what Computer-Lab in Basement mentioned in his post, so consistency does seem to be an issue. I imagine it being a setting that's different in some of the sub-forums.
^ I checked this again, and I am sorry, but I do have those buttons at the bottom of the topic. I was looking at the bottom of my first post for some reason. I'll keep the misinformation there, but I'll strike it through.

I don't even have that column on the right with the icons like Glissant does.

And what's with everyone using Thoriated? Use Nostalgia, people! :p

After using DT for a while I find the default theme to be nicer to look at for hours on end (did I just admit to spending hours at a time here? ;) )
But OK, I'll use Nostalgia for the next few days, just for you J.D.
