A way to mark a subforum read from the index page would be nice. (It bugs me to see the unread threads even in the subs I don't really look at, so I always have to go in and mark them read...)

Or maybe in that vein, a way to hide certain subforums instead of the whole category they fall under?

Have titles of threads that are unread or have unread posts be bold. This would make it easier to distinguish. Same thing in the Topic Spy.

Done for the main message index.

Quick suggestion: can we move the check box "Save a copy in my outbox" after the "Send" button? I'm used to pressing tab space to post, and a lot of the time, I accidentally uncheck that box.

Is it just me or did the layout of Messages change today? I really like the conversation view.

My signature hasn't changed since 2012. I should really update it.

as feature reductions usually go, it was wildly abused by a few people, and is subsumed by the ability to edit your posts, so that one unfortunately is not coming back.

I find myself going through my PMs for a long time before I can find the one I'm looking for. Would there someway you can put a note onto a PM to show what it was for?

I know you can make the title to what you want, but sometimes the other person messages me with No Subject and it becomes just a little piece in a ton of PM's that I have to search for.

yah, you can label your private messages; the feature works much like gmail. look above the list of PMs for the labels and actions drop-down

Was just thinking this tonight. Not bookmarks, but lack of organization. For instance, I created a thread adking poker questions. Jocelyn responded with a poker manual in pdf format. My first thought was why is this not in the wiki? There is LOTS of this type of stuff that needs done.

There is a lot of info that needs to get into the Wiki.  The old Wiki was horrible, but had no barrier to entry.  The new Wiki is a proper Wiki, but the barrier to entry is higher.

Oh, I was just pointing out that you'll need to get an account on the Wiki in order to edit it.  Are you saying that you'd like wiki access?

Before we switched to SMF/MediaWiki we were using vB4 with a wiki-like plugin.  The Wiki was just a list of posts that were handled a bit differently.  There was no real organization to it.

A "Suggest for Wiki" button/link could be neat.  Basically, if someone reads a post (or thread?) that they find important in the context of lasting reference material, they flag/vote/mark it.  Not sure where that goes, but could make for a good "triage" list where volunteers could sort/refine/filter.  Not sure if this is the right idea, but we need *something* to encourage promoting the good content that often gets buried in a few days after being posted.

Tagging would be a great way to implement classifieds, I like that.
I like both 'tag clouds'  for 'at a glance' visualization of hot topics,  and predefined categories to provide consistent meaningful structure and ease of location.

Default search settings.

Maybe I'm missing it, but I'd like the quick search field at the top right to default to showing the results ordered by date, most recent first.  It always orders by relevance.

I can go to advanced search and do this of course, but I'd like to be able to set my default preferences for how my search results are displayed.

GH Yearly Awards! Yes, something similar to what they do at DT, with polls, specialty "rare, custom" items for awardees.

Suggested categories:

1. Best New GroupBuy Design
2. Best New Keycap Design
3. Best New Retailer
4. Best New Keyboard
5. Funniest GH Moment of [Year]
6. Best GH "Bro"-ment (see what I did there?)

Not familiar with the code, but couldn't this be as simple as using the same function the "unread since last visit" uses except you set the "last visit" date to a fixed time one day prior?

Alrighty. Meeba runs a small SMF forum, so perhaps ask him also. His forum also runs SMF 2.0.4 instead of 2.0.2 like we are, and his works well. I'll continue to use the beta app, albeit grudgingly. :P thanks for looking into it.

I would just like the option of making a PM as read or unread. Or "NEW" like when they're fresh.

Or anything that would make a message stand out other than putting it in another folder with other messges that I don't know if I have read or checked.
Every email and PM thingy I have seen has this feature as the de facto standard. Sadly I'm just not enough of a savant to work this system the way it is designed.

I hate not being able to get back to people in the same volume and consistency that I feel is important. It just makes me really frustrated and sad.

If for some reason you happen to be in a particuarly generous mood and if for some reason I have not annoyed you then... pssst.... a proper folder system would be really nice too. Gmail actually has this. They also have labels BUT they are also quite visual.

Here is my more comprehensive list (some mentioned before)

1) read or unread option in PMs
2) Folders
3) favorites type thing
4) multi-quote button (unless I am missing something, but it's clunky and glitchy now)
5) Subscription/Notification folders this could essentially be a "favorites" type thing but imagine how easy it would be to reference or track information.

And ONE BIG THANK YOU for making the image upload and display way more intuitive and easy than it previously was after the big gh reboot. You guys are my hero for that one.

4) multi-quote button (unless I am missing something, but it's clunky and glitchy now)

This is something I wanted to ask about also, having a dedicated button for multi-quote.

I've just been using the regular quote button for multiple posts and it seems to just add them down in the quick reply box which is ok if they are near the bottom of a thread or close together otherwise its back and forth and just odd.
