Ergodox EZ DSA vs DCS keycaps
« on: Sat, 11 February 2017, 21:39:37 »
I'm interested if anyone has opinions or experiences with the DCS blank vs DSA printed keycaps on the Ergodox EZ. From what I can gather the DCSs are more ergonomic due to the sculpting.

Tenting makes all the difference,  every other aspect of dcs is Periphery  (with respect to ergonomics)..

I use DCS keys on my ergodox and greatly prefer them to the DSA. I don't think it's an ergonomic issue per se, I just find DCS a little easier to type on and more natural. DSA didn't cause me any addition muscle strain etc. It's just a little nicer IMO on DCS

i bought an ergodox with a DSA set, and i really disliked it

swapped it out for a cherry profile (similar to DCS) set, big improvment

i think the cylindrical cut shape is superior to the spherical cut shape as it allows you to slide your fingers slide off and on the keys in that column, letting you type faster

I have DCS, love it. Also, Blanks > labelled. So get the DCS blanks.

While you can rearrange DSA caps, you can only do that if the target position is 1u too, which may not be the case (my "[" and "]" keys for example, are not on 1u keys).

I think this is what I'll do. I'm going to be remapping lots of keys and I didn't consider the 1u issue you mentioned. Really I'd like all blanks except for the letters, but I can do that later with a keycap set.

Thanks for the responses.

Personally I think any profile is better than dsa. I know its harsh but it just doesn't feel right to me
